Claims
- 1. An oxidizing iodine-containing composition for use in oligonucleotide synthesis comprising a combination of iodine dissolved in glacial acetic acid as first component and pyridine as second component.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein the first component consists of a saturated solution of iodine in glacial acid.
- 3. The composition of claim 1 wherein the ratios of the volumes of the two components equals 1.
- 4. A process for preparing polynucleotides on a solid support in a reactor, through which solutions of reagents and/or solvents are circulated, and wherein an oxidation step is carried out applying an oxidation reagent that comprises a combination of iodine dissolved in glacial acetic acid as first component and pyridine as second component.
- 5. The process of claim 4 wherein the first component and the second component are applied in equal amounts.
- 6. The process of claim 4 wherein said two components are mixed immediately before the mixture thus formed is introduced to the reactor.
- 7. The process of claim 4 wherein said components are mixed at the inlet of the reactor.
- 8. The process of claim 4 wherein said components are conjointly introduced into the reactor.
- 9. The process of claim 4 wherein said components are conjointly injected into the reactor by means of two independently operated syringe modules.
