Claims
- 1. In an apparatus for producing interior vehicular trim, comprising:
- welding means including a lower platen for supporting a substrate to which a nap-raised ornamental member has been applied over a portion of the surface of the substrate, and a matching upper platen disposed opposing said lower platen, for effecting welding of a synthetic resin surface material which has been applied over the surface of the substrate and over the ornamental member, the welding being carried out along a weld line corresponding to a peripheral edge of the ornamental member;
- and melt-cutting means for removing the portion of the synthetic resin surface material covering said ornamental member by melt-cutting it along the weld line,
- the improvement comprising:
- lift-up means for lifting a portion of said synthetic resin surface material that covers the ornamental member and which portion is to be detached from the ornamental member, away from the surface of said ornamental member;
- said lift-up means comprising air supply means including a source of pressure air and an air inlet for supplying a positive air pressure in a space between said ornamental member and said surface material for lifting up said surface material from said ornamental member at least adjacent said weld line for preventing the portion of said ornamental member adjacent to said weld line from being affected by the heat of welding;
- said welding means and said melt-cutting means being cooperatively arranged so that the welding operation along said weld line and the melt cutting operation at said weld line occur substantially concurrently, and said lift-up means includes means for lifting the portion of the synthetic resin surface material bounded by said weld line away from the surface of said ornamental member during said welding and said melt cutting operations, and for enabling the detachment of the lifted-up surface material along the melt cut weld line.
- 2. In an apparatus for producing interior vehicular trim, comprising:
- welding means including a lower platen for supporting a substrate to which a nap-raised ornamental member has been applied over a portion of the surface of the substrate, and a matching upper platen disposed opposing said lower platen, for effecting welding of a synthetic resin surface material which has been applied over the surface of the substrate and over the ornamental member, the welding being carried out along a weld line corresponding to a peripheral edge of the ornamental member;
- and melt-cutting means for removing the portion of the synthetic resin surface material covering said ornamental member by melt-cutting it along the weld line,
- the improvement comprising:
- lift-up means for lifting a portion of said synthetic resin surface material that covers the ornamental member and which portion is to be detached from the ornamental member, away from the surface of said ornamental member;
- said lift-up means comprising:
- a bag member interposed between said ornamental member and said synthetic resin surface material; and
- fluid supply means coupled to said bag member for supplying a fluid to said bag member to effect swelling thereof, said bag member, when swelled, lifting up said surface material away from said ornamental member at least adjacent said weld line for preventing the portion of said ornamental member adjacent to said weld line from being affected by the heat of welding, and facilitating the melt-cutting of said surface material by the swelling of the bag member between the ornamental member and the surface material;
- wherein said substrate has at least one opening therein, and wherein said bag member is insertable through said opening of said substrate into a space between said synthetic resin surface material and said ornamental member;
- said welding means and said melt-cutting means being cooperatively arranged so that the welding operation along said weld line and the melt cutting operation at said weld line occur substantially concurrently, and said lift-up means includes means for lifting the portion of the synthetic resin surface material bounded by said weld line away from the surface of said ornamental member during said welding and said welt-cutting operations, and for enabling detachment of the lifted-up surface material along the melt cut weld line.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein said fluid supply means supplies said fluid to said bag member through said at least one opening of said substrate.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein said bag member comprises a generally ring-shaped bag member arranged between said ornamental member and said synthetic resin surface material.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein said generally ring-shaped bag member is arranged adjacent said welded line formed during said welding.
- 6. In an apparatus for producing interior vehicular trim, comprising:
- welding means including a lower platen for supporting a substrate to which a nap-raised ornamental member has been applied over a portion of the surface of the substrate, and a matching upper platen disposed opposing said lower platen, for effecting welding of a synthetic resin surface material which has been applied over the surface of the substrate and over the ornamental member, the welding being carried out along a weld line corresponding to a peripheral edge of the ornamental member;
- and melt-cutting means for removing the portion of the synthetic resin surface material covering said ornamental member by melt-cutting it along the weld line,
- the improvement comprising:
- lift-up means for lifting a portion of said synthetic resin surface material that covers the ornamental member and which portion is to be detached from the ornamental member, away from the surface of said ornamental member;
- said lift-up means comprising:
- a suction chamber arranged on the side of said synthetic resin surface material opposite to that side facing said ornamental member; and
- suction means for reducing the air pressure in said chamber to cause said synthetic resin surface material to separate from said ornamental member, and for lifting said synthetic resin surface material away from said ornamental member at least adjacent said weld line for preventing the portion of said ornamental member adjacent to said weld line from being affected by the heat of welding;
- said welding means and said melt-cutting means being cooperatively arranged so that the welding operation along said weld line and the melt cutting operation at said weld line occur substantially concurrently, and said lift-up means includes means for lifting the portion of the synthetic resin surface material bounded by said weld line away from the surface of said ornamental member during said welding and said melt cutting operation, and for enabling the detachment of the lifted-up surface material along the melt cut weld line.
- 7. In an apparatus for producing interior vehicular trim, comprising:
- welding means including a lower platen for supporting a substrate to which a nap-raised ornamental member has been applied over a portion of the surface of the substrate, and a matching upper platen disposed opposing said lower platen, for effecting welding of a synthetic resin surface material which has been applied over the surface of the substrate and over the ornamental member, the welding being carried out along a weld line corresponding to a peripheral edge of the ornamental member;
- and melt-cutting means for removing the portion of the synthetic resin surface material covering said ornamental member by melt-cutting it along the weld line,
- the improvement comprising:
- lift-up means for lifting a portion of said synthetic resin surface material that covers the ornamental member and which portion is to be detached from the ornamental member, away from the surface of said ornamental member;
- said lift-up means comprising:
- at least one movable suction member arranged to engage said synthetic resin surface material; and
- means for moving said at least one movable suction member away from said ornamental member while engaged with said surface material, for lifting said synthetic resin surface material away from said ornamental member at least adjacent said weld line for preventing the portion of said ornamental member adjacent to said weld line from being affected by the heat of welding;
- said welding means and said melt-cutting means being cooperatively arranged so that the welding operation along said weld line and the melt cutting operation at said weld line occur substantially concurrently, and said lift-up means includes means for lifting the portion of the synthetic resin surface material bounded by said weld line away from the surface of said ornamental member during said welding and said melt cutting operations, and for enabling detachment of the lifted-up surface material along the melt cut weld line.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein said at least one movable suction member is grippable with said synthetic resin surface material by means of suction.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein said at least one movable suction member aids in stripping off of said synthetic resin surface material along a melt-cutting line.
