Claims
- 1. An apparatus for producing plasterboard from a mixture of plaster and a fibrous material, comprising:
- means defining a plasterboard production path;
- conveyor means for forming a moist mixture of plaster, fibrous material and water;
- spreading means along said path for spreading said moist mixture to form a mat;
- a first press downstream of said spreading means along said path for pressing said mat into a raw board with a pressure at least sufficient to compact said raw board into a coherent structure;
- an afterwetting station along said path directly downstream of said press and provided with first means for afterwetting an upper side of the raw board, second means for afterwetting an underside of said raw board, independently of said first means, and means for controlling said first and second means so that substantially independently controlled amounts of water are applied to the raw board from the upper side and from the underside thereof;
- a second press along said path downstream of said afterwetting station for afterpressing the afterwetted raw board with a pressure at least as high as a pressure applied by said first press; and
- a setting and drying station downstream along said path of said second press and provided with means for setting and drying the afterpressed raw board.
- 2. The apparatus defined in claim 1 wherein said afterwetting station is provided with means for freely suspending said raw board over a segment of said path, and a multiplicity of upwardly trained nozzles disposed along said segment for spraying water from below onto the underside of the suspended board.
- 3. The apparatus defined in claim 1 wherein said means for wetting said underside of said board comprises a multiplicity of containers disposed beneath said board along said path, means for feeding water to said containers, and apertured means at upper sides of said containers for applying water to the underside of the raw board as said raw board travels over said containers.
- 4. The apparatus defined in claim 1 wherein said afterwetting station comprises a pair of bibulous belts guided into contact with said upper side and said underside of said raw board for transferring water thereto, roller means for guiding the respective belts along respective endless paths, and means for applying water to said belts, said raw board traveling past said belts on a sieve belt.
- 5. The apparatus defined in claim 1 wherein said means for afterwetting said upper side comprises an array of nozzles trained on said upper side for spraying water onto said upper side while said raw board is supported on a conveyor transporting said raw belt along said path.
- 6. The apparatus defined in claim 5 wherein said means for afterwetting said underside comprises an array of nozzles trained on said underside for spraying water onto said underside while said raw board is supported on said conveyor.
- 7. The apparatus defined in claim 1, further comprising means for producing a measured value representing water applied to said underside, means for producing a measured value representing water applied to said upper side, and control means responsive to said measured values for varying an amount of water applied to said upper side to maintain a given ratio between amounts of water applied to said upper side and to said underside.
- 8. The apparatus defined in claim 1 wherein said second press is a flat press.
- 9. The apparatus defined in claim 1 wherein said second press is a roller press applying periodically varying pressure to said raw board.
- 10. The apparatus defined in claim 1 wherein said second press is provided with a flat pressing sheet entrained with said raw board through said second press.
- 11. The apparatus defined in claim 1 wherein said second press has a structured press platen applying an embossing pattern to the raw board.
