As shown in FIG. 1, the apparatus 10 for receiving and sending parcel delivered by drone is applicable for temporary storage of parcel after drone disengages parcel on the apparatus 10 remaining for user to fetch, or after user places parcel on the apparatus 10 remaining for drone to engage. The apparatus 10 is configured to be mounted on a building 20 such as a house or a flat, for example, the apparatus 10 is installed outside a balcony or under a windowsill, enabling user who stays on a balcony or behind a window to fetch or place parcel. The apparatus 10 includes a base assembly 100, a main controller 200, a barrier assembly 300 and a lift table 400.

The base assembly 100 can be mounted on the exterior surface of the building 20 and provides a place for drone to land and for parcel to be placed. Since drone also can disengage or engage parcel when hovering at low height over the base assembly 100, it can be appreciated that it is not necessary for drone to land on the base assembly 100, such that the place provided by the base assembly 100 can be applicable only for parcel placement. The base assembly 100 includes a bracket 110 and a platform 120.

The bracket 110 is configured to be supporting structure of the apparatus 10 and enabled to be mounted on the building 20. In some of the embodiments, the bracket 110 includes two bars 112 which are spaced and paralleled, both of which can be mounted on the building 20.

The platform 120 is mounted on the bracket 110. The platform 120 has a working surface 122 which provides an operating area for drone to disengage or engage parcel. Specifically, in some of the embodiments, the platform 120 is a substantially square board, with the operating area on the working surface 122.

FIG. 2 is jointly referred to. Specifically, the platform 120 is rotatably connected to the bracket 110. The platform 120 rotates to enable the working surface 122 to be substantially horizontal for drone engaging or disengaging parcel in the operating area, and to enable the working surface 122 to be vertical or tilted for the platform 120 closely approaching the building 20.

Specifically, one edge of the platform 120 is pivoted to the bracket 110. The base assembly 100 further includes at least one actuator 130 for driving rotation of platform 120, which is a telescopic actuator. Each end of the actuator 130 is pivoted to the bracket 110 and to the platform 120 respectively. In some of the embodiments, the platform 120 is rotatably connected to both of the bars 112.

Specifically, the actuator 130 is a telescopic hydraulic cylinder or a motorized linear actuator. In addition to being a telescopic actuator, the actuator 130 also can be a stepping motor for driving rotation of platform 120.

The bracket 110 is not limited to be bars 112, in alternative embodiments, the bracket 110 may be a plate-like structure, a frame-like structure, or the like.

The main controller 200 is configured to control the operation of the apparatus 10 by receiving signals from either drone or user's digital device such as a mobile phone or a computer. Besides, the electric control 200 can transmit signal to drone so that the drone can approach, disengage or engage parcel based on the signal received, or the main controller 200 can transmit signal to user's digital device so that the user can fetch or place parcel based on the signal received. In some of the embodiments, the main controller 200 can be mounted on one of the bars 112, the platform 120, the building 20, or the like.

It can be appreciated that the method of opening and closing the door 320 is not limited to sliding along the slide rail 340. For example, the door 320 is rotatably connected with the barrier plate 310. Furthermore, the door 320 can be opened and closed automatically by a servo and a human body sensor.

Referring to FIG. 6 jointly, further, the barrier plate 310 is movable with respect to the base assembly 100 so as to enable the barrier plate 310 to be positioned close to the edge of working surface 122 and at least part of the barrier plate 310 is disposed above the working surface 122 when the working surface 122 is substantially horizontal. Such arrangement makes the operating area accessible to drone. And the barrier plate 310 is between the building 20 and the operating area to separate the operating area from the other side of the barrier plate 310 where the user stays. The barrier plate 310 can also move to be positioned right above the operating area, such that the working surface 122 and the barrier plate 310 are arranged in a spaced and opposite manner, when the working surface 122 is substantially horizontal. Such arrangement enables the barrier plate 310 to shelter the operating area from rain or snow in order to avoid parcel in operating area rained on or snowed on, and enables the barrier plate 310 to prevent unauthorized drone from accessing to the operating area.

When the barrier plate 310 is close to the edge of the horizontal working surface 122 and between the building 20 and the operating area, the barrier plate may be vertically positioned. When the barrier plate 310 is positioned right above the operating area on the horizontal working surface 122, the barrier surface 314 may be facing to and paralleled to the working surface 122.

An operation method of the barrier plate 310 is described as below. Before drone arrived in the operating area, the barrier plate 310 automatically moves to the position close to the edge of the working surface 122 and between the building 20 and the operating area, in order to separate the operating area from the other side of the barrier plate 310 where the user stays. After drone disengages parcel and flies away from the operating area, or before user places parcel in the operating area, the barrier plate 310 automatically moves to the position right above the operating area, so as the user to fetch or place parcel.

In some of the embodiments, the barrier plate 310 can rotate so that the barrier plate 310 can be positioned close to the edge of the working surface 122 and can be positioned right above the operating area. The barrier plate has a connecting end and a free end. The connecting end of the barrier plate 310 is pivoted to the bracket 110. By rotation of barrier plate 310, the free end can be positioned higher than the connecting end such that the barrier plate 310 separates the operating area from the other side of the barrier plate 310 where the user stays.

Further, the working surface 122 may be vertical or tilted by rotation of the platform 120, allowing the platform 120 to closely approach the building 20, and the connecting end of the barrier plate 310 may be higher than the free end of the barrier plate 310 by rotation of the barrier plate 310, allowing the barrier plate 310 to closely approach the platform when the working surface 122 is vertical or tilted. Under such condition, the platform 120 is between the barrier plate 310 and the building 20, when the apparatus 10 is on standby as shown in FIG. 2.

Referring to FIG. 7 and FIG. 8, the free end of the barrier plate 310 is provided with a striker 315. The bracket 110 is provided with a latch 114 which can clamp the striker 315. When the apparatus 10 is on standby, the free end can be positioned close to the bracket 110. And the latch 114 can clamp the striker 315 to secure the free end on the bracket 110 and to stop the barrier plate 310 from rotation.

The apparatus 10 further includes at least one actuator 500 for driving rotation of the barrier plate 310, which is a telescopic actuator. Each end of the actuator 500 is pivoted to the bracket 110 and to the barrier plate 310 respectively. Specifically, the actuator 500 is a telescopic hydraulic cylinder or a motorized linear actuator. In addition to being a telescopic actuator, the actuator 500 also can be a stepping motor for driving rotation of platform 120.

It can be appreciated that in some other embodiments, the platform 120 is fixed to the bracket 110 and cannot rotate. Under such condition, the working surface 122 may keep being horizontally positioned.

The weight sensor 600 can detect and measure weight of parcel on the lift table 400. Furthermore, the main controller 200 can control the lift table 400 lift up or lift down based on data sent from the weight sensor 600. For example, the data sent from the weight sensor 600 changes on the condition that parcel is put on the lift table 400 or took from the lift table 400, such that the main controller 200 controls the lift table 400 to lift down.

In some of the embodiments, the barrier assembly 300 further includes a sensor 700 electrically connected with the main controller 200. The sensor 700 can detect whether the door 320 closes the opening 312. If the door 320 dose not close the opening 312, the main controller 200 may transmit the signal to stop drone approaching. Furthermore, the main controller 200 can control the lift table 400 to lift up or lift down according to the state of the door 320. In some of the embodiments, the sensor 700 can be a contact switch.

In some of the embodiments, the main controller 200 can control the actuator 130 to drive rotation of the platform 120 according to both data from the weight sensor 600 and the state of the door 320. For example, when the parcel is fetched from the operating area, the weight of the parcel on the lift table 400 is turning to zero. Under such condition, if the door 320 dose not close the opening 312, the main controller 200 control the actuator 130 not to drive the platform 120 rotating; if the door 320 does close the opening 312, the main controller 200 control the actuator 130 to drive the platform 120 rotating so as to fold the apparatus 10 and to enable the platform 120 closely on the building 20.

Further, the barrier assembly 300 includes an alarm 800, which can remind user to close the opening 312 if user forgets to close the opening 312 after fetching or placing the parcel.
