- 5. The cap according to claim 1 wherein the liner extends along the entire length of the first inner surface.
- 6. The cap according to claim 1 wherein the liner (34) originates at the abutment.
- 7. The cap according to claim 6 wherein the first portion includes a threaded outside surface.
- 8. The cap according to claim 7 further comprising an operating clamp (9) coupled to the cap for rotating the cap.
- 9. The cap according to claim 8 further comprising a seal (32) disposed at the second portion for surrounding the casing (5).
- 10. The cap according to claim 1 wherein a diameter of the first inner hole is constant along its entire length.
- 11. A cap for a bicycle control cable (1) of the type wherein an inner cable (6) is slidingly disposed within an outer casing (5), the cap comprising:
- a first portion having a first inner surface defining a first inner hole;
- a second portion having a second inner surface defining a second inner hole, the second inner hole having a diameter capable of receiving an end of the casing (5); and
- a liner (34) disposed along the first inner surface, wherein the liner originates at the second portion and has a uniform thickness.
- 12. The cap according to claim 11 wherein the liner (34) extends along the entire length of the first inner surface.
- 13. The cap according to claim 11 wherein a diameter of the first inner hole is constant along its entire length.
- 14. The cap according to claim 11 wherein the first portion includes a threaded outside surface.
- 15. The cap according to claim 14 further comprising an operating clamp (9) coupled to the cap for rotating the cap.
- 16. The cap according to claim 15 further comprising a seal (32) disposed at the second portion for surrounding the casing (5).
- 17. A control cable apparatus comprising:
- a bicycle control cable (1) having an inner cable (6) slidingly disposed within an outer casing (5);
- a cap comprising:
- a first portion having a first inner surface defining a first inner hole;
- a second portion having a second inner surface defining a second inner hole,
- wherein the casing (5) is disposed within the second inner hole; and
- a liner (34) disposed along the first inner surface and abutting against an end face of the casing (5).
- 18. The apparatus according to claim 17 wherein the casing (5) comprises a spiral band (11) and a casing liner (10) disposed between an outer surface of the inner cable (6) and an inner surface of the spiral band (11), and wherein the liner (34) abuts against the casing liner (10).
- 19. The apparatus according to claim 17 wherein the second inner hole forms an abutment defining a junction between the first portion and the second portion.
- 20. The apparatus according to claim 19 wherein the liner (34) extends from the abutment.
- 21. The apparatus according to claim 20 wherein the liner (34) originates at the abutment.
- 22. The cap according to claim 21 wherein the first portion includes a threaded outside surface.
- 23. The cap according to claim 22 further comprising an operating clamp (9) coupled to the cap for rotating the cap.
- 24. The cap according to claim 23 further comprising a seal (32) disposed at the second portion for surrounding the casing (5).
- 25. The apparatus according to claim 19 wherein the casing (5) contacts the abutment.
