Claims
- 1. An apparatus for holding disks comprising:
an open-faced housing comprising a first groove and a second groove recessed into said open-faced housing wherein said open-faced housing provides users with a repository for holding a disk comprising digital media; said at first groove and said second groove comprising an insert configured to frictionally engage said disk without causing damage to said computer readable media, wherein a user may placed said disk in said first groove and said second groove without a case.
- 2. The apparatus of claim I wherein said first groove comprises a first bottom portion positioned below a second bottom portion associated with said second groove.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2 further wherein said open-faced housing is holds said first groove and said second groove at an incline so that said first bottom portion of said first groove is on a lower plane than said second bottom portion of said second groove.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said insert comprises a material adapted to hold said disk until a user forcibly removes said disk from said at least one groove.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4 wherein said material comprises a non-abrasive substance.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5 wherein said foam-based substance comprises closed-cell foam.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said case comprises a jewel case.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said case comprises a disk sleeve.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said case comprises packaging material.
- 11. An apparatus for housing disks comprising:
an open-faced housing; said open-faced housing comprising a plurality of grooves recessed into a first portion of said housing; each of said plurality of grooves configured to engage a disk when a user places said disk into one of said plurality of grooves without causing damage to the surface of said disk.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein said insert comprises a material adapted to hold said disk until a user forcibly removes said disk from said at least one groove.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 11 further comprising:
a stand configured to position said housing at an incline so that each successive one of said plurality of grooves is positioned at a higher plane.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 13 wherein said incline positions said open-faced housing so that a back end of said open-faced housing is elevated higher than a front end of said open-faced housing.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein said insert positioned in each of said plurality of grooves holds said disk without a jewel case.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein said insert positioned in each of said plurality of grooves holds said disk without a sleeve.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein said insert positioned in each of said plurality of grooves holds said disk without packaging material.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein said open-faced housing comprises a single continuous portion.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 18 wherein said single continuous portion is formed by injection molding.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein said open-faced housing comprises a company identity.
- 21. An apparatus for holding disks without a case comprising:
an open-faced housing comprising a plurality of recessed grooves; at least one of said plurality of recessed grooves configured to frictionally engage a disk having computer readable data without causing damage to the surface of said disk, wherein a user may placed said disk in said recessed groove without a case.
- 22. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein each of said plurality of recessed grooves has an insert comprising a material configured to hold said disk until a user forcibly removes said disk from said recessed groove.
- 23. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein said open-faced housing is positioned at an incline so that each successive one of said plurality of recessed grooves is on a higher plane than a preceding groove.
- 24. The apparatus of claim 21 further comprising:
a stand configured to place said open-faced housing at said incline.
- 25. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein said plurality of recessed grooves have a depth such that a first groove of said plurality is higher than a second groove of said plurality.
- 26. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein said case comprises a jewel case.
- 27. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein said case comprises a disk sleeve.
- 28. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein said case comprises packaging material.
- 29. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein said open-faced housing comprises a single continuous portion.
- 30. The apparatus of claim 29 wherein said single continuous portion is formed by injection molding.
- 31. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein said open-faced housing comprises a portion for placement of a graphic image.
- 32. An apparatus for holding disks comprising:
a housing comprising a first recessed groove having a first bottom portion and a second recessed groove having a second bottom portion, wherein said first bottom portion is positioned below said second bottom portion; said first recessed groove having an first insert designed to frictionally engage a first disk having computer readable data without causing damage to the surface of said first disk, wherein a user may placed said first disk in said first recessed groove without a jewel case; said second recessed groove having an second insert designed to frictionally engage a second disk having computer readable data without causing damage to the surface of said second disk, wherein a user may placed said second disk in said second recessed groove without a second jewel case.
- 33. The apparatus of claim 32 wherein said first insert comprises a material configured to hold said first disk until a user forcibly removes said first disk from said recessed groove.
- 34. The apparatus of claim 32 wherein said housing is positioned at an incline so that each successive one of a plurality of recessed grooves is on higher plane that a preceding groove.
- 35. The apparatus of claim 32 further comprising:
a stand configured to place said housing at said incline.
- 36. The apparatus of claim 32 wherein said plurality of recessed grooves have a depth such that a first groove of said plurality is higher than a second groove of said plurality.
- 37. The apparatus of claim 32 wherein said case comprises a jewel case.
- 38. The apparatus of claim 32 wherein said case comprises a disk sleeve.
- 39. The apparatus of claim 32 wherein said case comprises packaging material.
- 40. The apparatus of claim 32 wherein said housing comprises a single continuous portion.
- 41. The apparatus of claim 40 wherein said single continuous portion is formed by injection molding.
- 42. The apparatus of claim 32 wherein said housing comprises a portion for placement of a graphic image.
- 43. An apparatus for holding disks comprising:
an open faced housing comprising a plurality of grooves where each of said plurality of grooves are configured to hold a disk.
- 44. An apparatus for holding disks comprising:
a housing comprising a plurality of grooves arranged at an incline such that each successive one of said plurality of grooves is positioned on a plane higher than a preceding groove.
