Claims
- 1. An apparatus for straightening weft yarns in a continuous fabric web being transported in a transporting direction, comprising:
- two tensioning means, situated at margins of said fabric web for retaining respective selvages of said fabric web over a predetermined length thereof and for stretching said fabric web essentially in the weft direction with a force increasing in the transporting direction;
- driving means for driving said two tensioning means, said driving means comprising two separately controllable drives, each drive being coupled to one of said two tensioning means;
- sensor means for sensing longitudinal forces in said transporting direction acting on said tensioning means; and
- controller means for controlling said driving means such that said longitudinal forces acting on both said tensioning means are made equal.
- 2. An apparatus according to claim 1 wherein each said tensioning means is divided into separate sections movable relative to each other.
- 3. An apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the tensioning means comprises means for increasing the distance between the separated sections over a longitudinal section of the fabric web.
- 4. An apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising means for feeding and removing said web fabric from said tensioning means with hanging, substantially free forming loops.
- 5. An apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said fabric web can be fed at least via one loop, and further comprising sensor means at the lower end of said one loop and producing output signals fed to said driving means, and a feed roller for driving said fabric web with controllable speed.
- 6. An apparatus according to claim 2, wherein each said tensioning means comprises drums and the separate sections are segments of said drums, and said drums are rotatable about at least one shaft and said segments are axially movable according to the direction of tension.
- 7. An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said segments comprise spoke elements pivotally mounted essentially perpendicular to the direction of rotation.
- 8. An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said segments comprise respective pairs of spoke elements pivotable on hinges and operatively connected to a shaft sleeve and on peripheral areas of said segments such that said peripheral areas are pivotable parallel with said shaft.
- 9. An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein each said tensioning means comprises crank guides which determine the course of tension of the fabric web over said longitudinal section.
- 10. An apparatus according to claim 9, wherein said crank guides comprise adjusting means for adjusting the tension applied to the fabric web.
- 11. An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said crank guides comprise means for moving said segments away from each other at a slower rate than the movement of said segment toward each other between the end of a tension cycle and the start of the next tensioning cycle.
- 12. An apparats according to claim 6, wherein each said tensioning means comprises rigid drums and a connection between said shaft and said drums that transmits about said shaft a torque through which said drums can be held pivotably at a defined angle in relation to a rotation plane thereof in respect to said shaft.
- 13. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein each of said tensioning means comprises peripheral areas having gripping elements thereat for gripping and retaining said fabric web on a web edge thereof.
- 14. An apparatus according to claim 13, comprising several gripping elements which are separated from each other on each peripheral area.
- 15. An apparatus according to claim 13, wherein said gripping elements comprise bearing surfaces upon which the edges of said fabric web are firmly pressed by means of a rotating pressure strap so as to produce a frictional connection between said bearing surfaces and said fabric web.
- 16. An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein detectors are supported in each said tensioning means and determine the position of said fabric web or of the edges thereof relative to said tensioning means and produce output signals which limit pivotal movement via control system.
- 17. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein force detectors are supported on each said tensioning means, said force detectors comprising means for producing an output signal thereof essentially proportional to a force acting in the direction of the weft yarn in said fabric web and said apparatus further comprising control means for limiting the pivoting angle in response to the output signal.
- 18. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein each said tensioning means comprises tentering frames having rotary sliding chains which can be driven over the entire driving means.
