Claims
- 1. An apparatus for supplying an AC current signal to a cable under water, comprising: a buoyant water-tight non-metallic container; a battery, an oscillator, and a power amplifier arranged in said container; said battery being electrically connected to said oscillator to supply DC power thereto, said oscillator being electrically connected to said amplifier for supplying AC current thereto; an annulus of magnetic material placed around said cable so as to leave an annular space therebetween; an exciting winding placed around said annulus and electrically connected to said power amplifier for supplying said winding with an AC current and thereby induce an AC signal in the cable by electro-magnetic induction, and an electrically non-conducting annular diaphragm wall closing said annular space to prevent power loss by flow of water through said space.
