Claims
- 1. Apparatus for the recovery for re-use of vulcanised elastomeric material from a surface of an article comprising said material the apparatus comprising mounting means for the article, heating means located radially of the mounted article for devulcanising the surface of the article, a rasping tool located radially of the mounted article and spaced circumferentially of the latter from the heating means, and means to cause relative rotation of the article and the heating means about the axis of the article when mounted such that the outer surface of the article is moved at a predetermined speed past the heating means and thereafter attacked by the tool to remove devulcanised elastomeric material from the article in particulate form.
- 2. Apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the tool is mounted on an arm to be movable into and out of contact with said surface radially of the mounted article, means being provided to rotate the tool on the arm.
- 3. Apparatus as claimed in claim 2 wherein the tool is a cylindrical pin rasp arranged to be rotatable about its axis.
- 4. Apparatus as claimed in claim 3 wherein the tool has saw-tooth-shaped teeth to engage said surface with a cutting action, the more nearly radial edge of each tooth leading in the direction of rotation of the tool.
- 5. Apparatus as claimed in claim 1 wherein said heating means comprises a nozzle elongated axially of the mounted article and disposed radially thereof, means being provided to produce an oxygen-containing flame at said nozzle directed toward the radially outer surface of the article.
