Claims
- 1. An apparatus for transferring a supply of dusty bulk material disposed at a first location, to a predetermined second location comprising:
- support means disposed proximate the predetermined second location, said support means being selectively rotatable about a substantially vertical first axis;
- an elongated first conveyor means connected to said support means and rotatable as a unit with said support means about said vertical first axis, said first conveyor means being selectively, pivotably, movable independently of said support means about a substantially horizontal second axis, said first conveyor means projecting outward of said support means and including an elongated dust-shielding enclosure through which portions of the bulk material pass in a direction toward a discharge end formed in said enclosure, said discharge end being adjacent said support means;
- an elonagted second conveyor means spaced from said support means and connected to and depending from a distal portion of said first conveyor means and being selectively, pivotably, movable independently of said first conveyor means about a substantially horizontal third axis, said second conveyor means including an elongated dust-shielding enclosure through which portions of the bulk material pass in a direction toward an inlet end of the enclosure of said first conveyor means; and
- a feeder assembly suspended from the lower end of said second conveyor means, said feeder assembly including an uplift dust-shielding enclosure having one end thereof attached to a lower distal end portion of the enclosure of said second conveyor means and extending from said attached end parallel to said second conveyor means and having an inlet opening at its lower end, means for advancing such bulk material through said uplift enclosure to said lower distal end portion at a rate slower than the rate the bulk material portions pass through said second conveyor means enclosure; said feeder assembly also including a collecting portion pivotally supported on and projecting transversely outward from the lower end portion of the uplift enclosure, said collecting portion being pivotably adjustable about an axis which lies generally perpendicular to the axis of said uplift enclosure, said collecting portion having bulk material contacting means for engaging and advancing portions of the bulk material towards the uplift enclosure lower end portion and into said inlet opening whereby the bulk material portions sequentially move therefrom through the uplift enclosure, the second conveyor means enclosure, the first conveyor means enclosure, and out the discharge end thereof to the predetermiend second location.
- 2. Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein independent relative movement of said second conveyor means with respect to said first conveyor means is controlled by extensible means carried by said first conveyor means.
- 3. Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the bulk material contacting means includes at least one pair of augers disposed in substantially end-to-end relation and substantially transversely of the uplift enclosure lower end portion, and each auger includes generally coaxial helical flighting converging towards the uplift enclosure lower end portion.
- 4. Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the bulk material contacting means includes a pair of generally parallel side-by-side augers adapted to advance portions of the bulk material toward the uplift enclosure lower end portion.
- 5. Apparatus according to claim 4 wherein each of said augers includes generally coaxial helical flighting converging toward the uplift enclosure lower end portion.
- 6. Apparatus according to claim 4 wherein said feeder assembly includes scraper means selectively operable independently of said augers.
- 7. Apparatus according to claim 6 wherein said scraper means include panels attached to said feeder assembly for selective movement into scraping contact with the bulk materials at the first location.
- 8. Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the rotatable support means is provided with a drop means proximate the center of rotation of said support means, said drop means having a portion thereof proximate the discharge end of said first conveyor means.
- 9. Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the rotatable support means is selectively movable relative to the first location along a predetermined path.
- 10. Apparatus of claim 8 wherein the drop means includes a telescoping dust-shielding enclosure through which the bulk material portions move by gravity to the second location.
- 11. Apparatus according to claim 9 wherein an elongated transfer means is disposed along the path of travel of said support means, said transfer means including an elongated conveyor element extending to the second location, said conveyor element having a segment thereof subtending said support means and in dust shielding communication with the discharge end of said first conveyor means.
- 12. Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein selective independent pivotal movement of the first conveyor means is effected by extensible supports carried on said rotatable support means and in engagement with the enclosure of said first conveyor means.
- 13. Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the support means includes an elongated boom having one end thereof pivotally connected to said support means and the opposite end thereof provided with means for suspending therefrom the distal end portion of said first conveyor means.
- 14. Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the enclosure of said first conveyor means is provided with a bifurcated inlet portion disposed in adjustable straddling relation with an upper end portion of the enclosure of said second conveyor means.
- 15. Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the second conveyor means includes an auger disposed within the enclosure thereof, the pitch of said auger increasing along at least a portion of its length beginning at the intake thereof.
- 16. Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the enclosure of at least the second conveyor means includes a selectively operable aeration means for injecting a compressed gaseous medium into the interior thereof while portions of the bulk material are passing therethrough.
- 17. Apparatus according to claim 16 wherein actuation of said aeration means is responsive to a predetermined load exerted on said second conveyor means in moving the bulk material portions through said elongated dust-shielding enclosure of said second conveyor means.
- 18. An apparatus for transferring a supply of dusty bulk material disposed at a first location, to a predetermined second location comprising:
- support means disposed proximate the predetermined second location, said support means being selectively rotatable about a substantially vertical first axis and selectively movable relative to the first location along a predetermined path;
- an elongated first conveyor means connected to said support means and rotatable as a unit with said support means about said first axis, said first conveyor means being selectively, pivotally, movable independently of said support means about a substantially horizontal second axis, said first conveyor means projecting outward of said support means and including an elongated dust shielding enclosure through which portions of the bulk material pass in a direction toward a discharge end formed in said enclosure, said discharge end being adjacent said support means;
- an elongated second conveyor means spaced from said support means and connected to and depending from a distal portion of said first conveyor means and being selectively, pivotably, movable independently of said first conveyor means about a substantially horizontal third axis, said second conveyor means including an elongated dust shielding enclosure through which portions of the bulk material pass in a direction toward an inlet end of the enclosure of said first conveyor means; and
- a feeder assembly suspended from the lower end of said second conveyor means, said feeder assembly including an uplift dust-shielding enclosure having one end thereof attached to a lower distal end portion of the enclosure of said second conveyor means and extending from said attached end parallel to said second conveyor means and having an inlet opening at its lower end, means for advancing such bulk material through said uplift enclosure to said lower distal end portion at a rate slower than the rate the bulk material portions pass through said second conveyor means enclosure; said feeder assembly also including a collecting portion pivotally supported on and projecting transversely outward from the lower end portion of the uplift enclosure, said collecting portion being pivotably adjustable about an axis which lies generally perpendicular to the axis of said uplift enclosure, said collecting portion having bulk material contacting means for engaging and advancing portions of the bulk material toward the uplift enclosure lower end portion and into said inlet opening whereby the bulk material portions sequentially move therefrom through the uplift enclosure, the second conveyor means enclosure, the first conveyor means enclosure, and out the discharge end thereof to the predetermined second location; and
- an elongated transfer means disposed along the path of travel of said support means, said transfer means including an elongated enclosure aligned with the predetermined path of travel of said support means and an elongated conveyor element disposed within said elongated enclosure, extending to the second location, and having a segment thereof subtending said support means, said enclosure having the side thereof adjacent the support means provided with an elongated flexible web of dust-shielding material normally closing said enclosure side, said web having successive segments thereof temporarily disengaged from said enclosure side and overlying a discharge means carried on said support means and coacting therewith to effect a substantially dust-tight communication between said discharge means and the elongated enclosure of said transfer means as the support means moves along said predetermined path.
- 19. Apparatus according to claim 18 wherein said elongated enclosure of said elongated transfer means comprises a trough, having an open side, and said flexible web having elongated portions normally engaging said trough at opposite edges of said open side.
- 20. Apparatus according to claim 18 wherein the discharge means carried on the support means includes means engaging and repositioning said web segments into yieldable engagement with the enclosure subsequent to the support means having moved past the web segment.
- 21. An apparatus for transferring a supply of dusty bulk material disposed at a first location, to a predetermined second location comprising;
- support means proximate the second location and being selectively rotatable about a substantially vertical first axis;
- an elongated first conveyor means connected to and moveale as a unit with said support means about said first axis and being selectively, pivotally, movable independently of said support means about a second axis, said conveyor means including an elongated dust-shielding enclosure through which portions of the bulk material pass in a direction toward a discharge end formed in said enclosure, said discharge end being adjacent said support means;
- an elongated second conveyor means spaced from said support means and connected to and depending from a distal portion of said first conveyor means and being selectively, pivotally, movable independently of said first conveyor means, said second conveyor means including an elongated dust-shielding enclosure through which portions of the bulk material pass in a direction toward an inlet end of the enclosure of said first conveyor means; and
- feeder means including an uplift dust-shielding enclosure having one end thereof attached to a lower distal end portion of the enclosure of said second conveyor means and through which portions of the bulk material pass in a direction toward the said lower distal end portion at a rate slower than the rate the bulk material portions pass through said second conveyor means enclosure; said feeder means also including a collecting portion adjustably connected to and projecting angularly outwardly from a second end of the uplift enclosure, said collecting portion having bulk material contacting means for advancing portions of the bulk material toward the uplift enclosure second end whereby the bulk material portions sequentially move therefrom through the uplift enclosure, the second conveyor means enclosure, the first conveyor means enclosure, and out the discharge end thereof to the predetermined second location;
- said enclosure of at least the second conveyor means having a selectively operable aeration means for injecting a compressed gaseous medium into the interior thereof while portions of the bulk material are passing therethrough and a hydraulically activated auger for moving the bulk material portions through the enclosure, said auger being disposed within said enclosure, the actuation of the aeration means being responsive to a pressure drop across a hydraulic line for a hydraulic motor which rotates the auger.
- 22. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the bulk material contacting means includes at least one auger with helical flighting discharging toward the uplift enclosure.
- 23. Apparatus according to claim 22, wherein said feeder assembly includes scraper means selectively operable independently of said auger.
- 24. Apparatus according to claim 1 including a scraper panel attached to said feeder assembly for selective extension and retraction into and out of a scraping portion for scraping bulk materials at the first location when extended.
- 25. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said apparatus further comprises means for rotating said uplift dust-shielding enclosure relative to said second conveyor means.
