Claims
- 1. A combination for effecting vaporisation of a liquid halocarbon at elevated pressures at which the halocarbon is prone to degrade when vaporised at its boiling temperature at such elevated pressure, said combination comprising apparatus in combination with said halocarbon and hydrogen fluoride, said apparatus comprising:a vessel to which the halocarbon and hydrogen fluoride are supplied, the hydrogen fluoride being so selected that it produces with said halocarbon a mixture having a boiling point substantially less than the boiling point of the halocarbon; means for intimately mixing the halocarbon and hydrogen fluoride; means for heating the mixture of halocarbon and hydrogen fluoride within the vessel to effect co-vaporisation of the mixture; and means for feeding the vaporised mixture to a process for utilizing the resulting vaporised mixture.
- 2. The combination as claimed in claim 1 including means for processing boiling vapour/liquid generated in said vessel to produce a liquid phase and a vapour phase, and means for recycling the liquid phase to the vessel, the vapour phase being fed to said process for utilizing the vaporised mixture.
- 3. The combination as claimed in claim 2 in which the recycled liquid is mixed with a fresh mixture of said halocarbon and said hydrogen fluoride prior to re-introduction into the vessel.
- 4. The combination as claimed in claim 1 in which the halocarbon comprises a chlorocarbon.
- 5. The combination as claimed in claim 1 in which the halocarbon comprises a chloroethane or chloroethene.
- 6. The combination as claimed in claim 1 in which the halocarbon comprises trichloroethylene or perchloroethylene.
- 7. The combination as claimed in claim 1 in which the halocarbon comprises 1,1,1,2-tetrachloroethane or 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane.
- 8. The combination as claimed in claim 1 which the halocarbon and hydrogen fluoride are at said elevated pressure in said apparatus.
