Claims
- 1. An apparatus for winding a length of wire on a toroidal core to form a coil thereon, the apparatus comprising:
- means providing first and second substantially circular and parallel surfaces defining a substantially circular slit therebetween;
- an annular wire guide means formed with a cutout, said wire guide means including means defining a substantially annular groove extending along an outer periphery of said circular slit and having, as viewed in an axial section, first and second wire-guiding surfaces spaced radially of the annulus and extending circumferentially thereof, and a substantially annular third wire guiding surface forming a bottom of said annular groove, said second wire-guiding surface being radially inward of said first wire-guiding surface and having an axial dimension shorter than an axial dimension of said first-wire guiding surface, said wire guide means further including means providing a fourth wire-guiding surface extending over said annular groove to cooperate therewith to define an annular wire guide channel with a radially inward faced gap left between said second and fourth wire-guiding surfaces such that said annular wire guide channel is communicated with said circular slit through said radially inwardly faced gap;
- feed roller means including a plurality of pairs of feed rollers, each pair of feed rollers comprising inner and outer rollers, the inner roller being disposed radially inwardly of said first wire-guiding surface, the rollers of each pair engaging each other inside the annular groove and having axes of rotation located perpendicular to a plane in which the annular wire guide means is located;
- at least one core holding means for holding the toroidal corn in a position in which the wire winding portion of the toroidal core is disposed in said cutout of the annular wire guide means;
- means for drivingly rotating said feed roller means whereby the wire is fed through the annular groove to form a loop in which the wire winding portion of the toroidal core is included; and
- means for bringing the inner rollers of the plurality of pairs of rollers out of engagement with their respective associated rollers and moving the inner rollers way from said circular slit; whereby the wire of the loop can be moved through said circular slit to reduce the size of the loop until the wire is wound around the wire winding portion of the core.
- 2. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a pad supported for vertical movement in a position disposed on the wire outlet side of the core disposed inside the annular wire guide.
- 3. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a pin supported for vertical and pivotal movements in a position substantially diametrically opposite said toroidal core.
- 4. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core as claimed in claim 3, further comprising sensor means located on an imaginary straight line connecting the toroidal core to one of the plurality of pairs of rollers of the feed roller means for monitoring the passage of the wire.
- 5. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core as claimed in claim 1, further comprising wire insertion guide means supported for vertical movement in a position disposed in the cutout formed in a base and located on the wire insertion side of the core.
- 6. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core as claimed in claim 1, further comprising first nozzle means for feeding air currents from a slit toward the annular wire guide means.
- 7. An apparatus for feeding air currents toward the toroidal core as claimed in claim 6, further comprising second nozzle means for feeding air currents toward the toroidal core from the wire insertion side thereof.
- 8. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said means for bringing includes shafts for the inner rollers of the respective pairs of rollers and means supporting the shafts for pivotal movement between a first position in which the inner rollers are engaged with their associated rollers and a second position in which the inner rollers are moved away from said circular slit.
- 9. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein at least one of said pairs of feed rollers is operative to feed the wire along said annular wire channel and also to apply tension to the wire of the loop to pull the wire onto the winding portion of the core.
- 10. An apparatus according to claim 8, wherein at least one of said pairs of feed rollers is operative to feed the wire along said annular wire guide channel and also to apply tension to the wire of the loop to pull the wire onto the wire winding portion of the core.
- 11. An apparatus for winding a length of wires on a toroidal coil to form a coil thereon, the apparatus comprising:
- means for defining first and second substantially circular and parallel surfaces defining a substantially circular slit therebetween; annular wire guide means formed with a cutout, said wire guide means including means defining a substantially annular groove extending along an outer periphery of said circular slit and having, as viewed in an axial section, first and second wire-guiding surfaces spaced radially of the annulus and extending circumferentially thereof and a substantially annular third wire-guiding surface forming a bottom of said annular groove, said second wire-guiding surface being radially inward of said first wire-guiding surface and having an axial dimension shorter than an axial dimension of said first wire-guiding surface, said wire guide means further including means providing a fourth wire-guiding surface extending over said annular groove to cooperates therewith to define an annular wire guide channel with a radially inwardly faced gap left between said second and fourth wire-guiding surfaces such that said annular wire guide channel is communicated with said circular slit through said radially inwardly faced gap; feed roller means including a plurality of pairs of rollers for feeding the wire along said annular wire guide means, each pair of said plurality of pairs of feed roller means comprising inner and outer rollers having axes of rotation perpendicular to the first and second parallel surfaces, the inner roller being disposed radially inwardly of said first wire-guiding surface;
- means for bringing the inner rollers of the plurality of pairs of rollers out of engagement with their respective associated rollers and moving the inner rollers away from said circular slit whereby the wire of the loop can be moved through said circular slit to reduce the size of the loop until the wire is wound around the wire winding portion of the core; and
- at least one core holding unit for holding the toroidal core in a position in which a core window is disposed in a portion of the annular wire guide means.
- 12. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core as claimed in claim 11, further comprising means for holding the wire inside the annular wire guide means, and a pin for controlling the direction or the intensity of tension imparted to the wire, including a means for moving the core vertically a distance corresponding to the diameter of the wire each time one turn of the wire is wound.
- 13. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core as claimed in claim 11, further comprising movable wire guide means located on the wire insertion side of the core window.
- 14. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core as claimed in claim 11, further comprising means for feeding air currents from the wire insertion side of the core toward the core window.
- 15. An apparatus for winding a length of wire on a toroidal core to form a coil thereon, the apparatus comprising:
- means for providing first and second substantially circular and parallel surfaces defining a substantially circular slit therebetween;
- an annular wire guide means formed with a cutout, said wire guide means including means defining a substantially annular groove extending along an outer periphery of said circular slit and having, as viewed in an axial section, first and second wireguiding surfaces spaced radially of the annulus and extending circumferentially thereof and a substantially annular third wireguiding surface forming a bottom of said annular groove, said second wire-guiding surface being radially inward of said first wire-guiding surface and having an axial dimension shorter than an axial dimension of said first wire-guiding surface, said wire guide means further including means providing a fourth wireguiding surface extending over said annular groove to cooperate therewith to define an annular wire guide channel with a radially inwardly faced gap left between said second and fourth wireguiding surfaces such that said annular wire guide channel is communicated with said circular slit through said radially inwardly faced gap;
- feed roller means comprising a plurality of pairs of feed rollers having rotational axes perpendicular to the first and second wire guiding surfaces, each pair of said plurality of pairs of feed rollers comprising inner and outer rollers, the inner roller being disposed radially inwardly of said first wire-guiding surface, one of the rollers of each pair being movable between a first position in which said movable roller is in roller engagement with the other roller and a second position in which said movable roller is out of engagement with the other roller;
- a core window means in the toroidal core bounded by the annular wire-guide means;
- means for holding the toroidal core in a predetermined position in which the core window means is positioned adjacent to a portion of said annular wire guide means and directed in a circumferential direction thereof;
- means for moving the rollers of the respective pairs of rollers between said first and second position; and
- means for drivingly rotating said feed roller means whereby the wire is fed through the annular wire guide channel to form a loop in which the wire winding portion of the toroidal core is included.
- 16. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core according to claim 15, further comprising:
- a vertically movable pad means on an outlet side of the core window means; and
- a pivotal and vertically movable pin at a position substantially diametrically opposite the pad means.
- 17. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core according to claim 15, further comprising:
- a wire insertion portion provided on said annular wire guide face; and
- a cover means.
- 18. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core according to claim 15, further comprising:
- means for feeding air currents toward the annular guide face while the wire is being wound on the toroidal core.
- 19. An apparatus for winding a coil on a toroidal core according to claim 15, further comprising:
- means for feeding air currents from a wire inlet side of the core window means toward the core window means when the wire is wound on the toroidal core.
