- a ring member comprising a vertically extending web having an inner side and an outer side, and a horizontally extending peripheral flange;
- means, for supporting said ring member upon said second frame means for rotation relative to said second frame means about a vertical ring axis, comprising a plurality of wheels mounted upon said second frame means, angularly spaced apart about said ring axis, roattable about horizontal axes, and disposed beneath said horisontally extending peripheral flange of said ring member;
- film carriage means mounted upon said ring member for wrapping film material about said article during rotation of said ring member relative to said second frame means and about said ring axis; and
- means for rotating said ring member about said ring axis comprising a pari of wheels mounted upon said second frame means, rotatable about vertical axes, and cooperating together to drivingly engage said inner side and said outer side of said web of said ring member, with said web interposed between said pair of wheels such that upon driving rotation of at least one of said pair of wheels, said ring member is caused to rotate about said vertical ring axis.
- 8. The apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said at least one of said pair of wheels is in frictional engagement with said web.
- 9. The apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said at least one of said pair of wheels is a drive wheel and said means to rotate said ring member includes means on said second frame means to rotate said drive wheel.
- 10. The apparatus according to claim 9, further comprising means for radially adjusting the other one of said pair of wheels relative to said ring axis.
- 11. The apparatus as set forth in claim 1, further comprising:
- a roll of film material mounted upon said film carriage means for supplying said film material to be wrapped about said article.
- 12. Apparatus as set forth in claim 11, further comprising:
- film clamping and sealing means, mounted upon said second frame means, for engaging said film material to be wrapped about said article, withdrawing said film material from said roll of film material, severing said wrapped film material from said film material disposed upon said roll of film material, and sealing said film material wrapped upon said article.
- 13. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1, further comprising:
- conveyor means for conveying said article to be wrapped to a predetermined position with respect to said vertical ring axis; and
- said first frame means comprises four upright posts arranged in a substantially square configuration with pairs of said upright posts disposed upon opposite sides of said conveyor means.
- 14. Apparatus as set forth in claim 13, wherein:
- at least two of said four upright posts of said first frame means, disposed at diagonally opposite locations of said substantially square configuration, comprise channel members; and
- said second frame means comprises at least two guide block members disposed within said channel members of said first frame means for providing guided reciprocal movement for said second frame means with respect to said first frame means.
- 15. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1, further comprising:
- chain support and drive means for suspendingly supporting said second frame means upon said first frame means and for moving said second frame means in a vertically reciprocable manner with respect to said first frame means.
- 16. The apparatus as set forth in claim 7, further comprising:
- a second pair of wheels mounted upon said second frame means, rotatable about vertical axes, angularly spaced from said pair of wheels about said vertical ring axis, and engaged with said inner side and said outer side of said web of said ring member, with said web interposed between said second pair of wheels, such that said ring member is guidably rotated at two angularly spaced locations with respect to said ring axis.
