The present disclosure is directed to improvements on the durability and permeability of privacy insert apparatuses and corresponding storage apparatuses for use in garments.
Garments are often designed without the proper foresight or consideration that when, in the course of wear, the garment's fit around the crotch area may begin to easily reveal creases and lines in the crotch region. The tight fit of these garments cause fabrics to cling to the natural curvature of a person's private area, which creates an uncomfortable contour for the wearer. The depiction of this curvature creates an embarrassing and undesirable effect.
A tight fitting and clingy garment in the crotch area creates a challenge of privacy for the wearer and is often referred to as, ‘cameltoe’. The exposure of such contours should be up to the wearer, and currently there are no solutions to easily conceal the undesirable contour. These challenges are especially prevalent for individuals who are highly active. These challenges often lead to the wearer needing to resort to subpar solutions and use a great deal of effort to attempt to conceal these anatomical lines. In many cases, the wearer will have to refrain from wearing certain types of garments, which is restrictive. This type of desired privacy should be something that is easily attainable.
Apparatuses synonymous to privacy inserts have evolved over the decades. Some examples of current privacy apparatuses include those composed of cotton, polyester, or other absorbent materials, and variations of absorbent pads, which are not applicable for swimwear garments. Other example apparatuses harness an adhesive backing. The problem with this approach is that the adhesive backing wears with use and moisture or water contact. Other examples of privacy apparatuses on the market include liners that are thick and padded, which may leave an outline of the liner, causing undesirable contours of their own. Another current approach to this problem, specifically applicable to swimwear, includes wearing a thinner underwear-like garment under a swimsuit to try and conceal lines. The style of swimsuits that are currently popular are higher and cheekier cuts, so this approach of doubling up on swimsuits will lead to the under layer shifting. Current privacy apparatuses do not provide a suitable solution for every type of garment.
Storage apparatuses for privacy inserts and the like are not hyper-present on the market. Some examples of current storage apparatuses for privacy inserts include those made of cloth, padded fabric pockets, fabric and elastic pockets, and other materials. While these approaches may be sufficient for some garments, they are not a sufficient solution for all types of garments. For example, in swimwear and athletic wear, there is a need for a storage apparatus that has enhanced durability and permeability. This is especially crucial when considering garments that are worn in environments where sand, snow, other terrain, or debris may become entrapped in the garments.
Accordingly, in view of the drawbacks and disadvantages of current privacy apparatuses and their counterpart storage apparatuses, there is a need for a versatile privacy insert apparatus that provides sufficient privacy for every type of garment. There is also a need for the aforementioned privacy insert apparatus and its corresponding storage apparatus to possess improved durability and permeability.
The present disclosure provides a variety of embodiments of a privacy insert apparatus for incorporation or use in conjunction with a storage apparatus to be fastened, or pre-fastened, to a variety of garments to conceal, eliminate, and/or obfuscate the undesirable exposure of a person's anatomy.
Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide for a privacy insert apparatus comprising silicone, to provide privacy in the crotch area of garments. The silicone has a smooth surface that enables it to slide in and out of the pocket material with minimal friction. The middle of the privacy insert apparatus is the thickest portion, while the edges taper out and become thinner to seamlessly blend into the garment. The middle portion of the privacy insert apparatus has a thickness of between about 1.0 mm and about 6.0 mm. The edges of the privacy insert apparatus have a thickness of between about 0.2 mm and about 3.0 mm. The length of the privacy insert apparatus is between about 7.6 cm and about 17.7 cm. The width of the privacy insert apparatus is between about 2.5 cm and about 12.7 cm.
Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide for a storage apparatus. The material of the storage apparatus may comprise nylon, polyester, elastane, polybutylene terephthalate, neoprene, power mesh, or cotton. The material of the storage apparatus may comprise the properties of durability, elasticity, quick-dry, ultraviolet resistance, or chlorine resistance. The storage apparatus may include gaps in the fastening at the bottom and along the sides, gaps in the fastening along the sides, or gaps in the fastening at the bottom. The storage apparatus is held together by polyester, nylon, or cotton thread.
Some embodiments of the present disclosure provides for a method of producing a privacy insert apparatus, wherein liquid silicone is poured into a pre-made mold. In some embodiments, the liquid silicone is medical grade liquid silicone.

In some examples, silicone can maintain stable physical and mechanical properties across a wide temperature range. Silicone is non-reactive and non-toxic. Silicone is chemically inert and bodily substances will not alter its composition. Silicone has naturally low thermal conductivity. Silicone is highly water repellent. Silicone is extremely resistant to degradation by both radiation and oxidation. Silicone is highly permeable to gas molecules.
