The invention relates to the domain of applicator dispensers for a powder product, typically a powder cosmetic product intended for face makeup.
A large number of powder product applicator dispensers are already known. In many cases, these applicator dispensers comprise a powder reservoir above which there is an applicator, for example as in patents U.S. Pat. No. 4,626,119, EP 0 364 667, FR 2 802 069, FR 2 823 081.
Furthermore, a large number of powder product dispensers are also known including an application means in the form of a powder puff in the case in which the powder is in the form of an agglomerated block, these dispensers then being classical makeup compacts.
Finally, patent FR 2 848 392 issued in the name of the applicant also describes a-non agglomerated powder dispenser comprising an application means with a role equivalent to a powder puff in a traditional compact.
Firstly, many applicator dispensers according to the state of the art are relatively large, and are designed to be placed on a bathroom shelve. Therefore, there is a need for “mobile” applicator dispensers with a relatively modest size so that they can for example be carried in a handbag.
Furthermore, it is important that these applicator dispensers should be ergonomic in use, and that they prevent the fingers from getting dirty.
Furthermore, there is a need for dispensers that are easy to manipulate while applying the said powder and are also slender, for example something like the shape of a lipstick tube.
Furthermore, a ongoing renewal of products and packaging is necessary in the domain of cosmetic products.
Finally, considering changes to powder formulas, in some cases it may be useful if these applicator dispensers are relatively leak tight so as to prevent any evaporation of a volatile constituent of the said powder.
According to the invention, the applicator dispenser of a powder product, and typically a cosmetic product forming a powder, comprises a) a receptacle forming a reservoir that will contain the said powder product, the said receptacle comprising a sidewall, an upper dome with perforations something like a netting with at least one orifice or a plurality of orifices through which the said powder can pass so that it can be used, and typically a bottom, b) a cap or cover comprising a head and a side skirt cooperating with the said receptacle when the said applicator dispenser is closed so as to close the said receptacle, and c) an application means for the said powder housed between the said head and the said dome.
It is characterised in that:
1) the said application means is fixed to the said cap due to an attachment means to form an applicator, such that the said cap acts like a manual means of gripping the said application means without any risk of getting the fingers dirty,
2) it has an H/D shape factor equal to at least 1.5, so that the applicator dispenser is longitudinal and has an axial direction, where H is the height of the said applicator dispenser along the said axial direction, and D denotes its maximum transverse dimension or its diameter in the case of an applicator dispenser with a constant circular cross section over all of the said height H.
The applicator dispensers according to the invention solve the problems that arise.
These applicator dispensers are “mobile” applicator dispensers with a relatively modest size and that can be carried, for example in a handbag.
Furthermore, the said cap used as a means of manually gripping the said application means, therefore there is no risk of getting the fingers dirty during application of the said product.
It is also easier to manipulate a relatively lightweight cap than the body of the dispenser containing the said product, that is necessarily heavier and larger.
Furthermore, considering its slender shape, the shape of the applicator dispenser according to the invention is similar to the shape of a lipstick tube.
Finally, the applicator dispenser according to the invention changes the shape of powder dispensers, which is commercially very advantageous.

In this embodiment, the receptacle (2) is a tube (29) that is shown in the upside down position (before filling in

According to the invention the said H/D shape factor may be equal to at least 2, and preferably equal to at least 3.
Thus for example, the dispenser illustrated in

As illustrated in
The said lower end (611) may typically be force fitted into the said annular cavity (52) so as to create a leak tight and mechanically fixed connection between the said outer body (5) and the said inner part (6).
However as illustrated in
As illustrated in
According to the invention and as diagrammatically illustrated in
Typically, the said application means (4) may form a longitudinal application block (40) with height HA varying from 10 mm to 60 mm and preferably from 20 mm to 50 mm.
According to one embodiment of the invention illustrated in
As illustrated in
As illustrated in
These projections may comprise a hook (350) at their ends.
As shown in
As illustrated in
Typically, the said application means (4) or the said application block (40) or the said application material (43) may include or may be composed of a material in the divided or fibrous or honeycomb state, for example a honeycomb foam or a felt, capable of retaining a fraction of the said powder for subsequent application typically onto the face.
As illustrated particularly in
The said upper skirt (25, 53, 62) may be coaxial with the said axial projection (33) along the said axial direction (10), typically with the said tube portion (34) or the said plurality of projections (35).
As illustrated particularly in
According to the invention and as illustrated in
Advantageously, the said cap (3) is screwed to the said receptacle (2) by a so-called direct rotation of the said cap (3) and the said applicator dispenser (1, 1′) thus being closed, the said cap (3) and the said receptacle (2) may cooperate so as to form a blocking means to prevent accidental inverse rotation of the said cap (3).
Thus, as can be seen in
As shown in
Typically, the said castellated part (332) of the said cap (3) and the said complementary castellated part (251, 531, 621) of the said upper skirt (25, 53, 62) may be chosen such that the said maximum value CVM remains constant during the said screwing, the said screwing being terminated when a part of the said cap (3) comes into axial stop with a part facing the said receptacle (2).
However, the said castellated part (332) of the said cap (3) and the said complementary castellated part (251, 531, 621) of the said upper skirt (25, 53, 62) may be chosen such that the said maximum value CVM increases progressively during the said screwing.
As illustrated in
Preferably, all or part of the said application means (4) may have an axial resilience or elasticity so that it is in a state of slight axial compression between the said head (30) and the said upper dome (22) when the said applicator dispenser (1, 1′) is closed, the said slight axial compression corresponding to a reduction in the height of the said application means typically varying from 2% to 20%.
Thus, the orifice (23) or the plurality of orifices (24) are closed off when the said dispenser is closed, so that the said product remains confined in the said reservoir (27).
As illustrated in
In the dispenser embodiment shown in

As illustrated particularly in
According to the invention, the said reservoir (27) may have an inner capacity or volume typically varying from 2 to 10 cm3 and preferably from 3 cm3 to 5 cm3. Although the invention is not limited to small “nomad” applicator dispensers, its prime application is applicator dispensers with a shape and size similar to the shape and size of lipstick tubes.
This was done firstly by procuring or manufacturing the component parts of the applicator dispenser (1, 1′), namely:
a) the outer body (5) corresponding to
Dimensions of this outer body (5) with a bent profile: height 41.5 mm, largest diameter 18.21 mm and smallest diameter 16.62 mm.
b) the inner part (6) corresponding to
Dimensions of the inner part (6):
c) the cap (3) corresponding to
Cap Dimensions:
d) 30 mm high blocks of application material (4, 40) were cut out with a diameter approximately equal to the inside diameter of the said tube portion (34), from an NBR synthetic foam.
The next step was to force fit the block of application material (40) into the said tube portion (34) so as to form the applicator (9), that is assembled by screwing to the inner part (6).
After the assembly (9+6) obtained above has been filled through the bottom, the outer body (5) is clicked fitted.
Similarly, an applicator dispenser (1, 1′) was made according to
In this case, the said inner part (6) comprises a short skirt (610″) that will cooperate with the end (511) of the outer wall (51) by a click fit type assembly (28) of male and female parts.
An applicator dispenser (1, 1′) was also made in a similar manner according to
The applicators (9) were made according to

Firstly, the dispensers (1, 1′) according to the invention are very practical to use, since they are used to apply a makeup powder without any risk of getting dirty.
Thus, these dispensers (1, 1′) may form an alternative to compacts that contain a power in agglomerated form.
Furthermore, these dispensers may be leak tight, so as to enable packaging of powders that may contain a constituent that could evaporate.
Finally, these dispensers (1, 1′) renew the packaging of powder cosmetic products with a shape and volume similar to the volume and shape of lipstick tubes, which is advantageous for building product ranges with a high aesthetic quality.
