Claims
- 1. A method of applying a wrap of the type used in sports, the method comprising the steps of:providing a spool having a circumferential receiving surface on which the wrap is removably wound, the receiving surface having an axial length substantially corresponding to the width of the wrap to receive both of the side edges of the wrap on the receiving surface without needing to fold or crease the wrap, the spool having a circumference substantially corresponding to the average circumference of the hand to be wrapped; providing a spindle secured to and extending outwardly from the spool, the spindle being non-rotatable relative to the spool; providing a wrap of flexible planar material wound around the spool, the wrap having an outside end when wrapped around the spool; holding the spool by the spindle in a first hand; securing the outside end of the wrap to a second hand to be wrapped; grasping the spindle with the first hand while the wrap is being applied to the second hand; tensioning the wrap being applied by pulling the spindle and the hand relatively away from each other; and orbiting the spool and the second hand relative to each other in a direction to unwind the wrap from the spool and to apply the wrap to the second hand.
- 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step ofregulating the tension of the wrap being applied by varying how hard the first hand holds the spindle.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the orbiting step includes the step of avoiding twists in the wrap by keeping the wound wrap on the spool relatively aligned with the second hand during the orbiting step.
