The present invention relates to finger nail polish, and more particularly to containers and applicators for finger nail polish.
Finger nail polish constantly chips and is therefore, frequently in need of a touch up to restore the finish of the nail polish. While most nail polish container vials have a self-contained applicator brush, the size of the vials are rather large and are not typically an item that people bring with them when going out for the day. Conventional, bottles of nail polish can add to the clutter of a purse or other carrying bags, nor are they fashionable.
As can be seen, there is a need for an improved nail polish applicator to permit convenient touch ups to chipped nails that may be carried by the user in a fashionable manner.
In one aspect of the present invention, an applicator ring is disclosed. The applicator ring includes a band dimensioned to encircle a majority of a wearer's finger. A reservoir is coupled to the band and is dimensioned to contain a quantity of a cosmetic product. A cap sealingly closes an opening to the reservoir. A brush extends from the cap into the reservoir and is adapted to apply the cosmetic product.
In some embodiments, a first well portion extends around an upper arc of the band. In other embodiments, a second well portion extends around the upper arc of the band opposite the first well portion.
In other embodiments, a quantity of the cosmetic product is received in the reservoir. The cosmetic product may be a nail polish. Alternatively, the cosmetic product is selected from the group consisting of a lip gloss and a lip balm.
In other aspects of the invention, an applicator ring is disclosed. The applicator ring includes a band dimensioned to receive a wearer's finger. A reservoir extends from an upper arc of the band. The reservoir dimensioned to contain a quantity of a cosmetic product. A cap is provided to sealingly close an opening to the reservoir. A brush extends from the cap into the reservoir and the brush is adapted to apply the cosmetic product.
In some embodiments, the reservoir has a first well portion extending around an upper arc of the band. In other embodiments, the reservoir has a second well portion extending around the upper arc of the band opposite the first well portion.
In other embodiments, a quantity of the cosmetic product is received in the reservoir. The cap may include a decorative jewelry item.
In other aspects of the invention, a method of applying a cosmetic composition is disclosed. The method includes providing a reservoir dimensioned to contain a quantity of the cosmetic composition. The reservoir is affixed to a band dimensioned to receive a wearer's finger. The reservoir has a cap to sealingly close an opening to the reservoir and a brush extending from the cap into the reservoir. The brush is adapted to apply the cosmetic product.
The method includes filling the reservoir with the cosmetic composition. In other method steps, the cap is removed from the reservoir. The cosmetic composition may then be applied with the brush. The cap may then be reapplied to the reservoir.
These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention.
Broadly, embodiments of the present invention provides a self-contained portable applicator ring that is conveniently carried in a fashionable ring.
As seen in reference to the drawings of
The cap 12 includes a brush 18 that is carried within the interior of the cap 12 so that it extends within the internal reservoir 24 with the cap 12 applied to the ring 10. The claimed applicator ring 10 differs from what currently exists. While there are bottles of nail polish and there are rings that people wear as fashion accessories, there is heretofore no combination of the two in the manner described herein.
In preferred embodiments, the internal reservoir 24 extends around an upper arc of a ring band 14 to provide for containing a greater quantity of nail polish 16. The ring band 14 is defined to encircle a majority of the user's finger. The band 14 may either be in a split configuration or as a continuous band 14 that encircles the user's finger.
The cap 12 may be oriented so that the brush 18 extends somewhat tangentially across the face of the ring 10 so that it may extend into one of a first well 26 or a second well portion 26 of the interior reservoir 24. For example, if the quantity of nail polish 16 in the first well portion 26 of the internal reservoir 24 runs low, the user may simply rotate or tip the ring 10 about an axis of the band 14 aligned with the wearer's finger to allow the residual quantity of nail polish 16 in the second well portion 26 of the reservoir 24 to flow into the first well portion 26 of the reservoir 24.
The present invention described herein allows a person to constantly have a quantity of nail polish 16 readily available for convenient touch ups in a fashionable manner. The reservoir 24 carried by the ring 10 is filled with the nail polish liquid 16 and then the cap 12 with the attached brush 18 is screwed onto the ring.
In use, the user would put the ring 10 on their finger. When needed for a touch-up application, the user would unscrew the 12 cap with attached brush 18 and use the brush 18 to apply polish 16 to their nails 22 with the nail polish liquid 16. The placement of the applicator and reservoir 24 on the user's finger, makes the present invention particularly useful for touch-ups on the go, as the ring 10 can be retained and positioned on the user's finger while applying the needed touch-up. Once the touch-up polish 16 has been applied the user can replace the cap 12 to secure the reservoir 24.
The ring 10 may be formed of an acrylic plastic, crystal, metals, including precious metals, or any suitable material. An outer surface of the ring 10 may include decorative adornments, including synthetic or genuine gemstones, surface designs, and other fashionable ring decorative features. Likewise, the cap 12 may be similarly adorned.
The applicator rings 10 of the present invention may be produced and distributed with or without the nail polish 16 carried within the internal reservoir 24. As will be appreciated, the rings 10 may be produced in a variety of sizes and styles. The user would wear the ring 10 and be able to paint their nails 22 and do touch ups whenever and where ever they would like. The applicator ring 10 may also be utilized to contain a quantity of lip gloss or lip balm that the user may apply on the go.
It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth herein.
