Claims
- 1. An aquatic exercise device adapted for a human body, comprising:
- at least two substantially identical flexible sheets of gas impermeable material being sealed together to form a plurality of separate variably inflatable chambers, each of said chambers having an outlet means for selectively inflating, deflating and sealing said chamber;
- means for permitting a user to duplicate running, when said chambers are inflated and said device is placed in water, so that the motion of the user's arms are unimpeded, said permitting means including a strip formed between at least two of said chambers to define a hinge therebetween, said at least two of said chambers, when inflated, cooperating with said hinge and adapted to conform said device closely to the contours of at least a torso portion of a human body; and
- means for attaching said at least two sheets to the human body.
- 2. The aquatic exercise device according to claim 1, wherein said plurality of chambers include at least five chambers, said chambers including a middle chamber, a pair of end chambers and a pair of intermediate chambers.
- 3. The aquatic exercise device according to claim 2, wherein each one of said intermediate chambers is disposed between said middle chamber and a respective one of said end chambers, an uninflatable strip being disposed between each of said adjacent chambers to form a hinge therebetween, said chambers and said hinges being adapted to resist movement between said device and the human body.
- 4. The aquatic exercise device according to claim 3, wherein said middle chamber is substantially in the shape of a trapezoid having a greater length upper base and a lesser length lower base, each of said intermediate chambers being substantially in the shape of a trapezoid, each of said intermediate chambers having a greater length lower base adjacent said middle chambers lower base and each of said intermediate chambers lesser length upper base adjacent said middle chambers upper base.
- 5. The aquatic exercise device according to claim 4, wherein one of said end chambers being adjacent to one of said intermediate chambers such that said one intermediate chambers is disposed between said middle chamber and said one end chambers, each of said end chambers being substantially in the shape of a trapezoid, said one end chamber having a lesser length edge remote from said one intermediate chamber, said end chamber having a greater length edge on a side adjacent to said adjacent intermediate chamber.
- 6. The aquatic exercise device according to claim 1, wherein said strip is uninflatable.
