Claims
- 1. An aqueous dispersion comprising:
- a particulate solid material having a hydrophobic outer surface, the particulate solid material selected from the group consisting of calcium carbonate, kaolin, and pyrophyllite;
- up to about 30% by volume of an alcohol enabling said particulate solid material to form a dispersion in water and to retain the hydrophobic outer surface upon drying; and
- water.
- 2. The aqueous dispersion of claim 1, wherein the particulate solid material has a mean particle size below about 3 microns.
- 3. The aqueous dispersion of claim 1, wherein up to 90% of the particulate solid material has a mean particle size below about 10 microns.
- 4. The aqueous dispersion of claim 1, wherein the particulate solid material comprises a non-hydrophobic core and a hydrophobic outer surface.
- 5. An aqueous dispersion comprising:
- a particulate solid material having a hydrophobic outer surface, the particulate solid material comprising kaolin;
- up to about 30% by volume of an alcohol enabling said particulate solid material to form a dispersion in water and to retain the hydrophobic outer surface upon drying; and
- water.
- 6. The aqueous dispersion of claim 5, wherein the particulate solid material has a mean particle size below about 3 microns.
- 7. The aqueous dispersion of claim 5, wherein up to 90% of the particulate solid material has a mean particle size below about 10 microns.
- 8. The aqueous dispersion of claim 5, wherein the particulate solid material comprises a non-hydrophobic core and a hydrophobic outer surface.
