The disclosure relates to archery devices and more particularly pertains to a new archery device for issuing an audible click when an arrow is fully drawn in a bow.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a mount that may be coupled to a bow. A clicker is movably coupled to the mount. The clicker includes a magnet and the magnet is magnetically attracted to a tip of an arrow. The magnet frictionally engages the arrow when the arrow is fully drawn thereby facilitating the clicker to make an audible click when the arrow is fully drawn.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
The mount 12 comprises a plate 18 that has a first end 20, a second end 22, a first surface 24 and a second surface 26. The plate 18 has a hole 28 extending through the first surface 24 and the second surface 26. The hole 28 is positioned adjacent to the first end 20. The plate 18 has a slot 30 extending through the first surface 24 and the second surface 26. The slot 30 extends substantially between the hole 28 and the second end 22.
A fastener 32 is extended through the slot 30 and engages a riser 34 on the bow 14. Thus, the plate 18 is oriented parallel with the arrow 16 when the arrow 16 is positioned in the bow 14. The plate 18 is oriented such that the first surface 24 of the plate 18 faces the bow 14. The fastener 32 may comprise a screw or the like. A washer 36 is provided and the fastener 32 extends through the washer 36. The washer 36 is positioned between the first surface 24 of the plate 18 and the riser 34 thereby facilitating the plate 18 to be spaced from the riser 34.
A clicker 38 is movably coupled to the mount 12. The clicker 38 is oriented perpendicular to the arrow 16 when the arrow 16 is positioned in the bow 14. The clicker 38 is spaced from the arrow 16 when the arrow 16 is positioned in the bow 14. The clicker 38 includes a magnet 40 and the magnet 40 is magnetically attracted to a tip 42 of the arrow 16. The magnet 40 frictionally engages the arrow 16 when the arrow 16 is fully drawn. Thus, the clicker 38 makes an audible click when the arrow 16 is fully drawn.
The clicker 38 comprises a sleeve 44 that has an outer surface 46 and an inner surface 48. The outer surface 46 is threaded. The inner surface 48 has a first section 50 and a second section 52. The first section 50 has an inside diameter that is greater than an inside diameter of the second section 52. Thus, a ledge 54 is defined between the first section 50 and the second section 52. The outer surface 46 threadably engages the hole 28 in the plate 18. Thus, the sleeve 44 is adjustably coupled to the plate 18 having the second section 52 being directed toward the bow 14.
A nut 56 is threadably coupled to the sleeve 44 and the nut 56 may be manipulated. The nut 56 abuts the first surface 24 of the plate 18. The nut 56 is positioned at a selected point on the sleeve 44. Thus, the sleeve 44 is retained to extend a selected distance beyond the first surface 24.
A cylinder 58 is provided that has a first end 60, a second end 62, an inside surface 64 and an outside surface 66. The outside surface 66 has a front section 68 and a back section 70. The front section 68 has an outside diameter that is greater than an outside diameter of the back section 70. Thus, a lip 72 is defined between the front section 68 and the back section 70.
The inside surface 64 has a first portion 74 and a second portion 76. The first portion 74 has an inside diameter that is greater than an inside diameter of the second portion 76. The back section 70 is inserted into the second section 52 of the sleeve 44 having the lip 72 abutting the sleeve 44. The first end 60 of the cylinder 58 is spaced from the arrow 16 when the arrow 16 is positioned in the bow 14. The magnet 40 is retained within the front section 68 of the cylinder 58 such that the magnet 40 extends beyond the first end 60. The magnet may be pressed into the front section 68 or otherwise frictionally retained in the cylinder 58. The cylinder 58 is comprised of a non-magnetic material.
A bolt 78 is provided that has a primary end 80, a secondary end 82 and an exterior surface 84. The exterior surface 84 is threaded adjacent to the primary end 80. The secondary end 82 has a well 86 extending inwardly toward the primary end 80 and the well 86 has a bounding surface 88. The bolt 78 is inserted into the first section 50 of the sleeve 44 and the primary end 80 is inserted into the back section 70 of the cylinder 58. The bolt 78 threadably engages the back section 70 of the cylinder 58 such that the bolt 78 and the cylinder 58 may each slide freely within the sleeve 44.
The bolt 78 may have a length ranging between approximately fourteen mm and twenty mm. Thus, the bolt 78 may extend outwardly from the sleeve 44 a distance ranging between approximately eight mm and thirteen mm. The bolt 78 has a length of approximately fourteen mm when the clicker 38 is used on an Olympic style bow. The bolt 78 has a length of approximately twenty mm when the clicker 38 is used on a traditional style bow.
A screw 92 threadably engages the bounding surface 88 of the well 86 in the bolt 78 such that the screw 92 is removably coupled to the bolt 78. A biasing member 94 is positioned around the bolt 78. The biasing member 94 extends between the ledge 54 in the sleeve 44 and a head 96 of the screw 92. The biasing member 94 biases each of the cylinder 58 and the bolt 78 away from the arrow 16 such that the magnet 40 is spaced from the arrow 16.
The tip 42 of the arrow 16 is comprised of a magnetically attractive material. The magnet 40 may be spaced from the arrow 16 a distance ranging between two mm and four mm. The nut 56 is manipulated on the sleeve 44 to position the magnet 40 a selected distance from the arrow 16. The magnet 40 urges each of the cylinder 58 and the bolt 78 toward the arrow 16 when the tip 42 of the arrow 16 is aligned with the magnet 40. The tip 42 of the arrow 16 is aligned with the magnet 40 when the arrow 16 is fully drawn in the bow 14. Thus, the magnet 40 frictionally engages the arrow 16 when the arrow 16 is fully drawn.
A cap 98 is positioned over the screw 92. The cap 98 threadably engages the sleeve 44. The cap 98 selectively urges the cylinder 58 inwardly with respect to the sleeve 44. The cap 98 selectively compresses the biasing member 94 between the screw 92 and the ledge 54. Thus, the cap 98 adjusts compression strength of the biasing member 94 between a minimum amount and a maximum amount. The compression strength of the biasing member 94 is directly proportional to a loudness of the click created when the magnet 40 strikes the arrow 16.
In use, the mount 12 is coupled to the bow 14 and he clicker 38 is coupled to the mount 12. The nut 56 is manipulated to space the magnet 40 the selected distance from the arrow 16 when the arrow 16 is positioned in the bow 14. The arrow 16 is drawn in the bow 14 until the tip 42 of the arrow 16 is aligned with the magnet 40. The magnetic attraction between the tip 42 of the arrow 16 and the magnet 40 overcomes the compression strength of the biasing member 94. Thus, the magnet 40 strikes the arrow 16 thereby producing an audible click. The audible click ensures the arrow 16 is fully drawn each time the arrow 16 is shot. The clicker 38 enhances accuracy of the bow 14 and minimizes improper archery technique.
