- each armored cable in said set including a said pattern of visible indicia of different visual appearance than all other armored cables in said set.
- 7. The set of armored cables of claim 6 wherein said pattern comprises a pattern applied along the length of said strip.
- 8. The set of armored cables of claim 7 wherein said pattern comprises a continuous stripe applied along the length of said strip, said stripe being narrower than said strip.
- 9. The set of armored cables of claim 7 wherein said pattern is discontinuous and is applied along the length of said strip.
- 10. The set of armored cables of claim 9 wherein said pattern comprises a sequence of spots.
- 11. A method of making an armored cable sheath comprising
- forming a metal strip into an interlocking helical configuration to produce a conductive tubular structure having an internal passage, an outer surface, a first end, and a second end, said internal passage sized and configured to enclose one or more conductors, and
- selectively applying visible indicia in a pattern on said outer surface.
- 12. The method of claim 11 wherein said pattern of visible indicia is repeated at regular intervals along the length of the sheath.
- 13. The method of claim 11 wherein said conductive tubular structure comprises crowns and valleys of a helically wound strip and said pattern leaves exposed a substantial portion of said outer surface of said crowns.
- 14. The method of claim 11 wherein said pattern comprises a non-conductive material.
- 15. The method of claim 11 wherein said pattern comprises ink, dye, or paint.
- 16. The method of claim 11 wherein said pattern comprises color.
- 17. A method of making an armored cable sheath comprising
- forming a metal strip into an interlocking helical configuration to produce a conductive tubular structure comprising crowns and valleys of a helically wound strip and having an internal passage, an outer surface, a first end, and a second end, said internal passage sized and configured to enclose one or more conductors, and
- selectively applying visible indicia in a pattern on said outer surface, said pattern being repeated at regular intervals along the length of the sheath and leaving exposed a substantial portion of said outer surface of said crowns,
- said pattern comprising a pattern applied along the length of said strip.
- 18. The method of claim 17 wherein said pattern comprises a continuous stripe applied along the length of said strip, said stripe being narrower than said strip.
- 19. The method of claim 17 wherein said pattern is discontinuous and is applied along the length of said strip.
- 20. The method of claim 19 wherein said pattern comprises a sequence of spots.
- 21. An armored cable comprising
- a helically wound metal sheath forming a tubular structure with alternating crowns and valleys along the length of the sheath,
- a pattern of colored markings repeated along the length of the sheath, the pattern leaving exposed portions of the metal sheath on said crowns, and
- conductors within the metal sheath.
- 22. The armored cable of claim 21 wherein said pattern of colored markings is repeated at regular intervals along the length of the sheath.
- 23. The armored cable of claim 21 wherein said tubular structure comprises crowns and valleys of a helically wound strip and said pattern leaves exposed a substantial portion of said outer surface of said crowns.
- 24. The armored cable of claim 21 wherein said pattern comprises a non-conductive material.
- 25. The armored cable of claim 21 wherein said pattern comprises ink, dye, or paint.
- 26. The armored cable of claim 21 wherein said pattern comprises color.
- 27. An armored cable comprising
- a helically wound metal sheath forming a tubular structure with alternating crowns and valleys along the length of the sheath, said tubular structure comprising crowns and valleys of a helically wound strip, and
- a pattern Of colored markings repeated at regular intervals along the length of the sheath, the pattern leaving exposed portions of the metal sheath on said crowns and leaving open a substantial portion of said outer surface of said crowns,
- wherein said pattern comprises a pattern applied along the length of said strip.
