Claims
- 1. A fiber-reinforced aromatic polyetherketone resin composition comprising:
- (a) 75-55 wt. % of a resin composition comprising: 95-70 wt. % of an aromatic polyetherketone having recurring units represented by the following formula (1): ##STR8## - 30wt. % of a polyetherimide having recurring units represented by the following formula (2): ##STR9## (b) 25-45 wt. % of carbon fibers obtained by coating starting carbon fibers at surfaces thereof with an aromatic polysulfone resin and then heating the thus-coated carbon fibers at 300.degree.-400.degree. C. for 3 to 20 hrs.
- 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the aromatic polyetherketone has a melt flow index in a range of 5-50 g/10 min as measured at 380.degree. C. under a load of 2.16 kg.
- 3. The composition of claim 1, wherein the polyetherimide has a melt flow index in a range of 0.3-5 g/10 min as measured at 320.degree. C. under a load of 2.16 kg.
- 4. The composition of claim 1, wherein the aromatic polysulfone resin is selected from the group consisting of aromatic polysulfone resins having the following recurring units, respectively: ##STR10##
- 5. The composition of claim 1, wherein the carbon fibers have been obtained by coating the starting carbon fibers with 0.1-10 parts by weight of the aromatic polysulfone resin per 100 parts by weight of the starting carbon fibers.
- 6. A mechanical component for an internal combustion engine or auxiliary equipment, said mechanical component being formed of a fiber-reinforced resin composition which comprises:
- (a) 75-55 wt. % of a resin composition comprising: 95-70 wt. % of an aromatic polyetherketone having recurring units represented by the following formula (1): ##STR11## - 30wt. % of a polyetherimide having recurring units represented by the following formula (2): ##STR12## (b) 25-45 wt. % of carbon fibers obtained by coating starting carbon fibers at surfaces thereof with an aromatic polysulfone resin and then heating the thus-coated carbon fibers at 300.degree.-400.degree. C. for 3 to 20 hours.
- 7. The mechanical component of claim 6, wherein the aromatic polyetherketone has a melt flow index in a range of 5-50 g/10 min as measured at 380.degree. C. under a load of 2.16 kg.
- 8. The mechanical component of claim 6, wherein the polyetherimide has a melt flow index in a range of 0.3-5 g/10 min as measured at 320.degree. C. under a load of 2.16 kg.
- 9. The mechanical component of claim 6, wherein the aromatic polysulfone resin is selected from the group consisting of aromatic polysulfone resins having the following recurring units, respectively: ##STR13##
- 10. The mechanical component of claim 6, wherein the carbon fibers have been obtained by coating the starting carbon fibers with 0.1-10 parts by weight of the aromatic polysulfone resin per 100 parts by weight of the starting carbon fibers.
