Claims
- 1. An arrangement for projecting a two-dimensional image onto an eye to be examined for use with a device that determines subjective refraction and/or performs other visual functions, comprising:at least one light source providing source light; at least one light modulator for modulating the source light to produce modulated light; a driving unit for controlling said modulator to modulate the source light in accordance with video information corresponding to a video image; two-dimensional deflecting means for deflecting the modulated light to produce a two-dimensional image; optical transmission means for optically transmitting the light of the light source, said optical transmission means being a light guide; and optical projection means for optically projecting the two-dimensional image onto a retina of an eye to be examined.
- 2. The arrangement according to claim 1, wherein the light source is a laser light source.
- 3. The arrangement according to claim 1, wherein said optical transmission means is a flexible optical conductor that optically conducts light output by the light source.
- 4. The arrangement according to claim 1, wherein said deflecting means is arranged between the light source and the transmission means.
- 5. The arrangement according to claim 1, wherein the transmission means is comprised of image-carrying fiber bundles.
- 6. The arrangement according to claim 1, further comprising variable optics for adjustably modifying optical characteristics of light supplied to the transmission means.
- 7. The arrangement according to claim 1, wherein the deflecting means supplies the produced two-dimensional image to the transmission means.
- 8. The arrangement according to claim 1, wherein the optical projection means projects light to the two-dimensional deflecting means.
- 9. The arrangement according to claim 8, further comprising a reflecting spectacle glass; and wherein the optical projection means is arranged between the reflecting spectacle glass and the eye.
- 10. The arrangement according to claim 1, further comprising variable projection optics for variably adjusting image sharpness of light optically transmitted by the light guide.
- 11. The arrangement of claim 1, further comprising refraction spectacles coupled to said optical projection means.
- 12. A process for utilizing an arrangement according to claim 1, comprising the step of generating an image apparently coming from a distance of approximately 40 cm by adjustment by means of the variable optics and using said two-dimensional image for near vision testing.
- 13. The process according to claim 12, wherein the image is imaged via a flat area of the spectacle glass.
- 14. A process for utilizing an arrangement according to claim 1, comprising the step of directing the image generated by the two-dimensional deflecting means for testing different visual functions one after the other on different areas of a reflector transmitting the image to the eye.
- 15. The process according to claim 14, further comprising the step of vertically displaying said image on different zones of the reflector.
- 16. The process according to claim 14, including the step of tilting by a scanning unit or the light guide end at a spectacle frame.
- 17. A process for utilizing an arrangement according to claim 1, comprising the step of adjusting imaging characteristics of the two-dimensional image.
- 18. The process of claim 17, wherein the adjusting step is carried out in a stepwise manner.
- 19. The process of claim 17, wherein the adjusting step is carried out continuously.
- 20. A process for utilizing an arrangement according to claim 1, comprising the step of electronically adjusting at least one of image sharpness, image contrast, image position, color information and brightness modulation of said two-dimensional image.
- 21. The process for operating an arrangement for binocular eye testing according to claim 20, wherein two-dimensional images are different for both eyes for testing binocular vision and/or a relative position of the two-dimensional image is changed and/or an adjustment of the image position of the images for both eyes is effected for testing stereoscopic vision and/or a fixation area and at least one additional point is generated for visual field testing.
- 22. A method for using the arrangement according to claim 1, comprising steps for performing at least one of the following tests:determining the visual acuity (far, near, monocular, binocular vision) and for driving-related vision tests and for stereopsis examinations and for determining phoria (angular vision deficiency) and for determining color vision and for determining the visual field and for determining sensitivity to glare and for determining dark adaptation and for determining contrast dependence of visual acuity and for determining objective refraction and for determining subjective refraction.
- 23. The combination of the arrangement of claim 1 with a phoroptor.
- 24. An arrangement for projecting an image onto an eye to be examined for use with a device that determines refraction, comprising:at least one IR laser light source providing IR laser light; at least one light modulator for modulating the IR laser light to produce modulated laser light; a driving unit for controlling the modulator to modulate the IR laser light in accordance with video information corresponding to a video image; two-dimensional deflecting means for deflecting the modulated laser light to produce a two-dimensional image; optical transmission means for optically transmitting the light of the laser light source; and optical projection means for optically projecting the two-dimensional image onto a retina of an eye to be examined.
- 25. The arrangement of claim 24, wherein said light source is infrared.
- 26. In an arrangement for use with a device that determines visual functions, said arrangement comprising:means for showing a person to be examined at least one image; an image-generating unit for generating said at least one image; and optical deflecting elements for providing the image generated by said image-generating unit to said means for showing; wherein exchangeable test glasses and/or variable imaging optics through which the video picture is observed are provided in front of the eye; and wherein a unit which is attachable to the head of the observer is provided.
- 27. The arrangement according to claim 26, wherein a spectacle type frame or helmet type frame is provided for holding.
- 28. The arrangement according to claim 26, wherein semitransparent or full mirrors are provided as deflecting mirrors.
- 29. The process for utilizing an arrangement for projecting an image onto an eye to be examined for use with a device that determines refraction, comprising:at least one IR laser light source providing IR laser light; at least one light modulator for modulating the IR laser light to produce modulated laser light; a driving unit for controlling the modulator to modulate the IR laser light in accordance with video information corresponding to a video image; two-dimensional deflecting means for deflecting the modulated laser light to produce a two-dimensional image; optical transmission means for optically transmitting the light of the laser light source; optical projection means for optically projecting the two-dimensional image onto a retina of an eye to be examined; spectacles with glasses that entirely or partially reflect the IR light; and a receiver provided behind the glasses or on the glasses for receiving the IR light, said process comprising: the steps of generating patterns on the retina, receiving by the receiver light reflected from the retina, identifying a change on the pattern caused by the reflection and determining refraction from the identified change.
- 30. An arrangement usable with a device that determines refraction, comprising:means for arranging at least one screen in front of eyes of a person to be examined; a variable or exchangeable optical system arranged between the screen and the eyes adapted to adjust an image displayed on said at least one screen; and means for detecting an adjustment by the variable optical system and for displaying refraction results based on information given by the examined person.
- 31. An arrangement usable for binocular eye testing, comprising, for both eyes:a light source providing source light; at least one light modulator for modulating the source light to produce modulated light; a driving unit for controlling said light modulator to modulate the source light in accordance with video information corresponding to a video image; two-dimensional deflecting means for deflecting the modulated light to produce a two-dimensional image; optical transmission means for optically transmitting the light of the light source; and optical projection means for optically projecting the two-dimensional image onto a retina of a respective eye.
