Claims
- 1. An assembly of comestible items comprising a tray, a retaining means on the tray for mounting the comestible items in predetermined locations relative to each other on the tray, and an electromagnetic energy sensor carried on the tray in a given position relative to the comestible items.
- 2. The assembly set forth in claim 1 in which the retaining means includes means for mounting the comestible items in predetermined spaced positions to control the amount of electromagnetic energy that can be transferred to the sensor.
- 3. The assembly set forth in claim 1 in which each of the comestible items requires a given amount of electromagnetic energy to reach a condition suitable for consumption, and the sensor provides a detectable change of condition when all of the comestible items have received their respective given amounts of energy required to reach the condition suitable for consumption.
- 4. The assembly set forth in claim 3 including means for adjusting the response of the sensor to electromagnetic energy.
- 5. The assembly set forth in claim 1 in which the sensor includes a mass of magnetic material, and control means are provided for selectively shielding said mass.
- 6. The assembly set forth in claim 5 in which the control means includes electrically conductive means movably mounted adjacent the mass of magnetic material.
- 7. The assembly set forth in claim 5 in which the control means includes an electrically conductive segment of a given size adhesively secured to the retaining means adjacent the sensor.
- 8. An assembly for controlling the amount of electromagnetic energy coupled to a load comprising a first member opaque to said energy, a locating member that is substantially transparent to said energy supported in spaced relation to the first member, a load container substantially opaque to said energy and including a portion that is transparent to said energy, and positioning means on said load container and said locating member for supporting said container on said locating member in different positions with the transparent portion of said container spaced different distances from said first member.
- 9. The assembly set forth in claim 8 in which the positioning means includes shouldered portions of different sizes on the load container and openings of different sizes of the locating chamber.
- 10. A tray for use with a microwave oven and adapted to assemble a plurality of comestible items for simultaneous heating therewithin comprising a base member of electrically insulating material and shaped to receive and retain comestible items thereon, and a mass of ferromagnetic material positioned at a predetermined location on said base member and arranged to change from a ferromagnetic to a paramagnetic state when a predetermined quantity of microwave energy has been received thereby.
- 11. The tray construction of claim 10 which includes a member of electrically conductive nonmagnetic material positioned adjacent said ferromagnetic mass, said member acting to partially shield said ferromagnetic mass from microwave energy while permitting said change in state of said mass to be detected through said member.
- 12. A tray for use with a microwave oven and adapted to assemble a plurality of comestible items for simultaneous heating therewithin comprising a base member of electrically insulating material and shaped to receive and retain comestible items thereon, and an energy absorbing sensor positioned at a predetermined location on said base member and arranged to undergo a predetermined change in state when a predetermined quantity of microwave energy is absorbed thereby.
- 13. The tray construction of claim 10, which includes a member of electrically conductive nonmagnetic material positioned adjacent said mass of ferromagnetic material.
- 14. The tray construction of claim 13, which includes electrically nonconductive means for partially enclosing said mass of ferromagnetic material.
- 15. The tray construction of claim 14, wherein said ferromagnetic mass has a cylindrical outer edge portion, and said enclosing means includes a first member having a recess substantially conforming to said outer edge portion and a second member positioned above said mass.
