Abstract
A display organizer includes a front wall, a first side wall, a second side wall opposite of the first side wall, a back wall opposite of the front wall, and a bottom wall. The front wall, first side wall, the second side wall, the back wall, and the bottom wall form an opening and receptacle. The display organizer further includes an openable frame positioned on top of the front wall. The openable frame has a cut out. The cut out allows a portion of the front wall to be visible through the cut out when the openable frame is in a closed position. The display organizer includes a magnet located within the front wall. The openable frame includes a magnetic piece that corresponds to the magnet and is used to secure the openable frame to the front wall in a closed position.
Description
BACKGROUND

Children begin creating at an early age. From scribbles and stick figures to illustrated stories, children generate an enormous amount of creations that parents, grandparents, friends, and other family members would love to both display and save. Various solutions exist that allow creations to be displayed, as simple as a magnet on a fridge to a clothesline that allows multiple creations to be displayed at once. Existing storage solutions include file folders, boxes, etc. What would be beneficial is a solution that allows creations to be displayed while providing an organization and storage solution.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Various disclosed implementations provide a frame for displaying artwork or a creation while also providing a mechanism for storing undisplayed artwork. In various implementations, the frame includes a receptacle for either receiving artwork or for receiving an insert. The insert may be removable and allows the storage and organization of artwork placed Various implementations allow the frame to open to receive a new creation to be displayed. One or more fasten mechanism, such as a magnet, may be used to both close the frame and secure the artwork within the frame.



FIG. 1 is a closed and assembled art frame and organizer 100 in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. The art frame and organizer 100 may also be referred to as a display organizer 100. The display organizer 100 includes a front wall 102, a first side wall 104, second side wall 106 and a back wall 108. The display organizer 100 also includes a bottom wall, not pictured in FIG. 1. The various walls form a receptacle 112 that may be used to store creations or a receive an insert. Artwork may be inserted into the receptacle 112 via an opening in the organizer 100. In other implementations, an opening of the receptacle 112 is located on a side of the display organizer 100 rather than at the top as shown in FIGS. 1.


To display artwork, the organizer 100 includes an openable frame 110. The openable frame 110 is located on top of the front wall 102. The openable frame 110 has a cut out that allows one or more pieces of artwork to be seen through the cut out. The openable frame 110 has a border that surrounds the displayed artwork. To secure the displayed artwork, the openable frame 110 has a closing mechanism such as a magnet and the front wall 102 has a corresponding closing mechanism, such as a magnet or a piece of metal. When closed, the displayed artwork is secured between the frame 110 and the front wall 102. In one embodiment, the cut out of the openable frame 110 is 10.5 inches by 7.5 inches. In one embodiment, the display organizer is 14 inches by 11 inches when assembled. The openable frame 110 may be comprised of cardboard, plastic, etc.



FIG. 2 is an open and assembled art frame and organizer 100 in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. A first magnet 132 and a second magnet 134 may be used to securely close the openable frame 110 to the front wall 102. In other implementations, additional magnets may be used. For example, there may be a magnet located along the bottom of the front wall 102 and horizontally centered. Another magnet at the top of the front wall 102 may also be used for additional security of the display piece.


The display organizer 100 may also include a clear sheet 130 of material, such as polyethylene terephthalate, may be used to protect the displayed creation while allowing the creation to be viewable. The clear sheet 130 extends over the cut out of the openable frame, thereby, providing a mechanism of protection for the displayed artwork. In some embodiments, the clear sheet 130 may be unattached to the openable frame 110. In other embodiments, the clear sheet 130 may be attached to the front wall 102. A notch or opening cut out 140 may be formed in the front wall 102 allowing the openable frame 110 to be more easily opened.



FIG. 3A is a front perspective of an assembled art frame and organizer in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. The openable frame 110 and the clear sheet 130 or shown in the front perspective. The front perspective shows the display organizer in its closed position, with the openable frame 110 secured to the front wall 102, not shown. FIG. 3B is a side perspective of the second side 106 an assembled art frame and organizer in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. Dotted lines 310 shows creases or folds where the openable frame is attached to the side wall 106. The openable frame may be attached to other portions of the display organizer as described below.



FIG. 3C is a back perspective of an assembled art frame and organizer in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. The displayed back perspective includes measurements for one embodiment. Larger or smaller display organizers may be constructed as well. The back wall 108 may have one wall hanging mechanism, such as wall hanging mechanism 304. The wall hanging mechanism 304 may be a cut out, an alligator/sawtooth hanger, wire, etc. In one embodiment, a single wall hanging mechanism 304 may be used. For example, the one wall hanging mechanism 304 would allow the display organizer to be installed vertically only. In other embodiments, additional wall hanging mechanisms, such as 302 and 306 may be used. In these embodiments, the display organizer may be hung vertically or horizontally. In some embodiments, the wall hanging mechanisms 302 and 306 may be vertically centered. FIG. 3D is a top perspective of an assembled art frame and organizer in accordance with an illustrative embodiment.



FIG. 4A is a side perspective of an unassembled art frame and organizer in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. The bottom wall 410 is visible in FIGS. 4A and 4B. FIG. 4B is a front perspective of an unassembled art frame and organizer in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. The bottom wall 410 may include an adhesive 412 used to assemble the display organizer For example, the bottom wall 410 may be secured to either the back wall 108 or the front wall 102 using the adhesive 412. Various adhesives such as, but not limited to, glue, tape, Velcro, etc., could be used. In addition, a magnet 402, corresponding to magnet 134, and a magnet 404, corresponding to magnet 132 are located in the opening frame 110. Each pair of magnets, such as magnet 134 and 402, may include one magnet and then a corresponding metal rather than a second magnet.



FIG. 5 is a clear cover sheet 130 in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. In some embodiments, the clear sheet 130 is installed on the front wall 102. For example, the clear sheet 130 may be installed between the front wall 102 and the opening frame 110. The clear sheet 130 may include an adhesive 502 used to attached the clear sheet to the openable frame 110. Another strip of adhesive, not shown, located on the other side of the clear sheet, may be used to attached the clear sheet to the front wall 102. In other embodiments, the openable frame 110 may be attached to the second side wall 106. The clear sheet 130 may also attach to the display organizer via the second side wall 106. In this embodiment, a larger surface area may be used for a more secure attachment. This embodiment, however, requires that the opening frame 110 and the clear sheet 130 bend when the openable frame 110 is closed. In another embodiment, four page corner attachments may be attached to the openable frame near each of the four corners of the cut out. The four page corners may be located on the side of the openable frame 110 that faces the front wall 102. The four page corner attachments may be used to secure the clear sheet 130 to the openable frame 110. In this embodiment, the clear sheet 130 may be removed and a new clear sheet 130 may be installed.



FIG. 6A is a front perspective of a folding art frame and organizer in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. The display organizer may initially be folded. For example, the display organizer may be shipped and stored in a folded format. To assemble the display organizer, the front, back, and side walls may be manipulated to create the receptacle 112. The bottom wall 410 may include a flap portion that includes some adhesive 412. The flap portion may be folded and secured to the back wall 108 or the front wall 102. Once the bottom wall 410 is secured to either the front wall 102 or the back wall 108, the display organizer is securely assembled. In some embodiments, a top flap may also be included. The top flap may lay flat or use a magnet or Velcro to attach to the back wall 108. FIG. 6B is a back perspective of a folding art frame and organizer in accordance with an illustrative embodiment.


In some embodiments, creations and artwork may be stored directly in the receptacle 112 of the display organizer 100. In other embodiments, an insert may be placed in the receptacle 112. In these embodiments, the creations are stored in the insert. FIG. 7 is an assembled archive box 700 in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. The archive box 700 may be the insert. A top flap 702 may be used to seal the archive box 700 after the archive box 700 is filled with creations. The archive box 700 may include a space to provide details of the stored artwork such as the name, class, grade, year, etc.



FIG. 8A is a front perspective of a folding archive box in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. FIG. 8B is a back perspective of a folding archive box in accordance with an illustrative embodiment. The archive box 700 may initially be flat and folded prior to use. This allows one or more archive boxes to be packaged and shipped together. In addition, one or more unfolded archive boxes may be packaged, stored, or shipped together with an unfolded display organizer. The archive box 700 may include a bottom flap 704 used to secure the bottom to the archive box 700. The bottom flap 704 and top flap 702 may include an adhesive to secure a closed position. Once assembled, the archive box 700 is sized to fit within the receptacle 112 of the display organizer. Once the archive box 700 is filled, the archive box 700 may be removed from the display organizer 100. The archive box 700 may then be sealed using the top flap 702 and stored. In some embodiments, the top flap 702 attaches via an openable mechanism such as Velcro and an adhesive designed to be openable.


While this specification contains many specific implementation details, these should not be construed as limitations on the scope of any inventions or of what may be claimed, but rather as descriptions of features specific to particular implementations of particular inventions. Certain features described in this specification in the context of separate implementations can also be implemented in combination in a single implementation. Conversely, various features described in the context of a single implementation can also be implemented in multiple implementations separately or in any suitable subcombination. Moreover, although features may be described above as acting in certain combinations and even initially claimed as such, one or more features from a claimed combination can in some cases be excised from the combination, and the claimed combination may be directed to a subcombination or variation of a subcombination.

Claims
  • 1. A display organizer comprising: a receptacle having a storage space defined by a front wall, a back wall opposite the front wall, a first side wall extending between the front and back walls, a second side wall extending between the front and back walls, a bottomside wall extending between the front and back walls, and an opening into the storage space;an openable frame positioned over the front wall, the openable frame comprising a cut out therethrough and being adapted for selective opening and closing for selective insertion and removal of a display medium in a display space between the openable frame and the front wall; andat least one closing mechanism adapted to selectively secure the openable frame to the front wall in a closed position,wherein the openable frame and front wall are adapted such that: when the openable frame is in the closed position with a display medium inserted in the display space, such display medium is visible through the cut out; and when the openable frame is in the closed position without a display medium inserted in the display space, at least a portion of the front wall is visible through the cut out with the front wall obstructing visibility of contents in the storage space of the receptacle.
  • 2. The display organizer of claim 1, further comprising a clear sheet that covers the cut out of the openable frame.
  • 3. The display organizer of claim 2, wherein the clear sheet is attached to the front wall.
  • 4. The display organizer of claim 3, wherein the openable frame is attached to the front wall, and wherein a portion of the clear sheet is located between the openable frame and the front wall.

  • 13. The display organizer of claim 1, wherein the back wall has a first wall hanging mechanism located along a central axis of the back wall.
  • 14. The display organizer of claim 13, wherein the back wall has a second wall hanging mechanism and a third wall hanging mechanism, the second and third wall hanging mechanisms being located along a common central axis of the back wall.
  • 15. The display organizer of claim 1, wherein the bottomside wall comprises a flap, the flap comprising an adhesive for securing the flap to the back wall.
  • 16. The display organizer of claim 1, wherein the openable frame is attached to the front wall.
  • 17. The display organizer of claim 1, wherein the openable frame is attached to the first side wall.
  • 18. The display organizer of claim 1, wherein the front wall includes an opening cut out located along an edge of the front wall opposite of an edge where the openable frame attaches to the front wall.
  • 19. The display organizer of claim 1, wherein the cut out of the openable frame is 10.5 inches by 7.5 inches.
  • 20. The display organizer of claim 1, wherein the display organizer is 14 inches by 11 inches.
