Claims
- 1. A disposable dish made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the disposable dish comprises a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough, wherein the sheet of material is a polymer film which normally is flexible and substantially non-shape-sustaining, wherein the formed disposable dish is flexible and may be substantially flattened and unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed disposable dish without substantial loss of the preformed shape thereby providing the flexible yet shape-sustaining nature of the formed disposable dish, wherein the forming of the sheet of material is accomplished by substantially permanently fixing a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the disposable dish and for cooperating to retain the disposable dish in the formed shape, and wherein the disposable dish is selected from the group consisting of a plate, a saucer, a cup, and a bowl.
- 2. The disposable dish of claim 1 wherein a substantial portion of the folds extend over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles.
- 3. The disposable dish of claim 1 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base.
- 4. The disposable dish of claim 3 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 5. The disposable dish of claim 1 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 6. The disposable dish of claim 1 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 7. The disposable dish of claim 1 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a bonding means disposed upon at least a portion thereof.
- 8. A disposable dish made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the disposable dish comprises
- a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough,
- wherein the sheet of material forming the disposable dish is flexible,
- wherein the formed disposable dish is flexible and the disposable dish is capable of being substantially flattened and unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed disposable dish without substantial loss of the preformed shape, thereby providing the flexible yet shape sustaining nature of the formed disposable dish,
- wherein the forming of the disposable dish is accomplished by forming a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the disposable dish, said folds cooperating to retain the disposable dish in the formed shape.
- 9. The disposable dish of claim 8 wherein a substantial portion of the folds extend over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles.
- 10. The disposable dish of claim 8 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base.
- 11. The disposable dish of claim 10 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 12. The disposable dish of claim 8 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 13. The disposable dish of claim 8 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 14. The disposable dish of claim 8 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a bonding means disposed upon at least a portion thereof.
- 15. The disposable dish of claim 8 wherein the disposable dish is formed from a sheet of material selected from the group consisting of polymer film, foil, and combinations thereof.
- 16. The disposable dish of claim 8 wherein the disposable dish is selected from the group consisting of a plate, a saucer, a cup, and a bowl.
- 17. An article, comprising:
- a disposable dish made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the disposable dish comprises
- a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end. with an object opening extending therethrough,
- wherein folds are formed in the sheet of material whereby the formed disposable dish is flexible and may be substantially flattened and then unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed disposable dish without substantial loss of the preformed shape thereby providing the flexible yet shape-sustaining nature of the formed disposable dish,
- wherein the forming of the disposable dish is accomplished by forming a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of thee disposable dish, said folds cooperating to retain the disposable dish in both the flexible and formed shape,
- wherein the base is able to stand upright on the closed lower end thereof.
- 18. The disposable dish of claim 17 wherein a substantial portion of the folds extend over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles.
- 19. The disposable dish of claim 17 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base.
- 20. The disposable dish of claim 19 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 21. The disposable dish of claim 17 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 22. The disposable dish of claim 17 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 23. The disposable dish of claim 17 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a bonding means disposed upon at least a portion thereof.
- 24. The disposable dish of claim 17 wherein the disposable dish is formed from a sheet of material selected from the group consisting of polymer film, foil, and combinations thereof.
- 25. The disposable dish of claim 17 wherein the disposable dish is selected from the group consisting of a plate, a saucer, a cup, and a bowl.
- 26. An article, comprising:
- a disposable dish made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the disposable dish comprises
- a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough,
- wherein folds are formed in the sheet of material, a substantial portion of the folds extending over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles, whereby the formed disposable dish is flexible and may be substantially flattened and then unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed disposable dish without substantial loss of the preformed shape thereby providing the flexible yet shape-sustaining nature of the formed disposable dish,
- wherein the forming of the disposable dish is accomplished by forming a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the disposable dish, said folds cooperating to retain the disposable dish in both the flexible and formed shape,
- wherein the base is able to stand upright on the closed lower end thereof.
- 27. The disposable dish of claim 26 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base.
- 28. The disposable dish of claim 27 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 29. The disposable dish of claim 26 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 30. The disposable dish of claim 26 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 31. The disposable dish of claim 26 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a bonding means disposed upon at least a portion thereof.
- 32. The disposable dish of claim 26 wherein the disposable dish is formed from a sheet of material selected from the group consisting of polymer film, foil, and combinations thereof.
- 33. The disposable dish of claim 26 wherein the disposable dish is selected from the group consisting of a plate, a saucer, a cup, and a bowl.
- 34. An article, comprising:
- a disposable dish made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the disposable dish comprises
- a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough, a bonding means disposed on at least a portion of the disposable dish,
- wherein folds are formed in the sheet of material whereby the formed disposable dish is flexible and may be substantially flattened and then unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed disposable dish without substantial loss of the preformed shape thereby providing the flexible yet shape-sustaining nature of the formed disposable dish,
- wherein the forming of the disposable dish is accomplished by forming a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the disposable dish, said folds cooperating to retain the disposable dish in both the flexible and formed shape,
- wherein the base is able to stand upright on the closed lower end thereof.
- 35. The disposable dish of claim 34 wherein a substantial portion of the folds extend over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles.
- 36. The disposable dish of claim 34 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base.
- 37. The disposable dish of claim 36 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 38. The disposable dish of claim 34 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 39. The disposable dish of claim 34 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 40. The disposable dish of claim 34 wherein the bonding means comprises an adhesive.
- 41. The disposable dish of claim 34 wherein the disposable dish is formed from a sheet of material selected from the group consisting of polymer film, foil, and combinations thereof.
- 42. The disposable dish of claim 34 wherein the disposable dish is selected from the group consisting of a plate, a saucer, a cup, and a bowl.
- 43. The disposable dish of claim 34 wherein the bonding means comprises a lacquer.
- 44. An article, comprising:
- a disposable dish made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the disposable dish comprises
- a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough, the base comprising a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base,
- wherein folds are formed in the sheet of material whereby the formed disposable dish: is flexible and may be substantially flattened and then unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed disposable dish without substantial loss of the preformed shape thereby providing the flexible yet shape-sustaining nature of the formed disposable dish,
- wherein the forming of the disposable dish is accomplished by forming a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the disposable dish, said folds cooperating to retain the disposable dish in both the flexible and formed shape,
- wherein the base is able to stand upright on the closed lower end thereof.
- 45. The disposable dish of claim 44 wherein a substantial portion of the folds extend over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles.
- 46. The disposable dish of claim 44 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 47. The disposable dish of claim 44 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 48. The disposable dish of claim 44 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 49. The disposable dish of claim 44 wherein the disposable dish further comprises a bonding means disposed upon at least a portion thereof.
- 50. The disposable dish of claim 44 wherein the disposable dish is formed from a sheet of material selected from the group consisting of polymer film, foil, and combinations thereof.
- 51. The disposable dish of claim 44 wherein the disposable dish is selected from the group consisting of a plate, a saucer, a cup, and a bowl.
