Claims
- 1. A pan made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the pan comprises a shallow base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough, wherein the sheet of material is a polymer film which normally is flexible and substantially non-shape-sustaining, wherein the formed pan is flexible and maybe substantially flattened and unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed pan without substantial loss of the preformed shape thereby providing the flexible yet shape-sustaining nature of the formed pan, wherein the forming of the sheet of material is accomplished by substantially permanently fixing a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the pan and for cooperating to retain the pan in the formed shape.
- 2. The pan of claim 1 wherein a substantial portion of the folds extend over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles.
- 3. The pan of claim 1 wherein the pan further comprises a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base.
- 4. The pan of claim 3 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 5. The pan of claim 1 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 6. The pan of claim 1 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 7. The pan of claim 1 wherein the pan further comprises a bonding means disposed upon at least a portion thereof.
- 8. A pan made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the pan comprises
- a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough,
- wherein the sheet of material forming the pan is flexible,
- wherein the formed pan is flexible and the pan is capable of being substantially flattened and unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed pan without substantial loss of the preformed shape, thereby providing the flexible yet shape sustaining nature of the formed pan,
- wherein the forming of the pan is accomplished by forming a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the pan, said folds cooperating to retain the pan in the formed shape.
- 9. The pan of claim 8 wherein a substantial portion of the folds extend over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles.
- 10. The pan of claim 8 wherein the pan further comprises a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base.
- 11. The pan of claim 10 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 12. The pan of claim 8 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 13. The pan of claim 8 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 14. The pan of claim 8 wherein the pan further comprises a bonding means disposed upon at least a portion thereof.
- 15. The pan of claim 8 wherein the pan is formed from a sheet of material selected from the group consisting of polymer film, foil, and combinations thereof.
- 16. The pan of claim 8 wherein the sheet or material used to form the pan is a relatively thin polymer film which is flexible and substantially non-shape sustaining.
- 17. An article, comprising:
- a pan made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the pan comprises
- a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough,
- wherein folds are formed in the sheet of material whereby the formed pan is flexible and may be substantially flattened and then unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed pan without substantial loss of the preformed shape thereby providing the flexible yet shape-sustaining nature of the formed pan,
- wherein the forming of the pan is accomplished by forming a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the pan, said folds cooperating to retain the pan in both the flexible and formed shape,
- wherein the base is able to stand upright on the closed lower end thereof.
- 18. The pan of claim 17 wherein a substantial portion of the folds extend over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles.
- 19. The pan of claim 17 wherein the pan further comprises a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base.
- 20. The pan of claim 19 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 21. The pan of claim 17 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 22. The pan of claim 17 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 23. The pan of claim 17 wherein the pan further comprises a bonding means disposed upon at least a portion thereof.
- 24. The pan of claim 17 wherein the pan is formed from a sheet of material selected from the group consisting of polymer film, foil, and combinations thereof.
- 25. The pan of claim 17 wherein the sheet or material used to form the pan is a relatively thin polymer film which is flexible and substantially non-shape sustaining.
- 26. An article, comprising:
- a pan made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the pan comprises
- a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough,
- wherein folds are formed in the sheet of material, a substantial portion of the folds extending over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles, whereby the formed pan is flexible and may be substantially flattened and then unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed pan without substantial loss of the preformed shape thereby providing the flexible yet shape-sustaining nature of the formed pan,
- wherein the forming of the pan is accomplished by forming a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the pan, said folds cooperating to retain the pan in both the flexible and formed shape,
- wherein the base is able to stand upright on the closed lower end thereof.
- 27. The pan of claim 26 wherein the pan further comprises a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base.
- 28. The pan of claim 27 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 29. The pan of claim 26 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 30. The pan of claim 26 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 31. The pan of claim 26 wherein the pan further comprises a bonding means disposed upon at least a portion thereof.
- 32. The pan of claim 26 wherein the pan is formed from a sheet of material selected from the group consisting of polymer film, foil, and combinations thereof.
- 33. The pan of claim 26 wherein the sheet or material used to form the pan is a relatively thin polymer film which is flexible and substantially non-shape sustaining.
- 34. An article, comprising:
- a pan made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the pan comprises
- a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough, a bonding means disposed on at least a portion of the pan,
- wherein folds are formed in the sheet of material whereby the formed pan is flexible and may be substantially flattened and then unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed pan without substantial loss of the preformed shape thereby providing the flexible yet shape-sustaining nature of the formed pan,
- wherein the forming of the pan is accomplished by forming a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the pan, said folds cooperating to retain the pan in both the flexible and formed shape,
- wherein the base is able to stand upright on the closed lower end thereof.
- 35. The pan of claim 34 wherein a substantial portion of the folds extend over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles.
- 36. The pan of claim 34 wherein the pan further comprises a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base.
- 37. The pan of claim 36 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 38. The pan of claim 34 wherein the pan further comprises sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 39. The pan of claim 34 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 40. The pan of claim 34 wherein the bonding means comprises an adhesive.
- 41. The pan of claim 34 wherein the pan is formed from a sheet of material selected from the group consisting of polymer film, foil, and combinations thereof.
- 42. The pan of claim 34 wherein the sheet or material used to form the pan is a relatively thin polymer film which is flexible and substantially non-shape sustaining.
- 43. The pan of claim 34 wherein the bonding means comprises a lacquer.
- 44. An article, comprising:
- a pan made by forming at least one sheet of material into a predetermined shape for receiving an object, wherein the pan comprises
- a base having a closed lower end and an open upper end with an object opening extending therethrough, the base comprising a decorative border extending outward from the open upper end of the base,
- wherein folds are formed in the sheet of material whereby the formed pan is flexible and may be substantially flattened and then unflattened to assume the original shape of the formed pan without substantial loss of the preformed shape thereby providing the flexible yet shape-sustaining nature of the formed pan,
- wherein the forming of the pan is accomplished by forming a portion of the sheet of material into a plurality of folds to form the base of the pan, said folds cooperating to retain the pan in both the flexible and formed shape,
- wherein the base is able to stand upright on the closed lower end thereof.
- 45. The pan of claim 44 wherein a substantial portion of the folds extend over different distances and at various and arbitrary angles.
- 46. The pan of claim 44 wherein the decorative border is substantially free of folds.
- 47. The pan of claim 44 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 3.0 mils.
- 48. The pan of claim 44 wherein the pan further comprises a sheet of material having a thickness of less than about 1.5 mils.
- 49. The pan of claim 44 wherein the pan further comprises a bonding means disposed upon at least a portion thereof.
- 50. The pan of claim 44 wherein the pan is formed from a sheet of material selected from the group consisting of polymer film, foil, and combinations thereof.
- 51. The pan of claim 44 wherein the sheet or material used to form the pan is a relatively thin polymer film which is flexible and substantially non-shape sustaining.
