The articulated window panel of claim 2 wherein said hinge has at least one projection for spacing said first flange portion of said hinge from said opaque coating, said adhesive between said opaque coating and said first flange portion of said hinge having a thickness defined by said projection.
- 10. The articulated window panel of claim 1 wherein said adhesive is a moisture activated adhesive.
- 11. The articulated window panel of claim 1 wherein said adhesive is a thermally activated adhesive.
- 12. The articulated window panel of claim 1 wherein said adhesive is a chemically activated adhesive.
- 13. The articulated window panel of claim 1 wherein said hinge is formed from one of a metal, plastic and composite material.
- 14. The articulated window panel of claim 1 wherein said first flange portion of said hinge includes at least one perforation therethrough for access to said adhesive and for providing a mechanical bonding surface for said adhesive.
- 15. The articulated window panel of claim 14 wherein said hinge is formed from one of metal, plastic and composite material.
- 16. The articulated window panel of claim 1 wherein said hinge mounting area is no greater than about 1.6% of said outer surface area of said sheet.
- 17. The articulated window panel of claim 1 wherein said first flange portion of said hinge has a bonding area of at least two square inches.
- 18. The articulated window panel of claim 17 wherein said first flange portion of said hinge has an aspect ratio of at least one.
- 19. The articulated window assembly of claim 18 including a substantially opaque coating on a predetermined portion of said inner area with said latch mount base bonded to said opaque coating; said adhesive positioned between said opaque coating and said latch mount base, whereby said latch mount base, when bonded to said latch mounting area, is substantially hidden from view from said outer surface of said glass sheet by said opaque coating.
- 20. The articulated window assembly of claim 19 including a substantially opaque coating on said latching mounting area with said latch mount base bonded to said opaque coating; said adhesive positioned between said opaque coating and said latch mount base, whereby said latch mount base, when bonded to said latch mounting area, is substantially hidden from view from said outer surface of said glass sheet by said opaque coating.
- 21. The hinged window assembly of claim 19 further including an adhesion-promoting compound between said opaque coating and said adhesive bonding said latch mount base to said glass sheet.
- 22. The hinged window assembly of claim 21 wherein said adhesive is a moisture activated adhesive.
- 23. The hinged window assembly of claim 21 wherein said adhesive is a thermally activated adhesive.
- 24. The hinged window assembly of claim 21 wherein said adhesive is a chemically activated adhesive.
- 25. The hinged window assembly of claim 21 wherein said adhesive comprises an activated adhesive.
- 26. An articulated window panel suitable for securement in a window opening of a vehicle by at least one hinge and a latch, said panel comprising:
