Claims
- 1. An artifact detector, comprising:
- a biomedical signal wave detecting sensor;
- means for converting a sensed biomedical signal wave into multiple pulses;
- duration measuring means responsive to the pulses provided by said converting means for measuring values of the multiple pulse durations of the biomedical signal wave;
- averaging means for fetching and averaging the values of the multiple pulse durations to provide an average value; and
- means for comparing each of the measured duration values provided by said duration measuring means with the average value provided by said averaging means for detecting generation of an artifact in accordance with a ratio of the compared values.
- 2. The artifact detector according to claim 1, wherein said comparing means comprises:
- subtracting means for subtracting the average value from the pulse duration value provided by said duration measuring means, to output a subtracted value, and
- second comparing means for comparing said subtracted value with a threshold value, said second comparing means outputting a signal, based on a result of the compared subtracted value and the threshold value to determine whether or not an artifact is generated.
- 3. The artifact detector according to claim 2, wherein the threshold value is a ratio of the average value of the multiple pulse durations to the number of measured multiple pulse durations, and said second comparing means outputs a signal indicative of absence of an artifact at times when the subtracted value is less than the threshold value.
- 4. An artifact detector, comprising:
- a biomedical signal detecting sensor for detecting an R wave of an electrocardiogram and peaks of a pulse wave;
- means responsive to either the R wave of the electrocardiogram or each peak of the pulse wave for generating identification pulses;
- duration measuring means responsive to the generated identification pulses for measuring pulse duration to output a pulse duration signal representing the measured value;
- averaging means responsive to multiple pulse duration signals from said duration measuring means for averaging the multiple pulse durations to provide an average value;
- subtracting means for performing subtraction between the duration signal and the average signal to output a difference signal;
- threshold setting means responsive to the difference signal for generating a threshold signal having a value;
- comparing means responsive to the threshold signal and the difference signal for generating a comparison result signal; and
- output determining means responsive to the identification pulse and the comparison result signal for outputting the identification pulse at times when the comparison result signal does not represent an artifact.
