Claims
- 1. A prosthesis used for replacing at least one of a damaged bone, an articular cartilage and an intervertebral disc, the prosthesis comprising:
- polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel and a porous body, the porous body comprising at least one of a ceramic material and a metallic material, wherein
- the hydrogel is carried into the porous body via infiltration and fixation, thereby forming a resulting porous body having a shape corresponding to the at least one of a damaged bone, an articular cartilage and an intervertebral disc it replaces, and wherein
- the resulting porous body is positioned at and brought into contact with articular bone portions so that bone tissue is allowed to grow into and ossify within the resulting porous body to connect the hydrogel to bone portions of a living body.
- 2. The prosthesis of claim 1, comprising:
- a pair of porous bodies, the pair of porous bodies comprising at least one of a pair of metallic bodies and a pair of ceramic bodies, and
- a polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel block integrally incorporated between the pair of porous bodies.
- 3. The prosthesis of claim 2, wherein the polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel is carried by the porous body contacting the hydrogel block via infiltration and fixation.
