Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula: ##STR11## wherein Ar is an a+1 valent radical derived by removal of a+1 nuclear hydrogens from a substituted or unsubstituted aryl moiety either carbocyclic or heterocyclic and having 1 or 2 aromatic rings; R is a hydrocarbon, oxahydrocarbon, or thiahydrocarbon radical; a is 1 or 2; n is about 4 to about k.times.10.sup.3 wherein k is 1 to about 10 and x is from 1.8 to about 4; and Z is ##STR12## and R' is a polyvalent aliphatic, aromatic or aliphatic aromatic radical or when taken together with the ##STR13## and NCO moieties is the residue of an isocyanate terminated polyurethane prepolymer.
- 2. A compound of the formula: ##STR14## wherein Ar; R; R'; n and x are as defined in claim 5 and m is about 4 to about k.times.10.sup.3 wherein k is about 1 to 10.
- 3. A process for the preparation of a compound of the formula: ##STR15## wherein Z is ##STR16## R' is a polyvalent aliphatic, aromatic or aliphatic aromatic radical or when taken together with the ##STR17## and --NCO moieties is the residue of an isocyanate terminated polyurethane prepolymer; Ar is an a+1 valent radical derived by removal of a+1 nuclear hydrogens from a substituted or unsubstituted aryl moiety either carbocyclic or heterocyclic and having 1 or 2 aromatic rings; R is a hydrocarbon, oxahydrocarbon, or thiahydrocarbon radical; a is 1 or 2; n is about 4 to about k.times.10.sup.3 wherein k is 1 to about 10, and x is from 1.8 to about 4; which comprises treating a compound having the formula
- (H.sub.2 N).sub.a --Ar--S.sub.x --(R--S.sub.x).sub.n R--Y
- wherein Y is --SH or --S.sub.x --Ar--(NH.sub.2).sub.a and Ar, R, a, n and x are as previously defined, with a compound of the formula:
- OCN--R'--NCO
- wherein R' is as previously defined.
- 4. A process for the preparation of a compound of the formula: ##STR18## wherein Ar is an a+1 valent radical derived by removal of a+1 nuclear hydrogens from a substituted or unsubstituted aryl moiety either carbocyclic or heterocyclic and having 1 or 2 aromatic rings; R is a hydrocarbon, oxahydrocarbon, or thiahydrocarbon radical; a is 1 or 2; n is about 4 to about k.times.10.sup.3 wherein k is 1 to about 10 and x is from 1.8 to about 4; R' is a polyvalent aliphatic, aromatic or aliphatic aromatic radical or when taken together with the ##STR19## and NCO moieties is the residue of an isocyanate terminated polyurethane prepolymer and m is about 4 to about k.times.10.sup.3 wherein k is 1 to about 10 which comprises treating a compound of the formula:
- (H.sub.2 N).sub.a --Ar--S.sub.x --R--S.sub.x).sub.n R--Y
- wherein Ar; R; a; n; and x are as defined above; and Y is SH with an approximate stoichiometric equivalent to the amine functionality of a compound of the formula:
- OCN--R'--NCO.
- 5. A process for the preparation of a compound of the formula: ##STR20## wherein Z is ##STR21## R' is a polyvalent aliphatic, aromatic or aliphatic aromatic radical or when taken together with the ##STR22## and --NCO moieties is the residue of an isocyanate terminated polyurethane prepolymer; Ar; R; a; n and x are as defined below which comprises treating a compound of the formula:
- (H.sub.2 N).sub.a --Ar--S.sub.x --R--S.sub.x).sub.n R--Y
- wherein Y is --SH or --S.sub.x --Ar--(NH.sub.2).sub.a ; Ar is an a+1 valent radical derived by removal of a+1 nuclear hydrogens from a substituted or unsubstituted aryl moiety either carbocyclic or heterocyclic and having 1 of 2 aromatic rings; R is a hydrocarbon, oxahydrocarbon, or thiahydrocarbon radical; a is 1 or 2; n is about 4 to about k.times.10.sup.3 wherein k is 1 to about 10 and x is from 1.8 to about 4, with a compound of the formula:
- OCN--R'--NCO.
