Claims
- 1. An improved asphalt composition comprising:asphalt cement; coated mesophase pitch carbon fibers.
- 2. An improved asphalt composition according to claim 1 wherein the asphalt composition comprises mesophase pitch carbon fibers having lengths of less than about 10 mm, and which comprise a wax or waxy coating upon said fibers.
- 3. An asphalt paving composition which comprises:asphalt cement; coated mesophase pitch carbon fibers; and, aggregate.
- 4. A method for providing a paved roadway which comprises the steps of:laying an asphalt paving composition which comprises asphalt cement, coated mesophase pitch carbon fibers, and aggregate on a surface.
- 5. A method for repairing a paved surface which comprises the steps of:providing an asphalt composition which comprises asphalt cement, and coated mesophase pitch carbon fibers to a defect in a paved surface.
