Description
TECHNICAL FIELD

The present disclosure relates to an assembly comprising a container and a lid intended to close a container.

BACKGROUND

Lids intended to close containers are known from the prior art. The lids generally comprise a covering part configured to cover an opening of the container when the lid is mounted on the container and a fastening part configured to allow the lid to be fastened to the container when the lid is mounted on the container.

For example, the fastening part may comprise a U-shaped skirt extending over the periphery of the covering part, the skirt including a first wall proximal to the covering part, a second wall distal to the covering part and a third wall which connects the first wall and the second wall so as to form a housing intended to receive a complementary fastening part of the container, the connecting wall forming the bottom of the housing.

To avoid as much as possible the risk of leakage of product contained in the container when the container is closed by the lid, the fastening of the lid on the container is sealed.

As such, it is known to have a seal in the fastening part of the lid.

The seal is generally arranged at the bottom of the housing, that is to say it extends over the entirety of the third wall which connects the first wall and the second wall.

When mounting the lid on the container, the complementary fastening part of the container is engaged in the remaining space of the housing in which the seal is disposed.

The complementary fastening part of the container then comes into contact with the seal arranged in the bottom of the housing.

The seal is placed between the bottom of the housing (formed by the third wall) and the complementary fastening part of the container.

A compressive force must be applied to the lid in order to close the lid on the container.

A drawback of the lids of the prior art is that it is necessary to apply a significant or even excessive compressive force on the lid to be able to compress the seal and thus succeed in closing the fastening part of the lid on the complementary fastening part of the container.

The arrangement of the seal which is located between the bottom of the housing of the lid fastening device and the complementary container fastening device can be an obstacle to simple and rapid closure for a user.

Document WO 2021/159288 describes a lid intended to close a cup configured to contain a few centiliters of tea or coffee for example.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Other characteristics and advantages of the present disclosure will appear on reading the non-limiting description which follows and the appended figures which schematically illustrate several embodiments of the lid according to the present disclosure and of the assembly comprising the lid and a container according to the present disclosure.

In the description which follows and in the claims, identical, similar or analogous components will be designated by the same reference numerals in order to facilitate the description.

FIG. 1 illustrates an assembly 1 comprising a lid 2 mounted on a container 4 according to the present disclosure.

The lid 2 comprises a covering part 6 configured to cover an opening 8 of the container 4 (FIG. 3) and a fastening part 10 configured to allow the lid 2 to be fastened on the container 4.

The fastening part 10 extends over the periphery of the covering part 6.

In the present disclosure, the covering part 6 is arranged below the fastening part 10 (FIG. 3).

The fastening part 10 thus forms a rim around the covering part 6.

This makes it possible to stack a plurality of containers 1′ closed by lids according to the present disclosure on top of each other in a compact manner (FIG. 3).

In the present disclosure, the covering part 6 and the fastening part 10 are in one piece.

As illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 6, the fastening part 10 of the lid 2 according to the present disclosure comprises a U-shaped skirt 12 which extends over the periphery of the covering part 6.

The peripheral skirt 12 includes a first wall 14 proximal to the covering part 6, a second wall 16 distal to the covering part 6 and a third wall 18 which connects the first wall 14 and the second wall 16.

According to the present disclosure, the first wall 14, the second wall 16 and the third wall 18 are formed in one piece.

The first wall 14, proximal to the covering part 6, can extend, for example in its entirety, parallel to the axis «X» passing through the center of the lid 2 (FIGS. 9 and 10). By the axis «X» passing through the center of the lid 2, is meant the axis of revolution of the lid 2.

For example, the first wall 14 extends vertically, for example in its entirety, with reference to FIGS. 2 to 9 and 12, which illustrate the first wall 14 when the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4 and the container 4 is placed, for example vertically on a floor.

For example, the first wall 14 extends so as to form a part of the lid 2 of cylindrical shape (FIG. 10).

The first wall 14, the second wall 16 and the third wall 18 are arranged so as to form the U-shaped peripheral skirt 12.

It is understood that the first wall 14 and the second wall 16 are lateral walls arranged facing each other and that the third wall 18 which has two substantially curved end portions is intended to connect the first lateral wall 14 and the second lateral wall 16.

The first wall 14, the second wall 16 and the third wall 18 thus form a housing 20 intended to receive a complementary fastening part 22 of the container 4.

The third wall 18 forms a bottom of the housing (FIGS. 3 to 6).

According to the present disclosure, the housing 20 comprises a first zone 20′ extending between the first wall 14 and the middle of the third wall 18 and a second zone 20″ extending between the middle of the third wall 18 and the second wall 16.

It is understood that the first zone 20′ is defined between the first wall 14 and the middle of the third wall 18 and that the second zone 20″ is defined between the middle of the third wall 18 and the second wall 16.

In other words, the housing comprises two zones delimited from one another by the middle of the third wall. It is then understood that the U-shaped peripheral skirt is divided into two parts substantially symmetrical with respect to each other so as to form a housing comprising two zones.

According to the present disclosure, the lid 2 comprises a seal 24.

The seal 24 is arranged in at least a portion of the first zone 20′ of the housing 20 only.

It is understood that the seal extends over all or part of the first zone only. The seal is arranged in the first zone of the housing only.

The seal 24 can be a seal which extends over the periphery of the lid 2.

In the present disclosure, the lid is circular. The seal is a peripheral annular seal.

The present disclosure is not limited to a circular lid and any type of lid can be used: square, rectangular, etc.

According to an embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 6, the seal 24 extends over at least part of the first wall 14 and over half of the third wall 18.

For example, the seal 24 extends over only part of the first wall 14.

According to the present disclosure, the seal 24 extends parallel to the first wall 14. It is then understood that the seal 24 extends vertically relative to the bottom of the housing 18 defined by the third wall.

According to the present disclosure, the seal 24 comprises a substantially flat external surface 240 (FIG. 4).

For example, the seal 24 has a rectangular cross-section.

According to one embodiment, the seal 24 comprises a first end 24′ arranged facing the third wall 18 and a second end 24″ opposite the first end 24′, the second end 24″ comprising a rounded surface configured to guide the complementary fastening part 22 of the container 4 in the second zone 20″ of the housing 20 when the lid is mounted on the container (FIG. 4).

According to one embodiment, the first end 24′ of the seal 24 is curved so as to be adapted to the shape of the bottom of the housing 18 of the lid 2 when the seal extends over the half of the third wall. This allows the seal to be fitted optimally in the housing of the lid.

According to an embodiment illustrated in FIG. 2, the third wall 18 can comprise a rib 26 arranged in the middle of the third wall, that is to say in the middle of the bottom of the housing, the rib 26 is extending into the housing 20. The rib 26 makes it possible to further delimit the first zone 20′ and the second zone 20″ and to maintain the seal 24 in the first zone 20′ of the housing 20.

According to the present disclosure, the lid 2 comprises a plastic material and the seal 24 comprises an elastomeric material.

It is understood that the lid comprises a hard material and that the seal comprises a flexible material.

For example, the plastic material of the lid 2 is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene. The present disclosure is not limited to these types of plastic materials. Other plastic materials can be used.

According to the present disclosure, the seal 24 is overmolded with the lid 2.

FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of the assembly 1 comprising the lid 2 and the container 4 illustrated in FIG. 1.

As illustrated in FIG. 3, the assembly 1 comprises the lid as previously described and the container 4. The container 4 comprises a body 28, the body 28 of the container comprising a closed lower end 30 (FIG. 1) and an upper end portion 32 comprising the opening 8, and the fastening part 22 complementary to the fastening part 10 of the lid 2.

According to the present disclosure, the complementary fastening part 22 is intended to be engaged in at least one free part of the housing 20 of the fastening part 10 of the lid 2.

By free part of the housing is meant the part of the housing delimited by the seal and the second wall distal to the covering part. According to an embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 3 to 6, the complementary fastening part 22 comprises a first portion 22′, one end of which is intended to come into direct contact with one half of the bottom of the housing in the second zone 20″, that is to say half of the third wall. For example, the first portion 22′ can be a peripheral wall.

According to the present disclosure, the complementary fastening part 22 may comprise a second portion 22″. The second portion 22″ can for example be a U-shaped peripheral skirt from which the first portion extends.

For example, the skirt 260 is an annular skirt. For example, the skirt 260 has an inverted U shape.

The skirt 260 (FIG. 9) may comprise a first wall 262 proximal to a central part of the container, for example proximal to the axis «X′» passing through the center of the container (FIG. 11), a second wall 264 distal to a central part of the container, for example distal to the axis «X′» passing through the center of the container, and a third wall 266 which connects the first wall 262 and the second wall 264.

As illustrated in FIG. 9, the peripheral wall 270 forming the first portion 22′ of the complementary fastening part 22 can extend from the third wall 266 of the skirt 260 forming the second portion 22″ of the complementary fastening part 22. The peripheral wall 270 extends for example perpendicular to the third wall 266 of the skirt 260.

The first wall 262, the second wall 264 and the third wall 266 are arranged so as to form the U-shaped annular skirt 260 of the container 4.

It is understood that the first wall 262 and the second wall 264 are lateral walls arranged facing each other and that the third wall 266, which has for example two substantially curved end portions, is intended to connect the first lateral wall 262 and the second lateral wall 264.

According to the present disclosure, the first wall 262, the second wall 264 and the third wall 266 are formed in one piece.

The first wall 262 can extend, for example in its entirety, parallel to the axis «X′» passing through the center of the container 4 (FIGS. 9 and 11). By the axis «X′» passing through the center of the container 4, is meant the axis of revolution of the container 4.

For example, the first wall 262 extends, for example in its entirety, vertically with reference to FIGS. 3 to 9 and 12 which illustrate the first wall 262 when the container is placed, for example vertically on a floor.

As illustrated in FIG. 12, the axis of revolution «X» of the lid 2 and the axis of revolution «X′» of the container 4 coincide when the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4.

The second portion of the complementary fastening part of the container comprises an end 222 intended to be engaged against the rounded end 24″ of the seal 24 of the lid. The rounded end 24″ of the seal 24 makes it possible to stabilize the fastening of the complementary fastening part 22 of the container 4 in the housing 20 of the lid. The end of the second portion comprises a shape complementary to the rounded end of the seal.

For example, the end 222 intended to be engaged against the rounded end 24″ of the seal 24 of the lid is one of the two end portions, for example substantially curved, of the third wall 266 forming the skirt 260 of the container.

When the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4, the sealing is ensured between the complementary fastening part 22 of the container and the substantially flat external surface 240 of the seal intended to come into contact with the complementary fastening part 22.

When the second end 24″ of the seal 24 is rounded and is in contact and adjusted with the end 222 of the complementary fastening part of the container 4, the sealing is also ensured between said second rounded end 24″ and the end 222 of the complementary fastening part of the container 4.

The sealing is thus reinforced.

In the present disclosure, the body 28 of the container 4 may comprise a first body part 280 having an increasing section, for example from the lower end portion 30 towards the upper end portion 32.

The first part 280 of the body 28 can thus have a frustoconical shape (FIGS. 11 and 12).

The body 28 of the container 4, for example the upper end portion 32 of the container 4, may comprise a second body part 282 of cylindrical shape.

For example, the first wall 262 of the skirt 260 of the container 4 can form the second part 282 of the body of the container which is cylindrical. The second part 282 of the body of the container, of cylindrical shape, extends for example in the extension of the first part 280 of the body of the container 28, of frustoconical shape.

As illustrated in FIG. 3, the complementary fastening part 22 of the container may comprise a peripheral heel 34 comprising an upper face and a lower face, and the second wall 16 of the lid fastening part may comprise a peripheral rib 36 extending in the housing so as to be engaged against the lower face of the peripheral heel 34 of the complementary fastening part of the container.

For example, the peripheral heel 34 is arranged on the first portion 22′ of the complementary fastening part 22 of the container 4.

For example, the peripheral heel 34 is arranged on the peripheral annular wall 270 forming the first portion 22′ of the complementary fastening part 22 of the container 4.

This makes it possible to provide a fastening of the lid on the container by snap-fitting.

According to the present disclosure, the lid 2 as previously described is manufactured by a manufacturing method comprising a step in which a lid 2 as previously described is provided and in which the seal 24 is arranged in at least part of the first housing zone only.

According to one characteristic, the method comprises a step in which the seal is overmolded to the lid by injection.

In operation, as illustrated in FIGS. 4 to 6, the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4. During the mounting, the complementary fastening device 22 of the container 4 is engaged in the housing 20 of the lid 2 and comes into contact with the rounded end 24″ of the seal 24 which is placed in the first zone 20′ of the housing 20 of the lid 2. The rounded end 24″ of the seal 24 guides the insertion of the complementary fastening device 22 of the container 4 in the second zone 20″ of the housing 20 of the lid 2 (FIG. 4).

The complementary fastening device 22 is engaged in the second zone 20″ of the housing 20 of the lid 2, along the seal 24.

The first portion 22′ of the complementary fastening device 22 of the container comes into direct contact with half of the bottom of the housing 18, that is to say half of the third wall 18 of the second zone 20″ of the housing 20 of the lid.

Due to the fact that the seal is not disposed between the bottom of the housing 18 (that is to say on the entire third wall) and the complementary fastening device 22 of the container during the mounting, it is not necessary to apply an excessive compressive force on the lid 2 so that it can be fastened to the container 4.

The seal 24 is located next to the complementary fastening device 22 of the container.

During the mounting, the peripheral rib 36 of the second wall 16 of the fastening part of the lid is engaged against the lower face of the peripheral heel 34 of the complementary fastening part of the container.

The lid 2 is thus mounted on the container 4 by snap-fitting.

Once the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4, the seal 24 which was slightly compressed by the complementary fastening device 22 during its engagement in the housing 20 of the lid 2 can expand between the first wall 24 and the complementary fastening device 22 so as to provide a sealed closure between the lid 2 and the container 4 (FIG. 6).

As illustrated in FIG. 5, the second portion 22′ of the complementary fastening device 22 of the container can be engaged in the rounded end 24″ of the seal 24 of the lid, which makes it possible to further improve the sealing between the lid and the container.

In an embodiment illustrated in FIG. 7, the complementary fastening part 22 of the container may comprise a second peripheral heel 40 comprising an upper face 41 and a lower face 42, and the second wall 16 of the fastening part of the lid may comprise a second peripheral rib 43 extending in the housing so as to be engaged against the lower face 42 of the second peripheral heel 40 of the complementary fastening part of the container.

In the present disclosure, the second peripheral heel 40 is arranged under the first peripheral heel and the second peripheral rib 43 is arranged under the first peripheral rib 36.

For example, the second peripheral heel 40 is arranged on the second portion 22″ of the complementary fastening part 22 of the container 4.

This makes it possible to further strengthen the fastening of the lid to the container by snap-fitting.

In an embodiment illustrated in FIG. 8, the complementary fastening part 22 of the container may comprise a third peripheral heel 50 comprising an upper face 51 and a lower face 52, and the second wall 16 of the fastening part of the lid may comprise a third peripheral rib 53 extending in the housing so as to be engaged against the lower face 52 of the second peripheral heel 50 of the complementary fastening part of the container.

In the present disclosure, the third peripheral heel 50 is arranged under the second peripheral heel 40 and the third peripheral rib 53 is arranged under the second peripheral rib 43.

For example, the third peripheral heel 50 is arranged on the second portion 22″ of the complementary fastening part 22 of the container 4.

This makes it possible to further strengthen the fastening of the lid to the container by snap-fitting.

Thanks to the plurality of heels of the container and the complementary ribs of the lid, the retention of the lid on the container is improved and reinforced.

As an alternative to the plurality of heels of the container 4 and the complementary ribs of the lid 2 previously described which allow the lid 2 to be fastened on the container by clipping, the lid 2 can be fastened on the container 4 by screwing.

The lid 2 and the container 4 are configured so as to allow the lid 2 to be fastened on the container 4 by screwing.

FIG. 13 illustrates the lid 2 when it is screwed to the container 4.

As illustrated in FIGS. 14 and 15, the lid 2 can comprise a thread 64 configured to cooperate with a complementary thread 60 of the container 4.

For example, in the assembly illustrated in FIG. 13, the second wall 16 of the fastening part 10 of the lid 2 may comprise the thread 64, for example annular, and the complementary fastening part 22 of the container 4 may comprise the complementary thread 60, for example annular.

For example, the complementary thread 60 is arranged on the peripheral annular wall 270 forming the first portion 22′ of the complementary fastening part 22 of the container 4 (FIG. 14).

As illustrated in FIG. 9, the assembly 1 as previously described may further comprise a deformation rib 7 configured to deform a part of the seal 24 when the lid 2 is mounted on the container 8.

The assembly 1 may comprise the lid 2 as previously described, the container 4 as previously described and the deformation rib 7 configured to deform a part of the seal 24 when the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4.

In the example which is illustrated in FIG. 9, the complementary fastening part 22 of the container comprises for example two peripheral heels 34, 40 and the second wall 16 of the fastening part 10 of the lid comprises for example two peripheral ribs 36, 43.

For example the deformation rib 7 is configured to deform at least part of the seal 24, for example part of the seal 24, for example only part of the seal 24.

The seal 24 is configured to be elastically deformed by the deformation rib 7.

The deformation rib 7 is configured to maintain the deformed part of the seal as long as the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4.

For example, the deformation rib 7 is configured to deform the part of the seal 24 when the deformation rib 7 comes into contact, for example direct, with the seal 24.

For example, the deformation is reversible.

For example, the deformed part of the seal 24 is configured to return to its initial shape, for example when the deformation rib 7 is no longer in contact with the seal 24, for example when the lid 2 is disassembled, for example removed from the container 4.

For example, the deformation rib 7 is configured to deform only part of the seal 24 when the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4.

For example, the deformation rib 7 is configured to deform an edge of the seal 24.

For example, the deformation rib 7 is configured to deform the second end 24″ of the seal, comprising for example a rounded surface.

For example, the seal 24 is configured to be deformed by complementarity of shape with the deformation rib 7.

For example, the deformation rib 7 may have a «V» shape, for example a «V» shaped section.

For example, the deformation rib 7 is configured so as to deform the part of the seal 24 so that the deformed part of the seal, forms a «V» whose two legs extend on either side of the deformation rib 7 when the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4.

For example, the part of the seal 24 is configured to expand on either side of the deformation rib 7, for example when the deformation rib 7 is in contact with the seal 24 and deforms the part of the seal, for example when the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4.

For example, the container 4 comprises the deformation rib 7.

For example, the complementary fastening part 22 comprises the deformation rib 7.

For example, the second portion 22″ of the complementary fastening part 22 comprises the deformation rib 7.

For example, the deformation rib 7 can be arranged on the end 222 of the second portion 22″ of the complementary fastening part 22, intended to be engaged against the second end 24″ of the seal 24 when the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4.

For example, the deformation rib 7 can be arranged on the skirt 260 of the container.

For example, the deformation rib 7 can extend along the skirt 260 of the container 4.

The deformation rib 7 can be an annular rib.

For example, the deformation rib 7 can be arranged on the third wall 266 of the annular skirt 260 of the container 4.

For example, the deformation rib 7 projects from the annular skirt 260 of the container 4.

For example, the deformation rib 7 projects from the third wall 266 of the annular skirt 260 of the container 4.

For example, the deformation rib 7 is formed in one piece with the container 4.

For example, the deformation rib 7 is formed in one piece with the annular skirt 260 of the container 4.

When the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4, the sealing is ensured between the complementary fastening part 22 of the container and the substantially flat external surface 240 of the seal intended to come into contact with the complementary fastening part 22.

When the second end 24″ of the seal 24 is rounded and is in contact with the end 222 of the complementary fastening part of the container 4, the sealing is also ensured between said second rounded end 24″ and the end 222 of the complementary fastening part of the container 4. The sealing is thus reinforced.

The sealing is further reinforced by the presence of the deformation rib 7, arranged for example on the end 222 of the complementary fastening part of the container 4 intended to be engaged against the rounded end 24″ of the seal 24.

The deformation rib 7 makes it possible to deform the seal 24 so that the seal 24 is expanded and widens, for example occasionally, for example locally, so as to improve the contact and enlarge the contact surface between the seal 24 and the container 4.

This configuration allows ensuring an optimal sealing over a maximum contact surface between the lid and the container.

When the first wall 14 of the skirt 12 of the lid 2 extends, for example in its entirety, parallel to the axis «X» passing through the center of the lid (FIGS. 9 and 10) and the first wall 262 of the skirt 260 of the container 4 extends, for example in its entirety, parallel to the axis «X′» passing through the center of the container (FIGS. 9 and 11), the contact surface between these two walls 14, 262 (FIG. 9) is extended and makes it possible to reinforce the mechanical strength of the lid 2 on the container 4, for example by the plastic-plastic contact between the two walls 14, 262, when the lid 2 is mounted on the container 4.

This configuration further makes it possible to improve the fastening of the lid 2 to the container 4, for example by means of the heels of the lid 2 and to the ribs of the container 4.

When the assembly 1 has the arrangement of the walls 14, 262 of the lid and the container as previously described, that is to say extending parallel to the respective axes of revolution of the lid and the container and that the assembly comprises the deformation rib 7, this configuration allows to ensure both mechanical strength of the lid on the container and an optimal sealing.
