The subject of the invention is an assembly for transforming a piece of furniture from a sitting position into a lying position, which provides rest in a lying position as well as sleeping in this position. The invention finds application, especially in upholstered furniture, such as sofas, corner sofas, etc.
The known assembly for converting a piece of furniture from a sitting position to a lying position consists of one motor placed centrally and two mechanisms, right and left placed opposite each other in the wooden box of the furniture.
Each of the mechanisms has a lifting mechanism, which is made of a fastening slat attached to a fixed piece of furniture, a rear arm articulated with the lower end with the fastening slat and the upper end with the angle slat, and the front arm articulated with the lower end with the fastening slat and the upper end with the angle slat. The seat is mounted to the angle slats.
The motor has a retractable piston with a mounted handle also attached to the movable seat, which is driven by the motor through a set of rollers or sliders moving in a guide.
The known assembly used so far makes it possible to transform the furniture into a relaxing position, which is done by sliding the seat horizontally from under the backrest of the furniture.
The furniture is unfolded after pressing the button on the side of the furniture or in the remote control. Then the centrally mounted motor extends the seat to the relaxation position and automatically stops after reaching this position.
In order to eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages, a set has been developed that allows obtaining an intermediate position during the transformation of the furniture, i.e. a relaxing position on the extended seat and the final position for lying, created by the extended seat and the mattress adhering to the rear part of the seat.
In an embodiment, the present invention is an assembly for converting a piece of furniture from a sitting position to a lying position according to the invention, having two mechanisms placed in the furniture box, right and left, and a motor acting through intermediate elements on the sliding seat of the furniture. Each of the mechanisms has a lifting mechanism, which is made of a fastening slat fastened to a fixed element of furniture, to the rear arm articulated at the lower end with the fastening slat and the upper end with the corner slat and the front arm articulated with the lower end with the fastening slat and the upper end with the angle slat, the angle slat of each lifting mechanism having holes for fixing the seat. The lift of each mechanism has a lever articulated with the lower end with a fastening slat, and the upper end is articulated with the connector, which is articulated with the front arm, and in the lever there is a through-groove in which a pin embedded in the upper part of the connector is slidably placed, and in the upper part of the lever there is a shaped recess having a contact surface. Each intermediate element affecting the seat is a movable bracket with a pin and a C-profile in which the engine carriage cooperating with the propeller is mounted. The motor is placed in each mechanism.
The pin is embedded in the bent part of the bracket angle.
The C-profile of the bracket is attached to the vertical part of the angle bar.
Each bracket has at least one roller, preferably two rollers, rotatably mounted to the vertical part of the angle bar, the rollers being located in the channel section of the guide.
In each lifting mechanism in the raised position, the pin is embedded in the recess of the lift lever.
The assembly according to the invention is preferably equipped with support rollers attached to their bases, each support roller being located at one mechanism, in the vicinity of the mechanism's lift lever.
Advantages (beneficial effects of using the invention):
The structure of the assembly according to the invention enables the unfolding of the furniture in an intermediate position, i.e. a relaxation position and a final position intended for lying cross for two people. The extended seat with the mattress creates a large surface for comfortable rest, lying and sleeping in a position parallel to the backrest of the furniture. The user has the option of choosing a resting position.
The use of supporting rollers is desirable in the folded furniture and during its transition to the relaxation function, as it prevents the furniture from tilting backwards as a result of increased pressure on the furniture backrest. The extension of the seat can be carried out when the furniture is loaded by the whole family.
The mechanisms are practically invisible when built into the furniture, both in the closed position, i.e. folded, and in the open position, i.e. unfolded.
Shaped recess constituting a contact surface ensures smooth lifting and putting down the mattress. The motors are located outside the furniture box, e.g. in the armrest.
The engine subassembly uses synchronization of operation using a synchronizing module for a pair of engines. There is no need for a mechanical synchronizer.
The compact design of the mechanism allows it to be used in furniture with high legs.
The subject of the invention is shown in an example of execution in the drawing, where:
The assembly for converting a piece of furniture from a sitting position to a lying position according to the invention comprises two mechanisms, right and left, placed opposite each other in the furniture box.
Each of the mechanisms 1 has a motor 2, a guide 3 located along the side of the furniture, a sliding bracket 4 and a lift 5. The brackets 4 and the lifters 5 of the furniture conversion unit are of identical construction and are mirror images of each other.
Each motor 2 is located in the rear part of the mechanism 1 and is attached to the handles 6 and has a movable carriage 34 moving along the propeller 35. The carriage 34 may be in the form of a nut, e.g. a split nut or another element with an internal thread.
In cross-section, each guide 3 has the shape of a C-profile 7 passing with the horizontal lower shelf 8 into a vertically located flat bar 9, in which there are mounting holes 10 for attaching the guide 3 to a fixed element of the furniture.
Each bracket 4 is made of an angle bar 13, to whose vertical part 12 at least one roller 11, preferably two rollers 11, is rotatably fixed on one side, and a U-section 14 is attached on the other side. The carriage 34 of the motor 2 is fixed in the channel section 14. A pin 16 is embedded in the bent part 15 of the angle bar 13 of the bracket 4. In the horizontal part 17 of the angle bar 13 there are mounting holes 18 for fixing the seat frame S.
Rollers 11 are placed in the channel section 7 of the guide 3.
Each lift 5 is made of a fastening slat 19 in the form of a flat bar attached to the inside of the side of the furniture and a lever 20 articulated with the fastening slat 19 at the lower end. Furthermore, the lift 5 has a rear arm 21 articulated at its lower end with a fastening slat 19 and an upper end with an angle slat 22, and a front arm 23 articulated at its lower end with a fastening slat 19 and its upper end with an angle strip 22. In addition, the lever 20 is articulated at its upper end with the connector 24, which is articulated with the lower part of the front arm 23. In the lever 20 there is a through groove 25 in which a pin 26 is slidably placed in the upper part of the connector 24. In the upper part of the lever 20, a shaped recess 27 having a contact surface 28 is made. In the horizontal shelf 29 of the angle bar 22 there are mounting holes 30 for attaching the mattress M.
Preferably, the assembly for converting the furniture from a sitting position to a lying position is equipped with support rollers 32 attached to bases 33 which are fixedly attached to the sides of the furniture. Each support roller 32 is located at one mechanism 1, close to the lever 20 of the lift 5 of the mechanism 1.
Two wheels 31 are attached to the front part of the seat S.
Principle of operations:
The assembly for transforming a piece of furniture from a sitting position to a lying position according to the invention enables the transformation of the piece of furniture by sliding the seat S horizontally from under the backrest O and by raising the mattress M located in the furniture box to the height of the seat S and creating, together with the seat S, a large lying surface L.
The furniture can be unfolded after pressing the P button located on the side of the furniture B or on the remote control Z. The motors 2 then move the seat S to the relaxation position and after reaching it, they automatically stop for a moment. This is a safe position as there is no gap behind the seat S. If the user continues to press the P button or releases it and activates it again, the motors 2 will continue to extend the seat S, while the movement can be stopped at any time in any position. S seat it moves as a result of the movement of the brackets 4 due to the cooperation of the carriages 34 with the propellers 35.
During further movement from the relaxed position to the front, the pins 16 moving together with the brackets 4 reach the contact surfaces 28 of the lever 20. During further movement of the brackets 4, the pins 16, due to contact with the contact surfaces 28, press on the levers 20, causing their partial vertical rotation towards the front of the furniture. The rotating levers 20 through the pins 26 located in the grooves 25 located in the levers 20 affect the connectors 24 connected to the front arms 23, which in turn raises the arms 21, 23 of the lifters 5 and thus raises the mattress M to the height of the seat position S and creates in the unfolded position with a large lying surface L. In this position, the lifts 5 are locked by inserting pins 16 in shaped recesses 27, preventing the lifts 5 from being folded.
The furniture is folded in the reverse order as when unfolding. After starting the motors 2 with the P button, the brackets 4 and the seat S move backwards, causing the pins 16 to come out of the recesses 27 of the lever 20 and the lifters 5 to be unlocked and folded together with the mattress M in the furniture box. The folded piece of furniture assumes a relaxing position. When reversing to the relaxed position, it is possible to stop the movement in any position. After reaching the relaxation position, the automatic stop occurs again, and after holding down or pressing the P button, the brackets 4 and the seat S continue to move until the folded position of the furniture is reached. In this phase, it is also possible to stop the movement in any position.
During the movement of the brackets 4 in the phase of unfolding and folding the furniture, the rollers 11 of the brackets 4 move and rotate in the guides 3.
The seat S moves on the ground by means of its wheels 31.
