Claims
- 1. A base assembly a melting vessel comprising:a base; a tapping device mounted to said base and having a passage for flow therethrough of molten material; a cooled inductor to be connected to an electrical source and mounted with respect to said tapping device so that said inductor can be inductively coupled to at least one of the molten material and said tapping device; and said tapping device being electrically conductive.
- 2. An assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein said tapping device comprises a discharge nozzle inductively coupled to said inductor.
- 3. An assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein said tapping device comprises an immersion spout inductively coupled to said inductor.
- 4. An assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein said tapping device comprises a discharge spout and a stopper inductively coupled to said inductor.
- 5. An assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein said inductor comprises a coil having opposite ends and a passage therethrough.
- 6. An assembly as claimed in claim 5, further comprising two supply lines, one connected to each said end of said coil, and at least one discharge line connected to a middle portion of said coil located between said ends.
- 7. An assembly as claimed in claim 6, comprising two discharge lines connected to said middle portion.
- 8. An assembly as claimed in claim 7, further comprising a partition wall at a position between said two discharge lines and dividing said passage into two passages.
- 9. An assembly as claimed in claim 5, comprising further two discharge lines, one connected to each said end of said coil, and at least one supply line connected to a middle portion of said coil located between said ends.
- 10. An assembly as claimed in claim 9, comprising two supply lines connected to said middle portion.
- 11. An assembly as claimed in claim 10, further comprising a partition wall at a position between said two supply lines and dividing said passage into two passages.
- 12. An assembly as claimed in claim 5, further comprising a first supply line connected to a first said end of said coil, a first discharge line connected to a second said end of said coil, a second supply line connected to a middle portion of said coil between said ends, and a second discharge line connected to said middle portion.
- 13. An assembly as claimed in claim 12, further comprising a partition wall at a position between said second supply line and said second discharge line and dividing said passage into first and second passages, with said first passage connecting said first supply line with said second discharge line, and with said second passage connecting said second supply line with said first discharge line.
- 14. An assembly as claimed in claim 5, wherein said coil has a helical configuration.
- 15. An assembly as claimed in claim 14, wherein at least a portion of said helical configuration is widened.
- 16. An assembly as claimed in claim 5, wherein said coil has a spiral configuration.
- 17. An assembly as claimed in claim 16, wherein said coil is flat.
- 18. An assembly as claimed in claim 5, wherein said coil comprises plural separate coil portions.
- 19. An assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein said inductor is cooled by having cooling fluid pass therethrough.
- 20. An assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein said tapping device comprises a refractory ceramic material.
- 21. An assembly as claimed in claim 20, wherein said tapping device comprises a discharge nozzle inductively coupled to said inductor.
- 22. An assembly as claimed in claim 20, wherein said tapping device comprises an immersion spout inductively coupled to said inductor.
- 23. An assembly as claimed in claim 20, wherein said inductor is cooled by having cooling fluid pass therethrough.
