Claims
- 1. An astragal boot, comprising:
a boot body for mounting onto a lower end of an astragal disposed at a free side edge of a semi-active panel in a double panel set; and at least one fin projecting downwardly from said boot body for engaging an underlying threshold when the semi-active panel is in a closed position.
- 2. The astragal boot of claim 1 wherein said boot body is formed from a molded plastic material having a size and shape for substantially mated-fit mounting onto the lower end of the astragal.
- 3. The astragal boot of claim 1 further including a substantially rigid reinforcing plate.
- 4. The astragal boot of claim 3 wherein said substantially rigid reinforcing plate is snap-fit mounted to said boot body.
- 5. The astragal boot of claim 3 wherein said substantially rigid reinforcing plate is co-molded with said boot body.
- 6. The astragal boot of claim 1 further including at least one bolt port formed in said bolt body for slide-through passage of a lock bolt carried by the semi-active panel and engageable with a keeper on the threshold.
- 7. The astragal boot of claim 1 wherein said at least one fin comprises a compliant fin.
- 8. The astragal boot of claim 7 wherein said complaint fin increases in flexibility toward a distal end thereof.
- 9. The astragal boot of claim 1 wherein said at least one fin comprises a pair of fins carried by said boot body in generally spaced-apart, substantially parallel relation to define a recess therebetween for receiving and supporting an adjacent end of a weatherstrip mounted on a lower end of the semi-active panel.
- 10. The astragal boot of claim 1 further including a support pin upstanding from said boot body, said support pin being engageable with and supporting a lower end of a weatherstrip mounted on the astragal.
- 11. The astragal boot of claim 1 further including a slot formed in said boot body for receiving and supporting a lower end of a weatherstrip mounted on the astragal.
- 12. The astragal boot of claim 1 wherein said at least one fin comprises a plurality of spaced-apart fins carried by said boot body for engaging an underlying threshold when the semi-active panel is in a closed position.
- 13. The astragal boot of claim 1 further including first and second bolt ports formed in said boot body, said first bolt port being positioned for slide-through passage of a lock bolt carried by the semi-active panel and engageable with a keeper on the threshold when said boot body is mounted onto an astragal disposed at the free side edge of the semi-active panel in a right-hand orientation, and said second bolt port being positioned for slide-through passage of a lock bolt carried by the semi-active panel and engageable with a keeper on the threshold when said boot body is mounted onto an astragal disposed at the free side edge of the semi-active panel in a left-hand orientation.
- 14. The astragal boot of claim 1 wherein the double panel set comprises a hinged double door set including a semi-active door and a primary door.
- 15. An astragal boot, comprising:
a boot body for mounting onto a lower end of an astragal disposed at a free side edge of a semi-active panel in a double panel set; and a plurality of compliant fins projecting downwardly from said boot body for engaging an underlying threshold when the semi-active panel is in a closed position, said fins defining a recess therebetween for receiving and supporting an adjacent end of a weatherstrip mounted on a lower end of the semi-active panel.
- 16. The astragal boot of claim 15 wherein said boot body is formed from a molded plastic material, and further including a substantially rigid reinforcing plate.
- 17. The astragal boot of claim 15 further including at least one bolt port formed in said bolt body for slide-through passage of a lock bolt carried by the semi-active panel and engageable with a keeper on the threshold.
- 18. The astragal boot of claim 15 further including a support pin upstanding from said boot body, said support pin being engageable with and supporting a lower end of a weatherstrip mounted on the astragal.
- 19. The astragal boot of claim 15 further including a slot formed in said boot body for receiving and supporting a lower end of a weatherstrip mounted on the astragal.
- 20. An astragal boot, comprising:
a boot body for reversible mounting onto a lower end of an astragal disposed in a selected one of right- and left-hand orientations at a free side edge of a semi-active panel in a double panel set; at least one fin projecting downwardly from said boot body for engaging an underlying threshold when the semi-active panel is in a closed position; and first and second bolt ports formed in said boot body, said first bolt port being positioned for slide-through passage of a lock bolt carried by the semi-active panel and engageable with a keeper on the threshold when said boot body is mounted onto an astragal disposed in said right-hand orientation, and said second bolt port being positioned for slide-through passage of a lock bolt carried by the semi-active panel and engageable with a keeper on the threshold when said boot body is mounted onto an astragal disposed in said left-hand orientation.
- 21. The astragal boot of claim 20 wherein said boot body is formed from a molded plastic material, and further including a substantially rigid reinforcing plate.
- 22. The astragal boot of claim 20 wherein said at least one fin comprises a pair of fins carried by said boot body in generally spaced-apart, substantially parallel relation to define a recess therebetween for receiving and supporting an adjacent end of a weatherstrip mounted on a lower end of the semi-active panel.
- 23. The astragal boot of claim 20 further including first and second support pins upstanding from said boot body and separably connected thereto, said first support pin being positioned for receiving and supporting a lower end of an astragal-mounted weatherstrip mounted when said boot body is mounted onto an astragal disposed in said right-hand orientation, and said second support pin being positioned for receiving and supporting a lower end of an astragal-mounted weatherstrip mounted when said boot body is mounted onto an astragal disposed in said left-hand orientation.
- 24. The astragal boot of claim 20 further including first and second slots formed in said boot body, said first slot being positioned for receiving and supporting a lower end of an astragal-mounted weatherstrip mounted when said boot body is mounted onto an astragal disposed in said right-hand orientation, and said second slot being positioned for receiving and supporting a lower end of an astragal-mounted weatherstrip mounted when said boot body is mounted onto an astragal disposed in said left-hand orientation.
- 25. The astragal boot of claim 20 further including first and second wall segments formed on said boot body and separably connected thereto, said first wall segment being removable to define a cut-out for receiving and supporting an adjacent end of a weatherstrip mounted on a lower end of the semi-active panel when said boot body is mounted onto an astragal in said right-hand orientation, and said second wall segment being removable to define a cut-out for receiving and supporting an adjacent end of a weatherstrip mounted on a lower end of the semi-active panel when said boot body is mounted onto an astragal in said left-hand orientation.
- 26. In a double panel set including a frame defining an opposed pair of jambs extending between an upper header and a lower threshold, primary and semi-active panels hingedly supported respectively by said pair of said jambs, an astragal disposed at a free side edge of said semi-active panel and defining a stop surface for engagement by a free side edge of said primary panel when said primary and semi-active panels are in a closed position, and weatherstripping carried at the bottom edges of said primary and semi-active panels for engaging said threshold when each of said panels is in the closed position, an astragal boot comprising:
a boot body at a lower end of said astragal, said boot body carrying at least one fin projecting downwardly therefrom for engaging said threshold when the semi-active panel is in a closed position for substantially closing a gap between adjacent ends of said weatherstripping carried at the bottom edges of said panels when said panels are in the closed position.
- 27. The astragal boot of claim 26 wherein said boot body is formed from a molded plastic material having a size and shape for substantially mated-fit mounting onto the lower end of said astragal.
- 28. The astragal boot of claim 27 further including a substantially rigid reinforcing plate.
- 29. The astragal boot of claim 26 further including at least one bolt port formed in said boot body for slide-through passage of a lock bolt carried by said semi-active panel and engageable with a keeper on said threshold.
- 30. The astragal boot of claim 26 wherein said at least one fin comprises a pair of fins carried by said boot body in generally spaced-apart, substantially parallel relation to define a recess therebetween for receiving and supporting an adjacent end of the weatherstripping carried at said bottom edge of said semi-active panel.
- 31. The astragal boot of claim 26 further including a support pin upstanding from said boot body, said support pin being engageable with and supporting a lower end of a weatherstrip carried by said astragal.
- 32. The astragal boot of claim 26 further including a slot formed in said boot body for receiving and supporting a lower end of a weatherstrip carried by said astragal.
- 33. The astragal boot of claim 26 wherein said boot body is reversibly mountable onto the lower end of said astragal carried by said semi-active panel in respective right- and left-hand orientations.
- 34. The astragal boot of claim 26 wherein said semi-active panel comprises a semi-active door, and wherein said primary panel comprises a primary door.
