Claims
- 1. A method for altering a mammalian cell ex vivo comprising the step of introducing into said cell nucleic acid encoding the entire E3 region of an adenovirus under the control of a suitable promoter so that said nucleic acid encoding the entire E3 region is expressed in said cell in an amount sufficient to attenuate rejection of the altered cell in a non-immunosuppressed allogeneic recipient.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the mammalian cell is a human cell.
- 3. A recombinant mammalian cell suitable as an allograft, said cell being transfected with nucleic acid encoding the entire E3 region of an adenovirus under the control of a suitable promoter so that said nucleic acid encoding the entire E3 region is expressed in said cell in an amount sufficient to attenuate rejection of the cell in a non-immunosuppressed allogeneic recipient.
- 4. The mammalian cell of claim 3, that is a human cell.
