Claims
- 1. In an automotive battery production system, apparatus for selectively isolating automotive batteries comprising:
- a. first and second conveyor means, each comprising a plurality of parallel rollers, at least a portion of the rollers being elongated rollers each of which extend at least substantially across both conveyor means in the vicinity of a battery processing position defined on said first conveyor means, whereby said elongated rollers constitute a portion of each of said conveyor means;
- b. continuous cable means between said first and second conveyor means disposed parallel to and underneath said elongated rollers; and
- c. a pusher disposed contiguous to said battery processing position mounted to slidably track along at least two of said elongated rollers upon motion of said cable means to slide a battery substantially axially along said elongated rollers to said second conveyor means, said rollers coacting with said pusher to substantially prevent movement of said pusher in a direction transverse with respect to the axis of said rollers.
- 2. Apparatus as described in claim 1 wherein said pusher extends between ones of said longer rollers to track between said rollers.
- 3. Apparatus as described in claim 1 further comprising:
- a. means for subjecting said batteries to a battery process at said battery processing position; and
- b. means for producing motion of said cable in response to results of said process.
- 4. Apparatus as described in claim 1 wherein said continuous cable means comprises a first cable loop over a first set of pulleys, said loop operable in response to said results of said processs; and a second cable loop over a second set of two pulleys and connected at at least one point to said first cable loop, said pusher being connected to said second cable loop; and wherein said means for producing motion of said cable comprises motor means operable to rotate at least one of said second set of pulleys.
