Claims
- 1. Apparatus for advancing a sheet to a predetermined location on an exposure platen including in combination means for feeding said sheet along said exposure platen at a first speed toward said location, wherein said feeding means comprises at least one belt, and wherein said feeding means is capable of driving said belt at more than one speed, means for controlling the speed of said feeding means, wherein said controlling means are operable prior to the arrival of said sheet at said location for reducing the speed of said belt to a second driven speed, and means for intercepting the leading edge of said sheet at said location to arrest said sheet while being fed at said reduced speed.
- 2. Apparatus as in claim 1 in which said control means is operable upon the movement of said sheet within a predetermined distance of said location.
- 3. Apparatus as in claim 1 in which said feeding means slippingly engages said sheet to permit relative motion between said sheet and said feeding means.
- 4. Apparatus as in claim 1 in which said feeding means frictionally engages said sheet to permit relative motion between said sheet and said feeding means.
- 5. An apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said second driven speed is approximately 1/5 of said first speed.
- 6. Apparatus for advancing a sheet to a predetermined location on an exposure platen including, in combination, a single belt for feeding said sheet along said exposure platen at a first speed towards said location,
- means for driving said belt at one speed,
- means for controlling the speed of said belt driving means, wherein said controlling means are operable prior to the arrival of said sheet at said location for reducing the speed of said belt to a second driven speed which is slower than said first speed, and
- means for intercepting the leading edge of said sheet at said location to arrest said sheet while being fed at said second driven speed.
- 7. Apparatus as in claim 8 wherein said controlling means is operable upon the movement of said sheet within a predetermined distance of said location.
