Claims
- 1. A method of determining relative components of a liquid sample in an apparatus having an application plate disposed on a base and an electrophoresis support medium removably secured to a top surface of said application plate, and a sample plate having at least two liquid sample wells having liquid to be sampled disposed therein, where the sample plate is separated from the application plate, the method comprising the steps of,
- robotically applying simultaneously at least two liquid samples from said at least two liquid sample wells of said sample plate to said support medium while said support medium is disposed on said application plate, and
- while continuously maintaining the position of said support medium on said application plate, applying electrophoresis current to said support medium, operably creating an electrophoretically displaced pattern of components of said liquid samples.
- 2. A method of determining relative components of a liquid sample in an apparatus having an application plate longitudinally disposed on a base and an electrophoresis support medium removably secured to a top surface of said application plate, the method comprising the steps of,
- applying a liquid sample to said support medium while said support medium is disposed on said application plate,
- while continuously maintaining the position of said support medium on said application plate, longitudinally applying electrophoresis current to said support medium, operably creating an electrophoretically longitudinally displaced pattern of components of said liquid sample, and
- while continuously maintaining the position of said support medium on said application plate, staining, incubating and drying said support medium.
- 3. The method of claim 2 further comprising the step of,
- while continuously maintaining the position of said support medium on said application plate, generating an electronic image of the top surface of said support medium.
- 4. Apparatus for determining relative components of a liquid sample comprising
- a base,
- an application plate longitudinally disposed on said base,
- an electrophoresis support medium removably secured in a position on a top surface of said application plate,
- a sample plate disposed on said base having at least two liquid sample wells having liquid to be sampled disposed therein, where said sample plate is separated from said application plate,
- robotic means for simultaneously applying at least two liquid samples from said at least two liquid sample wells of said sample plate to said support medium while said support medium is in said position on said application plate, and
- means for applying electrophoresis current to said support medium while said support medium is continuously maintained in said position on said application plate.
- 5. Apparatus for determining relative components of a liquid sample comprising
- a base,
- an application plate longitudinally disposed on said base,
- an electrophoresis support medium removably secured in a position on a top surface of said application plate,
- means for applying a liquid sample to said support medium while said support medium is in said position on said application plate,
- means for longitudinally applying electrophoresis current to said support medium while said support medium is continuously maintained in said position on said application plate, and
- means for staining, incubating and drying said support medium while said support medium is continuously maintained in said position on said application plate.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 3 further comprising
- means for generating an electronic image of the top surface of said support medium while continuously maintaining said position of said support medium on said application plate.
