Apparatus according to claim 44 wherein said first and second cutting edges are carried by said first and second pressheads respectively, said cooperable means including first and second reaction means carried by said support structure and cooperable with said first and second cutting edges respectively for cutting the stock along predetermined lines of cut as said first and second pressheads move along their respective paths thereby to form connector plates of predetermined length, each of said reaction means including a guide member having a plurality of tines defining a plurality of laterally spaced recesses for receiving and guiding the teeth of the connector stock, the ends of said tines being engageable against the stock substantially along its predetermined line of cut when said cutting edge cuts said plate, and means engageable with each metal stock for aligning the stock relative to the respective cutting edges such that next adjacent transversely extending rows of teeth of each stock lie on opposite sides of the associated cutting edge when the stock is cut whereby the stock is cut along a line between next adjacent transverse rows of teeth.
- 54. Apparatus according to claim 44 wherein the first and second mentioned feed means each includes a guide member having a plurality of tines defining a plurality of laterally spaced recesses for receiving and guiding the teeth of the connector stock, means for clamping the connector stock against the tines with the ends thereof engageable against the side of the stock from which the teeth project, and means for advancing said guide member and said clamping means substantially simultaneously to locate portions of the stock in the path of movement of the corresponding head, and means engageable with each metal stock for aligning the stock relative to the respective cutting edges such that next adjacent transversely extending rows of teeth of each stock lie on opposite sides of the associated cutting edge when the stock is cut whereby the stock is cut along a line between next adjacent transverse rows of teeth.
- 55. Apparatus according to claim 44 including means carried by said support structure for maintaining the connector plates in the first and second paths of movement of said first and second pressheads respectively after the first and second connector plates are cut from the respective first and second strips of metal stock, and means engageable with each metal stock for aligning the stock relative to the respective cutting edges such that next adjacent transversely extending rows of teeth of each stock lie on opposite sides of the associated cutting edge when the stock is cut whereby the stock is cut along a line between next adjacent transverse rows of teeth.
- 56. Apparatus according to claim 44 wherein said first and second cutting edges are carried by said first and second pressheads respectively, said cooperable means including first and second reaction means carried by said support structure and cooperable with said first and second cutting edges respectively for cutting the stock along predetermined lines of cut as said first and second pressheads move along their respective paths thereby to form connector plates of predetermined length, each of said reaction means including a guide member having a plurality of tines defining a plurality of laterally spaced recesses for receiving and guiding the teeth of the connector stock, the ends of said tines being engageable against the side of the stock from which the teeth project and against the stock substantially along its predetermined line of cut when said cutting edge cuts said plate, said first and second mentioned feed means each including a guide member having a plurality of tines defining a plurality of laterally spaced recesses for receiving and guiding the teeth of the connector stock, means for clamping the connector stock against the tines with the ends thereof engageable against the side of the stock from which the teeth project, and means for advancing said guide member and said clamping means substantially simultaneously to locate portions of the stock in the path of movement of the corresponding head, means carried by said support structure for maintaining the connector plates in the first and second paths of movement of said first and second pressheads respectively after the first and second connector plates are cut from the respective first and second strips of metal stock.
- 57. Apparatus according to claim 44 wherein said first and second cutting edges are carried by said first and second pressheads respectively, said cooperable means including first and second reaction means carried by said support structure and cooperable with said first and second cutting edges respectively for cutting the stock along predetermined lines of cut as said first and second pressheads move along their respective paths thereby to form connector plates of predetermined length, each of said reaction means including a guide member having a plurality of tines defining a plurality of laterally spaced recesses for receiving and guiding the teeth of the connector stock, the ends of said tines being engageable against the side of the stock from which the teeth project and against the stock substantially along its predetermined line of cut when said cutting edge cuts said plate, means carried by said support structure for maintaining the connector plates in the first and second paths of movement of said first and second pressheads respectively after the first and second connector plates are cut from the respective first and second strips of metal stock, and means engageable with each metal stock for aligning the stock relative to the respective cutting edges such that next adjacent transversely extending rows of teeth of each stock lie on opposite sides of the associated cutting edge when the stock is cut whereby the stock is cut along a line between next adjacent transverse rows of teeth.
- 58. Apparatus according to claim 44 wherein the first and second mentioned feed means each includes a guide member having a plurality of tines defining a plurality of laterally spaced recesses for receiving and guiding the teeth of the connector stock, means for clamping the connector stock against the tines with the ends thereof engageable against the side of the stock from which the teeth project, and means for advancing said guide member and said clamping means substantially simultaneously to locate portions of the stock in the path of movement of the corresponding head, means carried by said support structure for maintaining the connector plates in the first and second paths of movement of said first and second pressheads respectively after the first and second connector plates are cut from the respective first and second strips of metal stock, and means engageable with each metal stock for aligning the stock relative to the respective cutting edges such that next adjacent transversely extending rows of teeth of each stock lie on opposite sides of the associated cutting edge when the stock is cut whereby the stock is cut along a line between next adjacent transverse rows of teeth.
