Claims
- 1. A reaming tool for reaming part way into one end of a direct clutch drum, said reaming tool comprising in operable combination,
- a self-centering tool guide means for insertion in the direct clutch drum, said self-centering tool guide means being provided with a tightening means for firmly positioning the said self-centering tool guide means within said direct clutch drum,
- a rotatable shaft for positioning within said self-centering tool guide means, said shaft being provided with an adjustable cutting bit protruding therefrom and having means for tightly fixing said cutting bit in a pre-selected position,
- said rotatable shaft being provided with a rotating means and with a depth-setting means for limiting the distance the cutting bit may enter the direct clutch drum,
- the rotatable shaft being provided with a means for applying resilient axial force to cause the cutting bit to be firmly applied to the part of the direct clutch drum which is to be reamed.
- 2. The reaming tool of claim 1 wherein the self-centering tool guide means comprises a plurality of elongate arc segments which fit together as an aggregate to form a cylindrical shape, the arc segments being held together by resilient means, said aggregate of arc segments being threaded inside one end with tapered threads, and in operable combination with said tool guide means, a cylindrically-shaped tapered threaded-spreader device operable for screwing into said tapered threads to cause the arc segments to spread apart by reacting against the resilient means.
- 3. The reaming tool of claim 2 wherein the threaded-spreader device in provided with means for connection with a holding device.
- 4. The reaming tool of claim 1 wherein the means for applying resilient axial force to the rotatable shaft, is a removable compressed spring encircling and engaging the end of the rotatable shaft distal to the cutting bit, said compressed reacting against the self-centering tool guide means.
