Claims
- 1. Apparatus for moving a shaker assembly carried on a shaker to conform to a tree contour comprising:a shaker assembly movable into and away from a tree; a plurality of feelers carried on an anchor spring biased rotatable shaft, each of the plurality of feelers generating a torque load to the shaft when a feeler contacts the tree contour, the anchor spring biased shaft supported on the shaker assembly; a sensor to detect rotation of the rotatable shaft responsive to the torque load of one or more of the plurality of feelers, the sensor having a signal generating capability responsive to shaft rotation; a controller to receive the sensor signal, compare it to a desired equilibrium point, and output a signal to reposition the shaker assembly from the detected relative position to the position corresponding to the desired position; an actuator to reposition the shaker assembly in response to the controller output signal.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the shaker assembly comprises a vibrating brush.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the plurality of feelers supported on the shaker frame comprises:cantilevered levers extending outwardly from the anchor spring biased rotatable shaft that press into and generate a torque load on the shaft responsive to the tree profile.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the cantilevered levers comprise rectangular cross section cantilevered springs.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the sensor comprises a rotary potentiometer mounted to the end of the central rotatable shaft.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the actuator consists of a hydraulic cylinder.
