Claims
- 1. An endless belt fader control comprising:
- a housing having an upper surface, said upper surface having an opening formed therein;
- a first pulley and a second pulley disposed within said housing;
- a rotatable belt disposed within said housing and supported by said first pulley and said second pulley, said rotatable belt engaging said first pulley and said second pulley such that movement of said rotatable belt imparts rotation to said first and second pulleys, and said rotatable belt extending substantially along said opening formed within said upper surface of said housing;
- a signal generating means disposed within said housing and being in communication with said rotatable belt for generating electrical signals indicative of said movement of said rotatable belt, said signal generating means being capable of providing said generated electrical signals to a processing unit disposed externally of said housing; and
- a locking means for preventing rotation of said belt in a first direction, said locking means being capable of receiving control signals from said processing unit.
- 2. The endless belt fader control of claim 1 wherein said signal generating means comprises an incremental encoder.
- 3. The endless belt fader control of claim 1 wherein, a second locking means is provided for preventing rotation of said belt in a second direction, said second locking means being capable of receiving control signals from said processing unit.
- 4. The endless belt fader control of claim 1 wherein said rotatable belt is formed from a clear, transparent material.
- 5. The endless belt fader control of claim 1 further comprising a display for displaying electronic signal levels, said display being disposed between said first and second pulleys such that it may be viewed through said rotatable belt, and said display being capable of communicating with and being controlled by said processing unit.
- 6. A rotary control comprising:
- a shaft;
- a knob mounted to one end of said shaft;
- a signal generating means operatively coupled to said shaft for generating electrical signals indicative of a rotation of said knob, said signal generating means being capable of providing said generated electrical signals to a processing unit;
- a locking means for preventing rotation of said knob in a first direction, said locking means being capable of receiving control signals from said processing unit.
- 7. The rotary control of claim 6 wherein said signal generating means comprises an incremental encoder.
- 8. The rotary control of claim 6 wherein a second locking means in provided for preventing rotation of said knob in a second direction, said second locking means being capable of receiving control signals from said processing unit.
