Claims
- 1. A power unit mounting system for a vehicle having a chassis comprising:
- a power unit;
- a plurality of mounts supporting the power unit at a plurality of suspension points on a chassis and including a first electrically controllable mount disposed at a first of the plurality of suspension points and responsive to a first electric control signal applied thereto;
- a first vibration sensor for sensing vibration at a first predetermined vibration evaluation point on the chassis remote from the suspension points where vibration occurs due to the operation of the power unit; and
- control signal generating means for vector analysis of magnitude and phase of vibrations applied to the first vibration sensor from the power unit and for generating the first control signal for the first mount in response to the vector analysis to attenuate a resultant vector comprising a vector sum of vibrations applied to the first vibration sensor from the plurality of suspension points.
- 2. A vehicle as claimed in claim 1 further comprising:
- a second vibration sensor for sensing the vibration at a second predetermined vibration evaluation point on said chassis said second evaluation point being distal from the plurality of suspension points and spaced from the first evaluation point, said second vibration sensor being operatively connected with said control signal generating means.
- 3. A vehicle as claimed in claim 2 wherein said control signal generating means includes means for generating an evaluation function based on the input from said first vibration sensor and for weighting the evaluation function based on the output of said second vibration sensor.
- 4. A vehicle as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a second electrically controllable mount which is disposed at a second of the plurality of suspension points and which supports said power unit on said chassis, said second mount being responsive to a second electric control signal applied thereto.
- 5. A vehicle as claimed in claim 4 wherein said control signal generating means includes means for discriminating which of said first and second mounts is associated with a highest contribution to the vibration sensed at said first evaluation point and for selectively controlling the selected one of said first and second mounts.
- 6. A power unit mounting system as claimed in claim 1 comprising a second vibration sensor mounted on the electrically controllable mount for sensing vibration of the electrically controllable mount, wherein the control signal generating means performs the vector analysis in response to vibrations sensed by the first and second vibration sensors.
- 7. A power unit mounting system as claimed in claim 6 wherein the first and second vibration sensors comprise accelerometers.
- 8. A power unit mounting system for a vehicle comprising:
- a chassis;
- a seat disposed on the chassis;
- a power unit;
- a plurality of power unit mounts supporting the power unit at a plurality of suspension points on the chassis, at least one of the mounts comprising an electrically controllable mount;
- vibration discrimination means for determining vibration vectors indicating magnitude and phase of vibrations that originate from the power unit mounts and are applied to an evaluation point support by the chassis near the seat; and
- control means responsive to the vibration discrimination means for controlling the electrically controllable mount based on the vibration vectors to attenuate vibration at the evaluation point.
- 9. A power unit mounting system for a vehicle comprising:
- a chassis;
- a seat disposed on the chassis;
- a power unit;
- a plurality of power unit mounts supporting the power unit at a plurality of suspension points on the chassis, at least one of the mounts comprising an electrically controllable mount;
- a first vibration sensor disposed at an evaluation point on the chassis in a vicinity of the seat;
- a second vibration sensor mounted on the electrically controllable mount;
- vector determining means responsive to the first and second vibration sensors for determining a vibration vector indicating magnitude and phase of vibrations at the evaluation point transmitted from the power unit through the electrically controllable mount; and
- control means for controlling the electrically controllable mount in response to the vibration vector to reduce the vibration vector.
- 10. A power unit mounting system as claimed in claim 9 including a floor panel supported by the chassis wherein the first vibration sensor is an accelerometer mounted on the floor panel.
