Claims
- 1. A hydraulic transaxle, comprising:
- a casing formed of a first casing section and a second casing section joined along a junction surface, said junction surface defining a plane;
- an axle rotatably supported within said casing, said axle having a longitudinal axis parallel to said junction surface;
- a hydrostatic transmission for driving said axle including a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic motor, said hydraulic motor including output means having a longitudinal axis;
- transmitting means having a longitudinal axis disposed within said casing for transmitting power from said hydraulic motor, wherein the longitudinal axis of said output means and the longitudinal axis of said transmitting means are disposed parallel to the longitudinal axis of said axle;
- a different gear unit disposed within said casing and connecting said transmitting means and said axle; and
- input means for transmitting power to said hydraulic pump.
- 2. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 1, wherein said junction surface is horizontal.
- 3. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 1, wherein said transmitting means comprises a counter shaft having a longitudinal axis, said counter shaft driven by said output means.
- 4. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 3, further comprising:
- a reducing gear unit disposed on said counter shaft.
- 5. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 4, wherein the longitudinal axis of said counter shaft is parallel to the longitudinal axis of said axle.
- 6. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 5, wherein the longitudinal axis of said counter shaft is disposed in said plane.
- 7. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 5, wherein the longitudinal axes of said counter shaft, said axle, and said output means are all disposed in said plane.
- 8. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 1, wherein said input means comprises an input shaft having a longitudinal axis disposed perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of said axle.
- 9. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 8, wherein the longitudinal axis of said input shaft is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of said output means.
- 10. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 8, wherein said hydrostatic transmission, said hydraulic pump, said hydraulic motor, said output means, and said input shaft are disposed within said casing.
- 11. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 1, wherein the longitudinal axis of said axle is disposed in said place.
- 12. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 11, wherein the longitudinal axis of said transmitting means is disposed in said plane.
- 13. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 1, wherein the longitudinal axis of said transmitting means is disposed in said plane.
- 14. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 1, further comprising:
- a reducing gear unit connecting said transmitting means and said differential gear unit.
- 15. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 14, wherein said differential gear unit comprises:
- a gear drivingly connected to said axle; and
- a ring gear in engagement with said reducing gear unit.
- 16. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 14, wherein said axle comprises a pair of axle shafts driven by said differential gear unit, each of said pair extending in a direction opposite to the other of said pair.
- 17. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 1, wherein the longitudinal axes of said transmitting means, said axle, and said output means are all disposed in said plane.
- 18. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 1, wherein said hydrostatic transmission is disposed within said casing.
- 19. A hydraulic transaxle, comprising:
- a casing formed of a first casing section and a second casing section joined along a junction surface;
- an axle rotatably supported within said casing, said axle having a longitudinal axis parallel to said junction surface;
- a hydrostatic transmission for driving said axle including pump and a hydraulic motor, said hydraulic motor including output means having a longitudinal axis;
- transmitting means having a longitudinal axis disposed within said casing for transmitting power from said hydraulic motor, wherein the longitudinal axis of said output means and the longitudinal axis of said transmitting means are disposed parallel to the longitudinal axis of said axle and wherein the longitudinal axis of said output means, the longitudinal axis of said transmitting means, and the longitudinal axis of said axle are disposed in a single plane;
- a differential gear unit disposed within said casing and connecting said transmitting means and said axle; and
- input means for transmitting power to said hydraulic pump.
- 20. A hydraulic transaxle according to claim 19, wherein said single plane is parallel to said junction surface.
