Babies often wear garments that cover them entirely, but yet have openings to allow changing the baby's diaper and to enable clothing changes. Babies get dirty when they eat. When that happens, the entire garment then needs to be changed.
The present application describes a special baby garment which has a removable and replaceable front part that enables the baby to be kept dry and safe, to keep the baby healthy, happy, clean and dry and assist in making the mom stress less.
The removable and replaceable part enables replacement of the area near the baby's mouth/face. This carries out very easy changing and unchanging as well as keeping the baby warm and safe since the baby does not need to be changed as often. According to an embodiment, the system is referred to as the “Baby Luv Shib”.
In the Drawings:
The present invention describes an item of clothing with a removable part spanning the neck area of the clothing.
An embodiment, described herein, describes using a one-piece item of clothing, e.g, an item of clothing where The clothing is a single piece suit, having integral arms and legs, and having the openings at the ends of the arms for the hands to emerge an opening on the legs for the feet to emerge. The single piece part of the suit covers the shoulders, arms, stomach and legs. In one embodiment, this is a single piece item of clothing for babies.
The clothing can be a sleeper, shirt or any other clothing.
The clothing can be made of any material preferably a material that is hypoallergenic and non-rash forming, such as mixed cotton, polyester or other baby-safe material.
A removable portion 130 is removable from the rest of the clothing item. The removable portion 130 detaches from shoulder to shoulder, and down to a stomach area of the clothing allowing removal of the chest portion of the sleeper when that portion is dirty, thus enabling putting on a new portion without changing the clothing entirely. In this way, for example when the baby (or child) eats, and in the process gets food on an area under their face, they can change only that part of the clothing, without changing the entire item of clothing.
An embodiment is shown in
The inner shape of the cut out portion 120 extends down from both shoulders 122, 123, towards the stomach portion, extending approximately to or just above the belly button area shown as 125, the lower most edge of the cut out. The outer shape of the cut out portion 120 is generally rounded at most points and avoids straight line areas. The edge of the cut out portion defines a perimeter, and the outer edge of the cut out portion includes a resealable strip fastener 122 extending along that perimeter. In an embodiment shown in
The removable portion 130 is seperable from the shirt part of the garment 110, and attachable to the shirt part. The removable portion 130 itself has a resealable strip 132, a ‘second resealable strip’, that extends around the perimeter of the removable portion. The removable portion is sized and cut to a similar shape to the cut out portion 120, but slightly larger than the cut out portion 120 by at least a margin of a size of the resealable strip. In this way, the first perimeter of the first resealable strip on the garment 110, is the same size as the second perimeter of the second resealable strip on the removable portion 130.
In operation, the main part of the clothing 110 is put on the baby 100 first as shown in
Then, the removable portion 130 is attached by attaching the connection portion 132 on the perimeter of the removable 130 to the corresponding connection portion 122 on the other clothing.
At this point the baby is fully covered as shown in
In one embodiment, the removable strip covers only the front portion of the clothing 110 as shown in
However, if the baby in the process of eating or the like soils themselves, then the removable portion 130 can be replaced without removing the entire item of clothing.
In an embodiment, the removable portion goes from the shoulder 122, to a bottom most location 125, which is for example, 8 inches deep in the chest area going around to the other shoulder 123, to facilitate catching all food and debris.
The above embodiment describes using Velcro as the resealable and removable strip. In another embodiment, shown in
In another embodiment, shown in
In another embodiment, shown in
In other embodiments, this can use ties which tie on, magnets, or other kinds of closure mechanisms such as electrostatic closure mechanisms. For example, the removable portion can be electrostatically charged to electrostatically hold to the open portion of the clothing.
In another embodiment, this can be used on any item of clothing which includes a shirt portion. For example, this can be used as part of a baby shirt or child shirt, without the necessity for covering the legs also.
