Abstract
A seat for a baby including a support structure designed to support a baby. The support structure may consist of a frame and a cover. In another embodiment the support structure is created as one piece from a mold. A blanket is attached to the baby seat with the blanket created in the form/shape of a character. Any character can be chosen including animals. The blanket has outer portions extending away from a central part of the blanket and these outer portions are created in the shape of extremities for the character selected. The outer portions can be used to wrap around the baby for warmth and to create a secure feeling for the baby.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to baby seats and carriers. It is further related to blankets wraps for babies and small children.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

There are currently known various baby seats as well as blankets and wraps for babies and small children. The purpose of this invention is to create a unique, integrated combination of a baby seat and blanket.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A unique baby seat with an integrated blanket (or wrap) formed in the shape of a character including a living creature. The extremities (arms, legs, and/or head) of the character or creature are designed to be wrapped around a baby. This allows the baby to feel more secure and comfortable, while also providing warmth when needed. The blanket may be made of various materials depending on desired thermal properties, feel to the baby, allergy prevention, liquid resistance, and ease of cleaning And the seat is designed to allow exchanging the wraps as desired. Means for adjusting the size of the blanket may be included.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The baby seat is a comprised of a support structure 1 with an integrated blanket 2, wherein the blanket 2 is attached to the support structure 1. The blanket 2 has a center portion 20 and one or more outer portions 11. The support structure 1 may take any particular form, shape and construction suitable for accommodating a baby or small child in many applications. A few examples of applications include bouncing seat, car seat, carriage/stroller seat, highchair seat, etc.

In one embodiment shown on the figures, the support structure 1 is comprised of a frame 3 and cover 4. The frame is shown in FIG. 1. In this embodiment, the frame is comprised of two legs 5, a connector tube 6, nuts and screws 7, connectors, 18, a seat bar 8, and a foot bar 9. In other embodiments the frame is created as one piece from a mold.

As shown in FIG. 2, the cover 4 is positioned over the frame 3, creating a seat suitable for accommodating a baby. The cover may be fastened to the frame 3 using commonly known fasteners 10, such as ties, Velcro, snaps, buttons, and other suitable equivalents.

The blanket 2 is either permanently or removably attached to the support structure 1. In the instance that the blanket 2 is removably attached to the support structure 1, such attachment may be achieved through the use of one or more fasteners 10. The blanket 2 may be made of various materials depending on desired thermal properties, feel to the baby, allergy prevention, liquid resistance, and ease of cleaning.

The blanket 2 is formed in the shape of a character which includes an, animal or other living creature, wherein the outer portions 11 are in the shape of the selected character's extremities (wings, arms, legs head, etc). The outer portions 11 of the blanket 2 are sized and shaped to be wrapped around a baby when it is placed in the support structure 1. A preferred embodiment of the support structure 1 with an integrated blanket 2 in the shape of a butterfly is shown in FIG. 3. The wings of the butterfly shape constitute the outer portions 11 in this instance.

When the baby seat is used, a baby is placed in (or on top of) the support structure 1 and on top of the blanket 2. The outer portions 11 of the blanket 2 are then placed over the top of the baby, as shown in FIG. X. One of the outer portions 11 is wrapped over the top of baby, and then a second outer portion 11 is wrapped over the top of the baby. The outer portions 11 are affixed in place using one or more fasteners 10. The outer portions 11 include fasteners 10 so that they can be attached to each other, maintaining their position around the baby. When the outer portions 11 are not positioned over the baby, they may be attached to the support structure 1 using appropriately placed fasteners 10.

Another feature of a preferred embodiment is the inclusion of means for adjusting the size of the outer portions 11. As shown in FIG. X, one of the many ways this can be achieved is by folding and attaching the outer portion 11 to itself utilizing a fastener 10. The fastener 10 may be positioned to enable various different size adjustments to be made. Another way to provide adjustability for growth is by providing extension panels 12, which conform to the design and size of the blanket 2 and outer portions 11, and which can be attached to the blanket 2 as required.

To secure the baby in the baby seat, a harness 13 or belt may be included. Additional features can be added as desired such as toys 14 or a vibration device 15. To facilitate the attachment of devices such as toys, a toy bar 16 can be provided to enable the toys 14 be within sight and/or reach of the baby. The baby seat may also be equipped with audiovisual components 17, such as a microphone and/or camera as well as an appropriate signal transmitter to enable remote monitoring of the baby. The baby seat may further include a head support component 19 to provide stability for a baby's head and/or neck.

One method for placing a baby in the disclosed in a baby seat is as follows:

    • place the baby in the support structure, and on top of the blanket;
    • wrap one outer portion of the blanket over the top of the baby;
    • wrap another outer portion of the blanket over the top of the baby;
    • affix the outer portions of the blanket in place using the fasteners.

The above is a detailed description of particular embodiments of the invention. It is recognized that departures from the disclosed embodiments may be made within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art. Those of skill in the art should, in light of the present disclosure, appreciate that many changes can be made in the specific embodiments which are disclosed herein and still obtain a like or similar result without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. All of the embodiments disclosed and claimed herein can be made and executed without undue experimentation in light of the present disclosure.
