Claims
- 1. An isolated protein that has toxin activity against a coleopteran pest wherein said protein has at least 95% identity with the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 5.
- 2. The protein of claim 1 wherein said protein comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 5:
- 3. The protein of claim 1 wherein said protein comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 7.
- 4. The protein of claim 1 wherein said protein comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3.
- 5. An isolated protein that has toxin activity against a coleopteran pest wherein said protein has at least 95% identity with a pesticidally active fragment of SEQ ID NO: 5.
- 6. An isolated protein that has toxin activity against a coleopteran pest, wherein said protein is encoded by a polynucleotide wherein said polynucleotide hybridizes with the full complement of a nucleotide sequence that encodes the protein of SEQ ID NO: 5 when said full complement is used as a hybridization probe, wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 2×SSPE at room temperature.
- 7. The protein of claim 6 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 1×SSPE at room temperature.
- 8. The protein of claim 6 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 2×SSPE at 42° C.
- 9. The protein of claim 6 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 1×SSPE at 42° C.
- 10. The protein of claim 6 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 1×SSPE at 65° C.
- 11. The protein of claim 6 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 0.2×SSPE at 65° C.
- 12. The protein of claim 6 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0. 1% SDS and 0.1×SSPE at 65° C.
- 13. The polynucleotide of claim 6 wherein said nucleotide sequence is SEQ ID NO: 4.
- 14. A method for controlling a coleopteran pest wherein said method comprises contacting said pest with a pesticidal protein that has toxin activity against a coleopteran pest wherein said protein has at least 95% identity with the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 5.
- 15. The method of claim 14 wherein said protein comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 5.
- 16. The method of claim 14 wherein said protein comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 7.
- 17. The method of claim 14 wherein said protein comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3.
- 18. The method of claim 14 wherein said pest belongs to the genus Phyllotreta.
- 19. A method for controlling a coleopteran pest wherein said method comprises contacting said pest with a pesticidal protein that has toxin activity against a coleopteran pest wherein said protein has at least 95% identity with a pesticidally active fragment of SEQ ID NO: 5.
- 20. The method of claim 19 wherein said pest belongs to the genus Phyllotreta.
- 21. A method for controlling a coleopteran pest wherein said method comprises contacting said pest with a pesticidal protein that has toxin activity against a coleopteran pest, wherein said protein is encoded by a polynucleotide wherein said polynucleotide hybridizes with the full complement of a nucleotide sequence that encodes the protein of SEQ ID NO: 5 when said full complement is used as a hybridization probe, wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 2×SSPE at room temperature.
- 22. The method of claim 21 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 1×SSPE at room temperature.
- 23. The method of claim 21 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 2×SSPE at 42° C.
- 24. The method of claim 21 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 1×SSPE at 42° C.
- 25. The method of claim 21 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 1×SSPE at 65° C.
- 26. The method of claim 21 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 0.2×SSPE at 65° C.
- 27. The method of claim 21 wherein hybridization is maintained at conditions of 0.1% SDS and 0.1×SSPE at 65° C.
- 28. The method of claim 21 wherein said nucleotide sequence is SEQ ID NO: 4.
- 29. The method of claim 21 wherein said pest belongs to the genus Phyllotreta.
