The present invention relates generally to the field of seating devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to a backpack chair device that provides a backpack with an integrated folding seat that can be deployed to provide a temporary sitting surface. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.
Students may often find themselves in situations where they are required to wait for school buses, carpools, or other forms of transportation to and from their educational institutions. This waiting, typically done outdoors in open areas, can be quite frustrating and challenging, especially if it extends over longer periods of time. During these waits, a student may feel the need to sit down, but unfortunately, they might struggle to find a comfortable and sanitary place to do so. Options like sitting on the ground can result in soiled clothing, which is undesirable and inconvenient. Additionally, being forced to stand for extended durations can lead to physical discomfort, particularly in the muscles and joints. This can be especially taxing after a long day at school when they are already tired.
Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a seating device for students. There also exists a long-felt need in the art for a backpack chair device. More specifically, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a backpack chair device that provides a seat that can be easily deployed by a student. Further, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a backpack chair device that provides a seat that can be easily deployed by a student wherein the seat keeps the student off of a ground surface.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a backpack chair device. The device is comprised of a backpack chair device. The device is comprised of a backpack body with at least one chair assembly. During use, the chair assembly can be unfolded from the backpack and used as a temporary seat. The chair assembly is comprised of a backrest, a seat, and at least one leg. In different embodiments the chair assembly may be removable or non-removable from the backpack body.
In this manner, the backpack chair device of the present invention accomplishes all the forgoing objectives and provides a seating device for students. More specifically, the device provides a seat that can be easily deployed by a student. During use, the seat keeps the student off of a ground surface and prevents soiled clothing.
The following presents a simplified summary to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a backpack chair device comprised of a backpack body with at least one chair assembly that can be unfolded from the body to serve as a temporary seat. The body may be any style of backpack body known in art and may have any commonly found backpack feature.
The back area of the body is comprised of at least one chair assembly comprised of a backrest and a seat with at least one leg. The backrest is comprised of at least one hinge that allows at least one seat to attach to the backrest. The hinge is preferably comprised of a locking hinge that allows the seat to be locked in a folded or unfolded position.
The seat is comprised of at least one (but preferably four) legs. The leg attaches to the seat via at least one hinge that allows the leg to be locked in a folded or unfolded position. In one embodiment, the leg is a telescopic leg wherein the leg is comprised of at least one locking member such as but not limited to a button lock, a twist lock, etc. that allows the leg to be secured at a specific length/height.
To secure the backrest, seat, and leg in a stored position (i.e., wherein the backrest, seat, and leg are all folded and parallel with the back area) the back area may be comprised of at least one strap.
The present invention is also comprised of a method of using the device. First, a device is provided comprised of a backpack body comprised of a chair assembly comprised of a backrest, a seat, and at least one leg. Then, the seat can be unfolded from the backrest and locked into a position wherein the horizontal axis of the seat is perpendicular to the vertical axis of the backrest. Next, the leg can be unfolded from the seat and locked into a position wherein a vertical axis of the leg is perpendicular to a horizontal axis of the seat. Then, a user can sit on the chair assembly. Finally, a user can unlock and fold the seat and leg such that they are parallel with the vertical axis of the backrest, and wherein the seat, leg, and backrest can be secured together via at least one fastener.
Accordingly, the backpack chair device of the present invention is particularly advantageous as it provides a seating device for students. More specifically, the device provides a seat that can be easily deployed by a student. During use, the seat keeps the student off of a ground surface and prevents soiled clothing. In this manner, the backpack chair device provides a solution for portable seating for students.

The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is comprised of a backpack chair device.
